Current mood: voluminous
Just last night Chris posted on a website a picture of me with straight hair and a jet black t-shirt, groping my old Ampeg full stack. It reminded me that we may have forgotten to tell you something, Hopefield doesn't exist anymore. We waited this long to make the announcement because...well really I'm not quite sure. But since then we've all begun different little gigs of our own, and I always liked to imagine one of those pre-credit reels--the kind at the end of the movie with snapshots of each character and a description of what they end up doing when they grow up--playing in real life. Sit near a window, close your eyes, and have someone read this to you: Bob now works in Information Technology in the Los Angeles area, and makes a great deal of money. JoJo, after spending countless hours studying while we were on tour and sitting in the van, is now a practicing respiratory therapist. Christopher Anthony Chang attends UCLA and neither works at Sanrio nor the cheap version of StarShots in West Covina anymore. Andrew plays in a band called Brave CitizensMark is moving to New York in three weeks for a stint with Esquire magazine. Now go out there and live your life Sincerely, Mark & Hopefield

Have you ever seen Van Wilder? Do you remember the part where Van Wilder totally gets caught hooking up with another girl by Tara Reid's character? It makes you feel bad, really, because you want them to be together in the end, and he totally messes it up. You feel that way mostly because of the music in the background. It's a song by a little known 90s band called Swirl 360. They never got very popular at all, but the song is great. And we covered it for our new CD. It's on our myspace—yes new music from your boys in Hopefield. Guess what? You can totally download the song too. We have a new show posted too. Welcome us back, in style.

Have you ever played Boggle? Andrew and I played a rousing game last night. I found the words "Borat" and "Tiara" while Andrew found words like "too" and "the". The two of us have huddled in dark corners in our respective rooms, lighting incense, listening to smooth jazz music (do you know what song that is a reference to?), writing songs, and hammering them out with Jojo. Notes, and chords, and melodies, and digitized drum beats have been building up in our loins, and we're finally going to have our big release in the studio in the next three weeks. Andrew has been spending copious amounts of money on recording equipment, and Hopefield is finally putting it to use. Keep checking out our myspace, add our facebook profile, wear your shirts, listen to the music, and we're going to have something new for you, to pay you back for all of the nights you've spent crying to Rose Tint My World. Do you ever do that? I do all the time
P.S.: Do you want to know what college is like? Its hard.

Current mood: ecstatic
I woke up at 8 a.m. this morning, and my head is pounding as if someone took a blunt object and ran it into my brain. Guess what, world!? Hopefield still exists in this little imaginary world we live in. Things have seemed like they've settled down, maybe, to you, but secretly, the boys and I have been building up musical momentum for the past year and a half. That's how long Andrew and I have been writing music on our swank little apple laptops and sending the semi-finished products to each other. It's been back and forth, back and forth, and guess what!? We just hammered out two of those songs. After over a years worth of recording, you can guess correctly that we have quite a batch of songs…so we've slowly been sifting through the amalgamation of chord progressions, and intros, and outros, and prechoruses, and choruses-- picking parts of each and molesting them into completeness. Suffice it to say, the songs have come out great. It's like we've got this pent up musical aggression and we're bludgeoning it into an ear massage, if that makes any sense what so ever. I'm listening to Before You Go right now, and it feels like an eternity ago. Does it feel like that to you? If I could give you any advice right now, it would be to just be excited—we are.
Love, Marky

Wanna get in to the Glasshouse show for free, watch the show from the stage, and hang with us? Cool!
You can either...
1. Do a public display of affectionfield! Show us your street art/promo/whatever, just take a picture of your public work and send it to us. Be creative!
2. Become a YouTubefield star! Send us a youtube link of your Hopefield cover/karaoke/dance routine, whichever!
The band will decide (while driving somewhere between Oregon and Utah) on the best entry. You can message us here or email hopefield@gmail.com. ENTRIES MUST BE SENT TO US BY NEXT THURSDAY, AUGUST 30th at 12pm PST.
Have fun!!

We're in the unsigned feature for September...go pick it up! I think The Almost is on the cover, and there's another cover version with someone else too but I don't know who. Anyways, flip through to the AP&R section, we're there. It's starting to appear on newsstands already, the official release is 8/2 I believe. Go pick it up! Hope your summers are awesome. See all you local kids on September 1st for our tour finale party @ The Glasshouse. -andrew PS- here it is...
