Hi there guys, for all of you following our records so far our new 7" is out today. Read blurb below, hope you like it:

Keep Up! Records returns with another split single with its fifth installment in a series of 7" and 12"s. Tom Central features on the A side on a slightly different tack following the massive success of Akama, played by the likes of XFM's John Kennedy. Hillbrook Boogie features trademark heavy drums and big basslines, this time coupled a synth-based melodic approach. Retro sounds cut with low-slung modern disco boogie.

On the flipside Sega, Ave Blaste & Cosmo Lopez team up again after the sleeper hit Drakefield Soul on KEEP 002 supported by Nightmares on Wax. Again more electronic, this cut delves deeper, moving into the 80s soulful boogie-influenced sound. Oriental synth melodies dart around bubbling 303 basslines. Moody but upbeat with a nod to the vintage video-game sound.

Limited edition 500 copies only.

To celebrate the release of what will hopefully be the first of many on Keep Up! Records, our resident funkologist and producer of 'The World Famous' on Keep Up! 001 has made a nifty new podcast for your delectation. Made up solely of cover versions of Beatles tunes from the likes of Ramsay Lewis and Deirdrie Tabac among others- we don't have more details than that as he is keeping his track selection to himself for the moment- this can only be described as a funky trip through the back catalogue of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and that other one who was the voice of Thomas The Tank Engine. We think this mix is perfect if you have decided to represent yourself in divorce proceedings against a very rich old man and you only have a leg to stand on although we did hear this is what Britney was listening to when she went bonkers.

We may as well use this moment to remind you all of the release of our first record which is doing the rounds now, you can get it from all good records shops (Kudos, Piccadilly and Fat City being some of them). It seems to be selling very well so if you want to get one get on the case pronto as the 7" is very limited.

Over at Keep Up towers we don't normally blow our own trumpets- god knows we have tried but we only end up with back ache- so we tend to leave that sort of thing to Prince.

But we are have some news today that we have been itching to let slip for a while. In this day and age with the popularity of music downloading and all the record shops, record labels and record distributors closing down we thought now would be the perfect time to start a record label. Geniuses we ain't! But we think you may be happy with the results.

Our first release is available exclusively from the good people at Fat City right now who have very generously made it their featured release of the week. This will be available from all other good record shops on Monday the 4th of February. It's a split 7 inch record with one side of party starting jazziness by the mighty DJ Tom Central and the flip side offering a latin flavoured beats workout by the mysterious Lopez posse whose identity we are not at this moment at liberty to divulge!

Both tracks retain a dancefloor edge whilst also have the depth required for repeated home listening. But then we would say that wouldn't we? So if you don't believe us, feel free to buy one here:

Tom Central has just done a new mix for our podcast that I am sure you are going to like, check out Tom's description below:

Here is a mix of some of my favourite tunes from some well-known, not so well known and darn right obscure soundtracks in my record collection. They been acquired from all sorts of weird and wonderful places around the world. Some are part of Soundtrack LPs you'd rather forget about. Others part of an essential score - such as the track from Diamonds. Some hide breakbeats within their grooves, and some are just plain odd. Enjoy.

That is it, have a listen and let us know what you think!

We like to think that the kids would say we are running tings down at the White horse in Brixton. And after our last 3 gigs with great sets from Wrong Tom, Dr Rubberfunk & Hint alongside the Keep Up residents resulted in riotous scenes and many happy faces it would be hard to argue with that.

We have much more in store for the rest of the year, so to the lads and gals who took our posters last week, keep coming back to complete the set! Starting off with us again at the White Horse this Saturday night- they just can't get enough of us in Brixton! No guests this time but the Keep Up mafia promise to test the bars new sound system to the best of their abilities.

This will be followed by the first release on Keep Up records which looks like being a lovely little seven inch packed with as much sunshine as we can legally fit in the grooves. Don't worry if your summer was a washout as this should more than make up for that. Both tracks are up on our myspace player now, check!

If you can't wait till then, we will have a new podcast from DJ Tom Central focusing on movie soundtracks premiering next week. If its half as good as his last one- the funky as a Ronaldinho step over Brazil special- then its going to be a blinder. That will be followed by mission statements from Jus Jules and, if we can pin him down for long enough to record one, the elusive Zac V.

To get the full skinny log on to our website http://www.keepup.co.uk which should be getting a full update in the very near future.

I think that should keep you all up to date with whats happening with us so all that's left for me to do is thank you for your continued support without which we really wouldn't be doing any of this. So we look forward to seeing you at the White Horse soon, make mine a large one!

Ok, we're sorry, it's our fault!

We said Spring had sprung and summer was on it's way. What we really meant was Summer is now something that only happens Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and at weekends, well....you best get building that Ark.

Despite the weather (and a small flood), last Saturday's Keep Up! was a joyous affair, with the animals, sorry I mean, punters coming in two by two (till two to two) (and then staying for another hour as we close at 3).

While we're not going to make any more weather predictions, our trusty pine cones tell us that there will be an area of depression heading across London for anyone not attending The Whitehorse this Friday.

Our guest this week is probably easiest sold as being the tour DJ for Staines' favourite indie sons Hard Fi, but that would only be half the story. Having entertained venues all over the world, Wrongtom is now everyone from the NME to Lily Allen's DJ of choice, and reasoning is simple. He's just a bloody good DJ, and a thoroughly nice chap. We don't need to say much more. If that's not sold it, I'd advise you check out his free mixes http://www.wrongtom.com/index.php/djwrongtom/ and cancel your plans for Saturday morning.

So we'll see you this Friday. Be there or be a unicorn!

Keep Up! Newsletter May 2007

Hello,

Been a while since we had an update, so let's have a little re-cap.

Over the last couple of months, our nights at The White Horse is Brixton have been getting steadily busier and busier. Word is starting to spread, and I guess so is the love. If you're one of the hundreds of people that have come down and made the effort to say you had a good night, we're very grateful, and the feeling in mutual. Our Easter Spectacular (with Hint) was a riot, and giving away 200 hundred Creme Eggs in a matter of minutes was quite fun too.

As the temperature (unseasonably) rises, so do our line ups and the coming months hold all kinds of summery joys for your friday and saturday nights. As well as a return visits from our old friends Matt Tarr and Dr Rubberfunk myspace.com/drrubberfunk , we'll be joined by Glasgow's finest Boom Monk Ben myspace.com/boommonkben and superstar DJ in the making Wrongtom myspace.com/djwrongtom .

If that's not enough, at some point we'll also be giving away some copies of another new record and maybe even some of the new Keep Up! t-shirts.

Add to that some new visuals, a bit of live percussion and Brixton's best crowd, and well, you know what we're going to say.

Finally, there's a bit of website remix coming out soon, and we promise to get our mailing list going again.

So till we speak again

Take care and....
