Where to begin.......
 
Well first let me tell you the event was dope.  Heads from DC, VA, NJ, and even had dudes come out of no where out of cabs.  IN THE HOOD!!!! Like fuck that I love Dilla.
 
Lets start with the end of my weekend all the way to right now.  As I type this I am bumping that Dilla Ruff Draft that most of you don't have, at least not the bonus cuts, and let me tell you.  MARCH 20th you better go get that.
 
Well first, not to get personal, but Sunday night me and a young lady that I thought was it basically reassured me that she is not it.  The package from Stones Throw for the show has yet to arrive, mind you its Sunday night less than 24 before the show starts.  I have to get up at 4:45pm and its like 12am and I cant sleep.  My Kitchen sink been stopped up sense Tuesday night.  And the set CD for Unison Collective is not even made yet.  And on top of that my cell phone is dead and I left my charger earlier that day at the NGE rally at Master Borns Crib.  And wont be able to get until maybe Monday night.
 
I finally get to sleep and get up to eat.  Not knowing that this bowl of oatmeal will be my last meal until 2am the next morning.  So I go to work and check on the package.  Finally got the confirmation its at the crib.  YES!!!!!!!!!!  My phone is still dead and you know I am thinking.  WHO IS CALLING ME. Are people pulling out cause of the weather report about snow.  Change of times what ever it could be.  So me being the solider I just went to Best Buy and bought one so that people could get at me and I could get at people.
 
So then I leave work.  Get off the MARC at Penn station Baltimore.  All the way there phone is blowing up.  Where is it at?  How do I get there?  What time I go on?  Do I need this/that?  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I call dude who makes my Dilla shirts to check on the Dilla Hoody.  He says be at your crib at 7pm.  Mind you I have to leave at 7 to get to the club and set up.  So I am like bet I will leave when you come with the gear.  I get home see that package is safe and there.  No time to open cause I still have to shower, make the show cd, eat, change clothes and pack the promotions.
 
Well good thing is when I get home the sink is no longer stopped up. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
So what do you think did not get done.  I did not eat and the cd was not burned yet.  Mz is out front and the Hoody is not here yet and its 7pm and I am just drying off from the shower.  So I call my man he had to go back to the crib cause he forgot something so I tell him meet me at the club.  He says BET!  Ok I grab my laptop, of which I have a program that I use to make our show cd's with gaps and fade ins and ish, mind you this program sometimes acts up and I only got to blank cd's with me.  I pack everything get dressed and snatch the laptop and out the door.
 
On the way there I burn the CD and the first time it worked great.  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
At this time my stomach is kicking my ass like "ummm Food you dumb ass Food"  Get to the club and I left my set list.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... So I improvise.  I open box and begin to lace the club with the posters and stickers and other items.  All the while my phone is still blowing up like terrorist. 
 
LALALALALALALALALALA!!!!!!!
 
Then I find out one of the Dj's did not bring needles and there is only one ont the set that was there.  BIG BIG BIG shouts to Dj Love Hall who let us use his gear for the DJ's that night.  BIG BIG Help.  That Problem solved.  GOOD!
 
Get out side to put up posters hitting a L while doing all this.  Then I have to get the list at the door so T knows who is good to get in.  Shout out to T the hidden member of Unison Collective who handles our money and takes notes and rolls the L's.
 
My Main DJ shows up a little late but its all good people are not in the spot just yet.  DJ IMADODIS kills them with dilla songs and some exclusices.  I am still running around organizing.  Mz gets the Dilla trivia together and the open Mic jumps off with the Great IMPULSE holding it down with dilla beats.  Had a few heads do they thing.  My man Substantial was in town so I had to bring him up.  He even asked some trivia.
 
Anyway......
 
My first act was late so we delayed with trivia.  Mind you I had the set together perfect to end way before it did but shit happens.  Artist need to step they game up.  So I bring E-Major up to hold it down.  He fumbles but keeps it steady then we rock over a dilla beat we did for a mix tape.  Loved it.  Vibe was great and the Godfather, my drink I had, was tasting good.  Next move was to blaze that L and more Godfathers.  Still only oatmeal in the gut.  OYYYY!
 
Next While DJ Mills is spinning, the samples that dilla uses, he is a create digger like sum of us, I have 2 cd's I need to play when he is done.  One is for my man J-Soul who usually sings kicked some dope lyrics on some dilla beats and the other was the Ruff Draft.  With all this my surprise guest is blowing up my phone.  I cant hear or leave the stage and I cant let the cat out yet of who it is.  So I am trying to yell directions to him on the phone give mills cd's and talk to the crowd at the same time.  Well the group finds there way but again with so much going on I forgot to tell T at the door that Science Of Life was good to get in.  So he is calling on my phone and I am still doing the same things so I yell in the phone "let Sci in Let Sci in" 
 
So the group gets in I apologize and of course they understand and I get there cd set up in the back.  Ab-Rock then it was to be WadeWaters but Soulsitce was at the Gramme's, good shit, so Haysoos held it down.  Next 2 Tone tears the club up with dilla songs with my man Rody Rod hosting his set.  Great combo.  Then Science Of Life does what they do best and that's SHUT SHIT DOWN.  Crowd love them and that dilla dedication song was hella dope.  Next was Minus Nine and JBerd.  Them cats got fire on the mic and 1's and 2's then Y.U. who has some of the greats ish.  That dolphin joint is a classic. And Kutty Ray lol Sean Toure' shows you how its done on the beats and rhymes with Dj Love Hall holding his back with the turntables. 
 
Me and MZ do our thing and I black out on some freestyle ish.  It was great.  A lot people from all over showing love for one of the Greatest J Dilla / James Yancey / Jay Dee 1974-2006
 
All proceeds will go to Maureen Yancey.  Also the event was filmed for a documentary and will go to her also.
 
HELLA BIG PROPS to Jen who did a lot of the filiming and pic taking, and Minus Nine' Cousin Who I Know but cant get the name right now for nothing for also doing random filiming.
 
Shouts to Turntable Club and all the lovely ladies and gentel men from behind the bar to seaving for to the features and others to my MAIN MAN Kevin holding down on the boards doing what he could to keep it going and recoding the event and providing a free dvd of it for the documentary
 
Anyway...
 
We get done at about 1am or so and I get home at 2am to eat shower and sleep to try to get up and go to work at 4:45am.  LOL  What do you think happen.........

Nov 5th 2066 will be a day I will never forget.

 

First I was supposed to only host.  Then host and perform, of course if I rock UC rocks.  Then back to just hosting  Then it became you can't do anything then last but not least.  Speak with the manager and/or Peanut Butter Wolf.  This happen a day or two before the show.  So I call my connects and all try to get a wolf before he hit Baltimore.  I spoke to my man at head of promotions.  He tried to set it up but no luck.

 

So I got with my man mills, who I asked to spin on my set cause I know he is a huge create digger, who is close with wolf  and Madlib.  No luck.  So as the day of the show comes I don't know if I should tell my crew that we rocking or not.  Either  way we came ready to do  anything from 15 to 30min set.  I get there at like 3:30 or so to put up posters and all.  Give STR a good welcome.  My man mills come and I am like I don't still know.  E.Q. comes and I am like still don't know.  Right now I am like I will probably just be in the back looking at the show and that's it. 

 

So Aloe Blacc comes of the bus.  We meet before when he came to soundgarden to rock.  I promoted for his album and put the word out.  So we where cool.  He lets me know that it should be not problem to promote or come up and do something with them.  Wolf comes off the bus.  We meet a few times.  But these guys meet so many others you know.

So he is like well we may push the time back and if you want to do something its cool.  But still no real confirmation if I can rock my songs.

 

So I get up with E.Q. still not knowing what is what.  An all the while mill is talking to wolf making it happen.  As he has always done for me.  So next thing you know DJ Mills is like when wolf gets off the phone and shows me how the set up is let's rock.  I hit E.Q. he bounced.  So I am like YOOOOO they gonna let us rock.  He is like well I am gone but will hurry back.  I am like just come to the curtain and we will work it out. 

Wolf gives the go and the dream becomes reality. But like I said one crewmember cant make it.  And MZ is on the way.  So I tell her if you hear E.Q. do his solo come to the curtain and I got you.  So we go on the crowd is cool comes to the front.  I see a few familiar faces.  We hit with E.T. Phone Home.  They love it. I do Its Clear they go crazy.  Then E.Q. does Wake Up Call.  I run to get MZ.  She is not at the curtain.  At least not the one I am at. 

 

So it hits me as I speak to her on the phone and hear the music

coming from her end, which means she is there.  I run grab her from the other side run to the stage to catch E.Q. finishing up his last hook.

 

Just time enough to introduce MZ and let her rock S.O.S..  The crowd loved her to.  Then me and mills have this thing where he ask can I rock to anything he and I say yes he plays something wack and then something dope and I kill it.  Went well.  He played chicken noodle soup and everyone laughs then he plays a beat.  It was ok but you know I killed it. 

 

Then I get the crowd hype for the show one last time and its back stage to get drunk and talk with the label I met MED, Percee P, Gulity Simpson all for the first time.  I have met the rest before.  I take some picks kick it with wolf MED and aloe. 

 

Then as the night gets close to the end her comes MADLIB.  Burst in the door goes right for the liqs.  We talk.  Mills gives him a bunch of vinyl.  You know how crated diggers do.  He goes on does his thing.  Crowd goes crazy.  Then we talked some more about Fantastic planet.  I pass him a cd with some UC and Fantastic beats. 

 

Says to hit him up for an honest opinion.  Now I know this guy is hella busy so who knows but he still remembers me from the other 3 times in life ever.  We take a pic hit an L.  I slide him some bud.  Give dap to them all.  Wish I had my own ride I could have stayed longer and all.  Who knows what could have happen.  But as Madlib told me eye to eye.  We will meet again.  Trust!

Yo the ladies at that show was unreal.  At a HipHop show at that.  And they where not stuck up like I though they would be.  Baltimore women need to step they game up or maybe I need to move.  LOL

A live band was rocking them Dilla beats.  Dope acts R&B and HipHop.  Great Crowd.

Also it was a fundraiser for dilla so I gave up some of my new found scrilla to help MS. Yancey!

But the best for me was meeting T3 and Elzi.  I hit them of with 2 Orignal Dilla Shirts I got made and the rocked them the whole night.  The logo is from my myspace page main pic and back ground.

It is with great sorrow that the Family and Friends of J Dilla announces his spiritual transition on the morning of February 10th, 2006 in the loving arms of his mother, Maureen Yancey.

J Dilla had suffered for over three years with an incurable blood disease, and had also been diagnosed with lupus.

A public viewing (closed casket) will take place Monday, February 13, 2006, 430PM-900PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries, 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205.

A private funeral will follow.

PEACE

Well the trip to Canada was a dope yet crazy one.  First we are soposed to leave out on friday at 6:40 am and get there at like 8.  But no.  The plane we on has a problem and can't fly.  So then I am like damn what next.  Well the put us on this 2:20 flight that did not really leave to 3pm.  I am like damn is this how the whole weekend is going to be.  We land at like 5 and go through customs.  Which is no as bad as they make it out to be.

We where soposed to meet up with the guy for the show friday night but when we get there my phone as no signal and I dont have is number.  So at this point I am like we friday night is a wrap.  But when we get to the hotel they out front waiting for us.  WOW.  That made all the bs at the airport become nothing.  Of to Welland we go....

When we get to welland let me tell you its a small town.  Poppulation like 40,000 or so.  Was not what I expected but it turned out good.  Me and EQ and Mzery did our thing and the loved it.  Got some fans out that way now.  Felt good to touch the youth like that.

The next day I get up extra earyl just to roam the city.  Picked up some items took some pics and when to the festival where everything was set up.  I had saw it last night so I had a idea of what to expect.  Let me tell you I have never seen Hiphop like this.  It was all the elements at one time in one spot.  You never seen graph art like this.  Well the rest of my crew shows up and I have a table set up.  I contiue to do the tourist thing and make some friends with the locals.

Some people I met from myspace came through and supported.  I went on at 1:15pm  The performence went great.  The showed love and I saw the faces like WOW.  Who is this.  A lot of love in that city.  After leaving the stage I was asked to come to a radio station that all the local big artist go to.  88.1.  I was on the air briefly but got to build with other artist and people in the area.

Well you would think that was it back to the hotle and time to sight see.  Nope!!!!!!  I was asked to rock again at 7:20pm.  I only did one song but still held it down and got even more love.  So much else happne between here and there.  The rain killed that night though but still had fun.  SMOKE MAD ERB.. GOOD ERB.  I WILL MISS THIS ERB.  Anyway.... Hey

Sunday it rained all day so we did nothing but finish up the erb and pack.  I did get up early that day and just walked.  Where I dont know but I just went backwards when it was time.  I just went to clear thoughts write and just roam the regular neighbor hoods of T-Dot.  See the people.  Even spoke to a few.  Got to see the subway and trains they use.

So much more to say but that sums it up a bit.  If you want to know more just ask A.  LOL thats Canada talk.  There will be pics and a whole new page for me very soon so keep in touch all.

I had the best time at the MF Doom show. We had our own room with water, muffins, and more... Felt like VIP. I did my thing of course. Big ups to Shambhala for letting me rock with them at the show. You know MF tore the place down.
