Any awesome Newcastle bands or projects need a drummer?

Steve's looking to start playing the drums again, but it's complicated.

He has the loan of some drums indefinitely and is a pretty good drummer, but can't drive at the moment to either shows or practices, can't do hundreds of shows and can't play a whole set of up-tempo stuff. Previous bands he's played for include Spraydog (early stuff), The Big Oaks and the Black Static of Summer. He's not bad :D

If you can cope with these limitations and are still interested, please get in touch here to see if he can help you out.

Current mood:  accomplished
Category: Travel and Places

Hey there, yeah, it's over, we're all home and chilling out. It was AWESOME from start to finish! We have a huge list of 'thank you's, but just to quickly re-cap, it was all AMAZING!

LONDON: Absolutely sweet! We played two shows, Silver Rocket at the Buffalo Bar was spot-on and a great night out. We had a lot of good friends and family in a sizeable crowd and we were lucky enough to be accompanied by John Egdell and Jack Mountain and we all had a rocking time. Really great to see you all there, especially those of you who travelled to London to be there ;  ) Also, unannounced and totally in secret we had the chance to play Die! Die! Die!'s UK album launch of Promises, Promises at the Lexington which was totally sweet too! Amazing!

Saturday: We got the ferry from Dover to Calais and drove through Holland and Belgium to get to Dusseldorf. The hotel we satyed in was really nice, and we had dinner in the Scumacher Braurei restaurant, amazing traditional German food and Alt Beers alround, except for Marie and Junior who wanted Fanta :D

HAMBURG: Amazing! We opened for the mighty Bellafea at the Astra Stube and needless to say we were big fans before the show and we're even bigger fans now that we've seen them and met them but it was just as awesome to meet our new friends there in Hamburg. We hung out in the Schulerblatt district the next day and from the small part that we saw Hamburg seems to be a really cool city with a Bohemian quarter, we really liked where we were. Pilsner is the preference in the North, brilliant!

KIEL: We really liked the city and the venue where we were, but this was the quietest night of the tour by far. It was a shame, but for the few that were there at the Schaubude, thank you for your support and we hope that we gave you something special and that you tell others for next time ; ) Monday night is not a great night for rock and roll, never mind. We tried some Bratwurst and also I tried Matjes, absoultely delicious ; D

BERLIN: Wow! Such a cool town and a great city, steeped in culture and history. We played at the Bang Bang Club, a really cool venue and we opened for the legendary Thalia Zedek. She was absolutely amazing by the way, and she was lovely to us as were the rest of her crew. Thanks for coming to see us in Berlin and it was great to play for you!

FRANKFURT: Incredible! Absolutely amazing! Marie and I did an interview for local independant radio station X in Frankfurt, then we played at Club Keller with Me Myself and the Ghost of Tom Morgan who were absolutely fabulous. The audience was really excellent and the venue was really great too, I have to say that this was one of our favourite shows on the tour. Great local scene there, great people, fantastic night!

PARIS: Yeah! Alright! It was great to come to Paris and play a show, sharing the stage with Acetate Zero who were unbelievably good ; ) We really liked Le Pop In also, and thanks to the audience who stayed with us in spite of the fact we were apparently unbelievably loud! We had no idea we were playing at such volume and to those who could withstand the aural assault, we hope you really enjoyed it :  ) I think we mainly had Kronenbourg, our only regret is that we didn't get the chance to get some French cuisine.

COLOGNE: Fantastic! A really great show at the Blue Shell, possibly the best we played all week and our own personal tribute to John Peel was hopefully a fitting one :D Really great support from Festland and They Fade in Silence, and a really great audience and a great way to end the tour!.

To everyone we have met, to all the people who have been so friendly and so helpful to us in the last week or so, we say Danke / Merci and that we hope we see you again! We hope we can come back again and enjoy more of the same, maybe even in more places :D Germany is a really beautiful country, great food, great beer and most of all great people. Vielen Dank fur Die Gastfreundschaft!

A small apology that we could finally only play Lemonade on the last date of the tour! We're really sorry we couldn't play it earlier, we didn't have much time with our new drummer Jonny before we came on this tour. Didn't he do well though? He's the true hero of the group and we love him :D Also the girls Anna and Naomi did a great job for us in helping us on this tour, with great support on the merchandising and helping us lug equipment backwards and forwards. Thank you for buying our records and T-shirts, you helped us pay for the tour and have money for food. Thank you for so much lavish attention and support. We love you and we know that you have good knowledge and broad taste in music, we are very proud of the fans we have. It seems that the people who like us are the people who really like good music and we would not have it any other way xxx Thanks to James for the van hire, we had a huge bus with a DVD player in it which helped make the 5000+km sail right on buy. Sorry it was hard for us to find parking places though! Well done to James, Phil and Marie for all the driving (especially in the big cities), and well done to Steve for working hard to get the bookings.

THANK YOU! OK, we want to thank the following people for the support, friendship and hospitality, without which none of the above would be possible! x x x x Rachel and Andy at Silver Rocket Club, everyone at the Buffalo Bar, John Egdell, Jak Mountain, everyone that came into London form elsewhere, Gav, David, Narbi, Christopher, Narbi, Laura, Rachel, Michael, all the crew at the Lexington, Andrew, Lachlan, Mikey (special thanks for the rides across London mate!), the Elks, Rhuadri, Sara, Gordon, Joy, Becky Sugden, Stephi and Niels and all the staff at Astra Stube, Eddie, Nick, Heather and crew from Bellafea, Olli, Peter, Jens, Maja, Martin, Carsten Beatkoenig, Hatto, Jacques Tiergarten, Thalia Zedek, Mel, Dan, Dave, Winston and Sarah, all the satff and crew at the Bang Bang Club, Phil and Me Myself and the Ghost of Tom Morgan, Matthias and everyone at Club Keller, also all the crew at Station X in Frankfurt, Carsten and all the lads from Velveteen, Stephi and eveyone else we met there, Stephane Orgasm and all of Actetate Zero, the staff at Le Pop In, Manfred and his wife at the John Peel festival, Tom and all the others at the Blue Shell, Festland, They Fade in Silence, Testcard, Marlowe and Except the General, and special thanks to Volker Freitag from the awesome group Mercer and also finally Chirstof, Andreas, Sandra from Liepzig and Tobias Schurig. I hope to god we didn't miss anyone but if I did I think you can forgive us that after going 5000+km in 8 days or so and after all the beer we drank, we 're all tired and a little muddled. Needless to say, without the help of so many cool people we would not have been able to make this week happen. We really hope that that we will see you again one way or another, maybe in the UK yeah? Thank you so much for the sort of kindness and coolness you only dream of being a small part of when you decide to be in a band. Together we all give each other hope, alone we all feel somehow so unimportant. Lots of love and kindess, we are touched deeply by your friendship and we hope you enjoyed the shows! We'll be in touch when we've made the next record OK?

Lots of love, spraydog x

Current mood:  excited

First of all, thanks to Pauline, Rob and the rest of Penetration for letting us open for them on Friday!
It was absolutely class, it was Jonny's first gig with us and he did really, really well, we enjoyed it immensely (especially seeing Penetration live, they were brilliant!) and thanks also to you the crowd for being canny with us ; )

Secondly, we're really happy to have made so many new friends on here and in real life lately! Thanks for so much lavish attention, it's making us blush! : 0 ]

Thirdly, and most excitingly, we start our tour in London a week Friday on the 17th October.
For those of you who live in our nation's capital, we would like to see you there and hope to catch up with you!

Then we play shows in Hamburg, Kiel, Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris and Koln.

We put the tour posters we have up as pics here, we're so excited about it all ; ) We're playing some great shows at some really good venues organised independently with the help of some really great people and we will share the stage with some fantastic acts too (Bellafea, Thalia Zedek (ex Come / Live Skull), Me Myself and the Ghost of Tom Morgan, Acetate Zero, They Fade In Silence and Festland).

Each show will be really special for us and we hope the audiences will hear that in our sounds.

We close the tour by paying tribute to one of our heroes and one of our biggest supporters, the untouchably brilliant John Peel at the third annual John Peel festival in Koln. Peely did so much for us and countless other bands and we are honoured to pay tribute to him in this way. God rest his soul.

Peace, love and unity yeah

As part of our tour in Europe we are playing the third annual John Peel Festival in Cologne on the 24th October.

We are honoured to play such an event in memory of one of the true heros of alternative sound, and all  proceeds are going to charity. As you probably know, we did two sessions for Mr. Peel on BBC Radio One in '98 and '00, and he always took the time to champion our work.

It's our third festival appearance this year, following the memorable events that were the T.P.S. festival in Girona, Spain and also N.A.R.C.Fest in Newcastle, UK and we're looking forward to it immensely.

If you are having an event to celebrate Peely's life and would like to play-list us, send us your e-mail address for free .mp3s.

Current mood:  quixotic

On Friday the 3rd of October we are absolutely delighted to be supporting local punk heroes Penetration at the Cluny (Lime Street, Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle). They are as legendary a band there is to admire in this region, they were among the first wave wave of punk bands and they burst onto the national stage in 1977 with their debut 7" 'Don't Dictate' (officially a classic punk rock anthem).

They're female fronted, their founder Pauline Murray is from County Durham, they're punk yet also wield beautiful melody, they did two sessions for John Peel, and they're totally untouchable in terms of cult status.

If you see any similarities between us then we're very flattered indeed! If we're still as well-regarded as we are now in another 20 years time then we'll have got somewhere close to where Penetration are.

Surely everyone already knows about this outstanding band already, but if you don't then please read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penetration_(band)

Also please visit their MySpace page

Here's a flyer for the show

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t276/bassape/clunyposteroct08.jpg

Tickets are onsale at The Cluny, RPM, Beat Down, Alt. Vinyl, Hot Rats and online at www.ticketweb.co.uk and are £10.00.

Normally you wouldn't pay that much to see us but then again it's not that often we play such a special event. It's also probably right after when you get paid. We'd like to thank for your support at this event so we're going to give out free copies of our debut album Citrus Bitumen on the night, 10 years old this month.

We really wanna see you there!

Today Steve found out that Öffnungssteckplatz is not the correct German for opening slot!

This made-up word is somewhat suggestive!

Unfortunately, he found this out after mailing out several requests!

(he's so stupid it's untrue and apologises!)

He's going to use Vorband from now on but on the positive side the band have already had several invitations to play some hot sex clubs in Berlin :-)

They would have made more money that way but declined!

Sorry for the misunderstanding! We hope that we made you laugh today!

Our 2006 independent release Karate Summer Camp has sold out.
There are no plans to reissue it at this time.
You can still buy the album on iTunes though, it's the only way to get hold of it now. It's some of our best work by the way so go for it
; )
Cheers!
