FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Supergroup ARMALITE Drops First Punk Anthem of the Obama Era

Philadelphia--Known for their industrious work schedule and prolific output, punk supergroup ARMALITE may well go down in history for recording and releasing the first punk protest song of the Barak Obama presidency.

Written and recorded by ARMALITE (http://www.myspace.com/armalite" target="_blank">www. myspace. com/armalite), the song is titled: "The Honeymoon is Over," and was written and recorded between 1:23 and 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20.

"'Honeymoon'  deals specifically with our profound sense of disillusionment we've experienced in the minutes and seconds since the swearing in of our new president," says the group's most popular guitarist-vocalist, Mike McKee. "At first, around 1:00 in the afternoon, I think we--like most of America--were welcoming Obama as some kind of relief from the dark days of the Bush era. But, I think we speak for a large group of people with the message of this song. Camelot is over, and we're left holding the bag. Where are the results? What's happened to all those grand campaign-trail promises?"

Currently the song is available exclusively online, although there is talk about a special limited edition vinyl release to accompany the next live ARMALITE performance (date TBA).

***NOTE***: Since this press release was written, we've been plagued by trouble with the link (coincidence?).
Apparently the content of our new track is too controversial, and we keep getting slapped with Terms of Service Violations from MegaUpload, Sendspace and ZFile--who, it turns out, are all owned by the same company that helped fund a Democratic Primary thinktank for this election!!

Rest assured, we are working on the problem and will be refreshing and re-uploading the track to different links throughout the week. Just keep checking in!

PRESS: We can send out special hi-fidelity versions digitally, but can only service a limited amount of publications/websites each day. Already the requests are almost too much for us to handle.
Please direct your questions and interview requests to Michael Arnold at 1994 Promotions, x1994x@cheap-art.com.

Feel free to reprint any of the quotes or text from the above press release.

Hello all,
quick update about our award-winning, best-selling cookbook!

the Official Armalite Cookbook has been getting lots of attention from some of the city's more discerning media outlets...

Mike just did an interview with the 215's paper of record, the Philadelphia Inquirer for a story on the intersection of music and food (which is sort of odd since most of us would agree Mike doesn't really know much about either subject... well maybe food, but eating it not making it).

Meanwhile... here's the City Paper article...
(found at  http://www.citypaper.net/articles/2007/08/16/small-bites)>

THE OFFICIAL ARMALITE COOKBOOK
Mike McKee is not a whiny vegan who pays X amount of dollars for overpriced faux-meat dishes. The office administrator at the First Unitarian Church, who also sings and plays guitar for punk band Armalite, knows how to cook. And his new all-vegan collection, The Official Armalite Cookbook, is not written in the wheedling style of culinary tomes you know and loathe, with complicated processes and five million rare ingredients. It comes at you instead as if you were McKee's preferred comrade. The 15-year vegetarian (vegan for the past five) picked up his cooking skills from former housemate Stefan Grudza, for whom the book was originally written. It was then released prematurely on an Internet message board, where demand inspired McKee to whip up polished official copies. (He sold 100 copies at Armalite's last show at $1 a pop.) With the current crop of sanctimonious vegan titles on sale at Barnes & Noble, the low-key humor of the cookbook sets it apart. Each recipe follows a theme and features "Mythfacts," tidbits that McKee throws in to lighten things up (e.g. a recipe for seitan-portobello stroganoff insists that the sauce helped Vikings enter "berserker mode, ensuring quick victory"). Has he thought about publishing it for real? "I'd like to expand it with recipes submitted from friends and circulate it amongst underground animal-rights groups," says McKee, who adds that distributing the book at the Wooden Shoe is a possibility. It makes sense — the intro reminds us that "punks stir counterclockwise." —Kelly White

let's see if we can get it right this time [aka how about jeff doesn't break hisself again before show time.

the details!!!!!!!
Friday August 10th 7:30pm

ARMALITE (First Hometown Show In 1.5 Years!) -- it's us, nothing else to say on this one! oh except that we were supposed to play in march but i broke my hand and once that got better i broke my collar bone. it's fixed now and it should be healed very soon and i promise to be careful until this show is over and done with. promise!

THE ERGS! -- these guys are great and i know this first hand. at no idea gainesville the fest V [and one other time that i know of, but they probably do it a lot], they ended a few songs with the stage ending that THE CLASH tacked onto the song "Tommy Gun" i guess cause it fits in with the machine gun sounding drum roll theme. anyways, i joke about that ending a lot, do it in rehearsals to be funny and told everyone to expect it at the ARMALITE fest performance in the hopes that it would make it onto the dvd. well, THE ERGS played like two slots before us and totally did it. it was awesome. so everyone got a double dose of THE CLASH-inspired stage endings that night.

PINK RAZORS -- these guys played that same show at the fest v. they played right before us and they were great too except when the one guitar player kept misreading his tuning pedal and his one string [G ?] a half step above where it should have been. it was particularly brutal sounding because he was playing harmonies that went along with what the other guitar and bass were playing ie notes that stand out because they are not voiced in other instruments and because they are thirds and fourths [which are further up along the overtone scale and more prominently 'color' the overall sound of whatever chords the band as a whole is playing]. anyways, this was the only time i've ever seen them pull such a maneuver, so i have little doubt that they are going to be anything other than awesome at this show.

THE STEAL (U.K.) -- i haven't heard this band, but their music is featured on the internet, so you can find it. they come recommended by ARMALITE bass player dan yemin, as two of his other musical acts [PAINT IT BLACK and LIFETIME] have played along side them in europe and he has had very positive things to say. if that isn't enough to convince you, andy nelson [who plays with dan in PAINT IT BLACK] [oh yeah! and he just played in LIFETIME too for a tour, but do you count him as a member? i'll check it out] is working behind the scenes on this show has placed them on the bill because he also has great things to say about them. man, this show is going to be great!

At The First Unitarian Church
(2125 Chestnut Street In Philadelphia, PA)
All Ages / $8 [$10 day of, so get them in advance dunnie!] / Tickets At R5Productions.com & Relapse Records Shop
so august 10th is andy nelson's birthday and august 19th is jeff ziga's birthday and this show, as well as the after party events, are going to be brought to you by these two mega important people and their birthdays. so that means we're going to talk about how it's our birthdays and tell everyone to bring us presents. good gift ideas are rare records, expensive aged whiskey, tight pants, fancy sunglasses, oasis 12"s, stone roses 12"s [for andy cause i have almost all of them!], an unbreakable skeleton replacement procedure, a wii and whatever else you can think of. thanks in advance! oh and maybe a karaoke party at the front and olney place.

i didn't realize that we have three extra large t-shirts left over from our record release show. they are black and have a two color [blue and white] print of the album's cover on the front. i repeat, there are only three of them and they are all XL. if you would like one, shoot us a message. i think $10 sounds good [which will include the cost of shipping it to you unless you are outside of AMERICA, then we'll have to work something out]. i guess i could include cd's here as well. how about cd = $10 postage paid in the US and more elsewhere. money order if you want or well concealed cash if you like to live dangerously. we don't have a paypal set up and i rather don't feel like creating one, so those are your two options. enjoy.
