For those of you keeping up with Mama Said, you probably know what I'm talking about. Yes, that's right, the CD release party. If you weren't there, you missed out. Brandon Turner did a great job opening, and the crowd was hot all night long. Huge "thank you"s to everyone who was there. Feel free to come to every show we ever do, and act the same exact way. When a crowd shows up looking to have fun, they usually do just that. Thanks to Eric and Preston the sound was great, and the band has never sounded better... at least not in the time that I've been with them. And hey, if they sounded better before me, they shouldn't have fired the other six guys, right? Anyway, I think everyone had a good time. At least I did, and frankly that's all that matters. Maybe we should just start calling all of our shows CD release parties.
And if there is a CD release party, that must mean.... Yes!!! The CD has finally arrived. It looks great. You need to pick it up. You can get it on Amazon, and most music retailers around the country. As a matter of fact, stop reading this now, and go get the CD. I'll wait until you get back to finish.
Quick Hits:
1. Never trust a man who is lying to you.
2. What's up with Pluto not being a planet anymore? Really screws up my world view. I also regret the billions I've spent on a spaceship that was to make me the first human on Pluto. Many great jokes about Uranus could apply here, but I will take the high road.
3. I feel like I could kill a tiger with my bare hands.
Please, from here on out refer to me as El Siete.
See you next time,
White Miles Davis...um..I mean El Siete.

Hello everyone...and Heather.
I use to have this real cool red leisure suit ( you can probably find of picture of me wearing it if you try hard enough). When I would put that suit on it's like I would take on a different spirit, kind of like when Patrick Swayze steps into Whoopi Goldberg's body in "Ghost", except I didn't get to make out with Demi Moore. That suit can kind of be given credit for the birth of White Miles Davis. Believe it or not, I was just a regular nerdy guy before the suit. I use to put it on before I'd go on stage to garner all the strength and swagger it had in its marvelous polyester fibers. I'd calculate that I probably played 500 or so shows in that suit and rocked every single crowd. OK, that's not completely true, but it helps this story much more if I let myself believe that at some point in my life I've had thousands of adoring fans. Even one or two would do. To be honest, if I could just find one person who finds me mildly interesting, I'd take that. However, with the suit...wait, I'm tired of calling it the suit, it deserves more. From this point forth my red leisure suit shall be referred to as Derwin. So when I'd wear Derwin, the shy, quiet Josh Hamrick would dissappear, and suddenly in his place would be the ultra-cool, life of the party WMD. Anyway, last night I'm getting rid of a lot of old stuff and I come across Derwin. My first thought was that I could never let Derwin go, or he'd take my mojo with him. Unfortunately, I noticed a large, unrepairable hole in his left shoulder, and in a spur of the moment decision threw him in the bag with the three-year old hamburger half. Here, less than a full day later, I sit pondering life without Derwin. You know what? I think I'm gonna be alright. That suit looked ridiculous anyway.
Mama said news - We've played a few shows since I've last blogged, and all have gone pretty good. One particular gentleman wasn't to impressed with my upright bass skills, and let me know as much in a particularly enlightened way. NOTE TO SELF: practice your upright some more. NOTE TO ALL CONCERT ATTENDEES: If you don't enjoy what you hear me doing, feel free to walk up and tell me, but please remember to bring a canned food item with you because I'll send them to some charity that's helping starving children or something. I can't help it. I'm just a really, really, great caring person like that. Seriously. I love puppies, too. I'd also like to point out that the Isothermal crowd was very good. Hope to get back up that way sometime soon. Noone insulted me that night, but it could've been because I was playing with a vengeance from the previous night.
Finally -
I'm going on a word diet. I'm under the belief that words lose a little bit of their power each time they are said. I think you should go on a word diet, too. In other words, if you could tell me a story using two sentences, don't take 30 minutes of my time to tell it. If those two sentences are interesting enough, I'll ask questions.
That's all for now folks. Be sure to tune in next time for your American Hero,
THE White Miles Davis

The WMD is back with a brand new blog entry, guaranteed fresh with 100% new content!
So Mama Said played a show last weekend at The Purple Onion in Saluda, NC. Big crowd, very enthusiastic. All was cool except for the major sunburn I was sporting. I had to wear a hat because my poor bald head was roasted. I looked like a leper, or maybe I had the worst case of dandruff known to man. Nancy said I looked like I had the mange. I'm sure she meant that in the kindest possible way. Anyhow, I loved the Purple Onion and can't wait to play there again. Note that our calendar is continually filling up. Make sure to catch one of these shows, I promise you'll have lots of fun, and if there's a song you want to hear I will play it on melodica. And if I can't play it on melodica, I'll give you a live Tuna.
So Random Thought time:
I've gotta play at a wedding this weekend, which is stressing me out. These girls tend to act like if you miss one note their marriage will be ruined. I'm like, what's the big deal? There's a 52% chance that your marriage is gonna be ruined anyway.
If I could be any one person on earth it would be King Kong.
Almost forgot, WWE has a PPV in Charlotte this Sunday. Anybody got an extra ticket? If you let me go with you, I'll play melodica all the way there.
That's about it for today. Remember to eat your veggies,
White Miles Davis

Nancy says I should get on here and do some writing. I figure, why not? It's cheaper than therapy, right?
So, Mama Said practiced again last night and it was...what's the word I'm looking for...good. We've got a real gritty soul going on that I'm really digging on. I'm afraid I'm getting on their nerves though. Gotta be. It's just my personality. I even get on my own nerves. But hey, that's me, and I gotta be me. I'm not afraid to be me. I am, however, a little afraid to be you. I don't even know you. You could be a raving psycho for all I know. You've probably got a decomposing body in the trunk as you speed down the highway right now. And the really scary part about that? That would mean you are driving and reading this at the same time. Dangerous stuff.
But yeah, Mama Said has several new dates to be added to the calendar along with other cool things that you'll just have to wait and see. I can honestly say, if we are in your area, it would be worth your time to check us out. If I weren't in the band, and let's face it - they could fire me at any time, I would go see them. And if I could be serious for a moment, with global warming, war, and impending universal doom, don't you owe it to yourself to have a little fun?
Now to go completely off topic...
American Idol finished up this past week and the crazy grey-haired guy won. This made me realize something...American Idol sucks. Not because the CGHG won, but because AI actually hypnotized me into thinking I cared. I would never buy a CD by him or any other AI contestant. I'm probably just bummed that I have nothing else to watch on TV now.
Cell-a-phone. That's how I'm gonna start saying it. I think it's funny for some reason. I wish everyone would start saying it like that. Cell-a-phone...that's hilarious.
Well, until next time,
White Miles Davis - I'm here to help.

Current mood: disappointed
So, it looks like I'm gonna be doing a little blogging here for a while. I guess it's important for us to reach the teenage girl crowd.
Here's a few random thoughts:
1) Practice with Mama Said last week was great. Nancy and Phil are writing some great songs and the band is sounding right. We are all itching to get back out and play live, and it seems big things are on the horizon.
2) American Idol finishes up tonight. I'm pulling for the crazy gray-haired guy. The hot chick has done something incredible, though: She has managed to be hot AND make me hate her. Never thought that would happen. Besides, we know all the really talented artists toil around in dingy clubs for dozens of years making pennies half the time and getting STIFFED the other half, only to go home to knee-deep grass and a broken lawn-mower, living a delusional dream of being the caucasion reincarnation of some dead jazz genius, finally retiring to their Big Lots brand sofa to drown their sorrows in a French Vanilla Cappacino and a bag of Oreos...or is that just me?
3) Seventeen windows in this house with one tiny window for the mouse. What, did you expect him to sit down there in his little mouse hole with no light at all? That stifles creativity.
OK. I think that's about it unless you want to read about pro wrestling. Nah, I'll get to that next time.
Josh Hamrick - Bassist and all-around handsome guy.
