What Kind of Place is Hollywoods?..

Because we are getting more customers from out of town, they often call and ask, "What kind of place is Hollywoods"?  Well, we are located exactly half-way between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.  Stand in front of our building, and go 30 miles either way to hit Red Stick or the town that Katrina tried to f**k up.  The building has been standing for over 60 years and has been a million different bars, so we have lots of ghosts running around.    We have some awesome Dart and Pool teams that play out of our place during the week.  We also claim to have the Air Hockey King of the world---yeah, that's you Turd Ferguson.  During the week, we have pool, washerboard (or holy board for those of you out of the area), Darts (steel tip), Foosball, and lots of great conversation.  PS--if your gonna repeat it, don't come in.  What happens here, STAYS HERE!!  Not to brag, but we have some pretty cute bartenders, if I say so myself :)

Vic and I (Margo), have been running the bar since July 2004.  We live here in the area, and LOVE all our customers.  We try to accomidate all tastes and styles, so, this is how it goes.

Most Fridays, we cater to the Rock and Roll, Alternative, Punk, Heavy Metel crowd with those kinds of bands.  If you know of a good band that needs a venue, SPEAK UP!!  If we don't have a band booked on Friday, we have an acustic stage with PA and cordless mics for any acustic work, or for our in-house pro-Karaoke system.  (I know, the "K" word is banned in some places, but we have our fun with it).  We have over 3K songs, including SouthPark tunes--He-He.  Sometimes we get DJs.

Most Saturdays, we cater to the Swamp Pop, country, Zydeco crowd.  Sometimes we don't have bands on Saturdays, and if you want to come set up your guitar on our stage and wail out some Skynerd or NIN, or even original tunes,  then feel free.  Acustic songs = free beers.

So you see, we are trying to just be a big pot of jambalya with a little bit of everything to please everybody.  You never know what you might get, so come check us out.

18 TO PARTY, 21 TO DRINK.

******Louisiana Law says you MUST have a LEGAL I.D. on you to enter a bar.  Not expired, not a school i.d. etc, so be prepared. We do check id's.  Other than that, it's all good.

If you have an idea or contact with a band, let us know.  We want to keep bringing the music to Gramercy.

Current mood:  artistic

If you are interested in booking your band at the club, please review the following general info:

(1) Booking: we book most rock/alt/heavy bands on Fridays, and Country/Swamp pop on Saturdays.  We have a diverse crowd, (no kidding huh!!) and they know what days to come on.  That doesn't mean we can't switch things around occasionally, but this is what everyone is used to. Just email Margo and she will see about getting you booked.

(2) Payment: if you have played at the bar and we have discussed a set price, then fine.  If you have not played at the bar, then we ask that you play for the door. You keep 100% of the door.  We can discuss the door versus a minimum on a band by band basis.  The more fans you bring, the more money you make.  We are not interested in keeping any of your door entry.   Our goal is to give you a venue to perform and promote your music.

(3) Advertising: We are not in the ad/promo business, we are in the bar business.  We will advertise on our website, myspace, 2 local newspapers that cover the surrounding parishes, and on our recorder at the bar, but we can't reach all of YOUR fans.  If you want to drop off flyers at the bar, we will post them at the bar, but we will not stand on the street and hand them out.  If you want more money from the door, get the word out to YOUR fans.

 (4) Drinks/Tabs: Band members drink for 1/2 price. Cokes and water free. If a band member leaves a tab at the end of the night, we will deduct it from the band pay.  We do not charge big city prices, so that works out to a great deal.  $1/beer, $2/Jager, etc.

(5) Load In: We open at 3PM every day, and our Friday bands start at 10:00pm, Saturday bands start at 8:00 pm.  So you can load in anytime you want after 3.

(6) Guest List: Each band member gets to put ONE person on the guest list. If everyone you know is on the guest list, you don't make any money.

(7) Payment: The total amount will be given to the band that booked with us at the end of the night. Bands will split up the money amongst themselves.

(8) Promo Merchandise: We have NO problem at all with you selling band merchandise in the bar. We have tables that you can set up on and even a side stage that is visiable from anywhere in the bar.  We do ask that you bring us one 8 x 10 autographed band picture to put up on our wall (if you have one).

(9) Sound Equipment: We do not have sound equipment available at this time, so if you do not have your own, contact us and we can rent if needed.

For the most part, you will find that we (Vic & Margo) are very down to earth and will work well with any band that comes through our doors.
