Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah (Toronto) The Bovine

Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah LiveIts hard to say what happened during the 30 minutes that Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah rocked The Bovine.  Its all a blur of furious guitar riffs, water being spat in every direction, chanting's of "Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah," and song after song assaulting your every sense.  A band like HYFY only exists for two reasons.  1 to fuck shit up and 2 to rock your face off.  By the first note they had already done both. The last show I checked out was that of the ruthless Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah. I don't think any band could have surpassed the energy these boys put out. Within the first song, me and all of my photo gear were dripping with beer (par for the course of any small venue rock show, I suppose). The lead singer, Al, even took a moment to have a little puke next to the drum kit about halfway through the set. The energy level was that high. Hell Yeah Fuck Yeah are awesome. Go see them.Photobucket

HYFY - by Gord Reily..Photo by Ron Boudreau

Laying only half-digested in the lower intestine of Toronto's Queen & Bathurst, the balloons, peanuts, bubble gum & beer caps began to coalesce into a frothing synergy of moxie & mojo - into HELL YEAH FUCK YEAH.

Alumni of bands such as The Almighty Trigger Happy, Downbelows, Project Wyze, The Threat, & Damn 13, these guys could have their own float in some fucked-up punk-metal homecoming parade. AL911 (vocals), ARSE (guitar/vocals), Colt (drums), Davey Riot (Bass), & Steve's Nutz (lead guitar) are excited about Toronto's burgeoning scene and are intent on leaving a big burning skid mark right down the middle of it.

"There's really good traffic coming in & out of the city & I think it's time to be a little more friendly and a little more scene focused" says AL911.
"We want to be the band that we want to see", he adds with the slyness of an altar boy who reeks of processional wine. "Not to sound like every other dork on Queen Street, but we are finally in a really good place where we are expressing ourselves. If its metal to some, that's fine. If its punk to others, that's great. If its rock n roll to everybody, that's the secret that allot of people forget about"

And rock n roll it shall be with SLOAN's Patrick Pentland helping out with the writing & recording of upcoming release, The Other Rock N Roll. "We're very proud to have him involved in the project because we wanted someone who knows allot about melody, but also knows how to make it loud"

Nobody here is claiming to be working on a new wheel, but HYFY is trading the tired & battled old one for a faster ride with no speed wobbles. In an age of contrivances and artifice, along comes a band so ingenuous you can smell the authenticity a mile away. "Its about time there was a band that you can follow like a soccer or hockey team" boasts AL911. "And people like to yell 'Fuck Yeah!' when I yell 'Hell Yeah!'
The name says so much and so little at the same time. It's like a tattoo. It keeps the right people away".

Anyone who has seen this band play live in a basement or a booze can can vouch for HYFY and the good times and party that inevitably surround it and the music that speaks for itself. At the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?
HELL YEAH FUCK YEAH!

Gasoline is proud to present HYFY as a featured band for the CMW2007 showcase @ the BOVINE SEX CLUB on MARCH 10th
