BEST Bigelf are basically a 70's psychedelic hard rock band that got lost in time and ended up in the present day by mistake. Bigelf were really cool, the frontman was like Willy Wonka! Just saw the last hope for rock and roll, they're called Bigelf. A top hat sportin' lead singer madly pressing keys, mascara rimmed eyes wide as the screaming face from "In The Court Of The Crimson King" on his t-shirt. As the rest of this LA quartet swam through acid test psych, strutting glam and what could be the best Hammer Horror soundtrack you've never heard... A throwback that doesn't seem like a throwback. Bigelf are the sort of dudes you can smell from a distance, a pungent bouquet of bong water and sweaty late night jam sessions.... I swear these guys own a time machine and came here from the 70's... Speaking of roadies, I loved Bigelf's roadie who looks like Tommy Chong. When the singer announced that he was giving a shirt to an audience member the roadie looked at him like, "For real man? We have shirts?? I only know where the weed is..." Frontman Damon Fox is quite possibly Alice In Wonderland's real life incarnate of the Mad Hatter, during their performance I thought I was falling down the rabbit hole to soon be greeted by a giant Cheshire cat! WORST Definitely the low light of the night, I had never heard their stuff before and well it's probably gonna stay that way. I ended up stepping out half way through their set so I could text instead of listening to them. Next was Bigelf, I wasn't really impressed. I certainly wouldn't consider them progressive. Mix Deep Purple and Alice Cooper, then make the lyrics less than interesting. That front guy seemed to be weird just for the sake of being weird though, with all the funny hats and playing piano with his leg on top of it. Next up were a strange looking group, the oddly named Bigelf. I wasn't crazy about these guys, they were mostly bearded and looked as if they'd survived living in a swamp since the 70's. Bigelf was nothing special...big dumb bar rock with just enough Hammond organ and meter-changing that they could pretend to be prog. Their vocalist was the worst kind a screamer, I couldn't help but feel a bit bad for them. Honestly I did not like that band at all, since it was mostly showing off especially the vocalist talking about himself and the instruments he has: "Yes, they're original and old..." He has a 60's keyboard and other vintage stuff. Wow, that's great and all, but the music is not that good... A bunch of old guys, I wasn't sure if they knew what the hell they were doing. The first 3 songs were terrible, by the end the blows had lessened to an extent where I could enjoy their classic rock - infused death metal.
