OK - I'm seriously thinking about remixing a few songs with the new drum sound I've been working on - it's so much better that it's literally like night and day.  Re-record a couple rhythm parts with some of my new hardware, get Prof to update some vox he was less than happy with, rip a new solo or two - a whole new ballgame...

Wish I'd had these sounds 2 years ago, but ya gotta love remixes!

Just screwing around with the new band analytics tool here on MySpace, and we're pleased to see that almost half our friends are from outside the US!  Feelin' th' love from Germany, The UK, and France especially!  It's about time we had this ability!  Cheers!

The next run of the DEATHMOBILE CD will be in different packaging (paper jackets instead of plastic jewel cases), so those of you with the original jewel cases have collectors' items!  Just for fun, the printing on the CD itself will be different as well...

Started work yesterday on the scratch tracks for CD number 2 (tentatively titled "Up On Two Wheels").  Programming rough drum tracks to finalize the arrangements, then slapping on some scratch bass & guitar guide tracks.  Working on 4 songs simultaneously, which isn't as hard as it sounds because two of them are ancient.  Actually had to relearn/rewrite one because no recorded version of it exists.  The other two are brand spankin' new, with more newness to follow.

The next CD will probably be more progressive than the last (definitely more odd meters, richer harmonic content), and may be at least half instrumental.  With the new line-up, we're veering more into the territory represented by "Dr. Kendrick", "Invisible Bugs", and "Me Love" from the last CD - oddball compositions that really don't sit completely within any specific genre.  Probably commercial suicide, but we don't really do this for money, anyway...

Great first rehearsal!  The vibe was strong!  Laffs were had!  Ridiculous covers proposed!  Exclamation points encouraged!

Judging by how things went last night, it's going to take no time at all to be gig-ready.  Everyone's on the same page in regard to presentation as well.  We'll be sanding off the rough spots on the music from the first CD, adding keys and vocals to the existing material (meaning some vox we sorta blew off live will be back), working on some old nuggets that have been lying around for a long, long time, and busting out some really funny and unexpected covers.  Very exciting!

Inspired by one of my favorite artists, Bumblefoot, we will be posting nuggets of video when we begin production of the new CD.  I'm actually pretty sorry that I didn't do this last time thru, but I didn't think anyone would want to see footage of me in the studio doing overdubs and mixing...

This weekend, I'll be tracking another band, The Botched (a totally hilarious punk/metal band fronted by a fat guy in a child's Batman costume).  We're going to track pretty much live to get that immediate feel we're all hoping to capture.  Should be sloppy, raucous, and raunchy - just the way they like it!
