Current mood:  thankful
It is with great pride & excitement that we would like to officially announce our rescheduled United States tour with original Iron Maiden front-man, Paul DiAnno is back on! The legalities which caused last year's tour to be postponed have been rectified and The Beast is clear and ready to  tear it up on the U.S. club scene for the first time since the 1990s!

Before the "Play my city" messages start, know that the routing is being handled by the Artists Worldwide booking agency in Los Angeles, CA and the best way to get a a date for this tour is to hound your local metal-friendly concert venue that books similar tours to demand that the DiAnno/Icarus Witch package come through your town. The dates for this trek are being confirmed as we write, and will be posted on our sites (as well as pollstar.com) as they are revealed. See you on the road!

From the credit-where-credit-is-due dept.:

This is a l-o-n-g overdue acknowledgement of the hard work put in by our web mistress, Aubrianna (aka: † Queen of the Rÿche †), who has not only helped maintained this page as well as the Three Witchlings page (along with Katie & Morgan), but has created and developed our presence on sites like ReverbNation.com and Facebook.

So for those of you who also live in Facebook land, please stop by HERE and add yourself to the Witch's new, but growing space in that realm. While containing much of the same information, Facebook will be its own entity and take on a slightly different feel than the myspace & IcarusWitch.com sites.

Thank you to the Witchlings for your tireless work and to all of you for your continued support.

After what seems like an eternity, the drummer search has thankfully ended. Icarus Witch are proud to announce Steve Johnson as our newest addition to the inner circle, or as he so eloquently puts it himself, the "next and last drummer for the Witch." We came into contact with Steve after he saw our performance opening for Heaven & Hell and Coheed & Cambria in Cleveland on August 22. Thanks to the wonders of myspace, we soon became friends with the Ohio native and when he found out we had a position open for full-time drummer, he came down to Pittsburgh and nailed his audition.

We would like to thank everyone who tried out for the spot and came from as far away as Florida to give it a shot. Also, many thanks go out to Tristan Triggs and Keith Hurka for filling in on the throne until we were able to secure our full-time, time keeper.

A veteran of the Cleveland metal underground, Steve comes from a traditional heavy metal / hard rock drumming background, something that we felt was essential for a long term fit. Also, he is a heavy hitter, a showman, owns couple cargo trailers, and he brings Yuengling to the sessions. What more can you ask for?

Cheers!

At long last, we've wrapped the tracking for the new album and all that's left is to finish mixing this week. More detailed news coming very soon.

In the mean time, we've posted a few behind the scenes photos from the studio in our Pics>My Photos album.

We just wanted to thank all who made last nights show with Heaven & Hell and Coheed & Cambria such a great experience. Starting with H&H's gracious tour management & crew and both of the bands who shared their stage with us. The staff at Nautica Pavilion was fantastic and our techs Pat & Bones went above & beyond. The busloads of devoted Witch heads who made the trek out to Cleveland to cheer us on for this memorable performance...you made us feel right at home. Thanks to the radio folks who pumped up the concert and our involvement (Especially, Abby fom The X, Chris from The Classic Metal Show, Stickman & Bill Peters) And thanks to all of the enthusiastic people we met afterward who were hearing the Witch for the first time, welcome.

Most of all, we'd like to thank the lady who made it all possible, Diana DeVille from Niji Management & Golden Tower Entertainment. You truly are thee Rock Goddess!

Pictures at eleven.

Current mood:Honored
Icarus Witch is honored to announce that we've been chosen to open for Heaven & Hell in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 22 at the Nautica Pavilion! The official invitation came just yesterday from Niji Management who represents Heaven & Hell vocalist, Ronnie James Dio, and of course we gladly accepted. This concert has an extra level of meaning for us, as the first song Icarus Witch ever recorded was Black Sabbath's "Falling Off The Edge Of The World" for Evil Lives: A True Metal Tribute To Black Sabbath back in 2004. So in many ways, our young career began in the reflection of Dio, Iommi, Butler & Appice. We've had the fortune to meet & talk with the band members a few times over the past couple years and now, to warm up their crowd in the hometown of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is a dream come true.

We'll post more details as we get them, but as of now, we know that we'll be going onstage around 7PM and playing just prior to Coheed And Cambria. We look forward to seeing all of our Midwest metal head friends out for this amazing show. Tickets can be purchased here

We were all too happy to take some time out of our writing/recording cycle to speak to The Cathode Ray Mission about our favorite non-music subjects: horror movies & the occult! They all fit together like pieces of the macabre puzzle that is Witch world. This is a great blog site that we'll be adding to our bookmarks and exploring in more depth:

Funny how media-created genre tags have been the norm in this biz for so long. Generally speaking, Icarus Witch has avoided being nailed down too much and we've relished the outsider status as trend-free, stick to your guns traditionalists. However, when one of the largest hard rock magazines in England contacts you to tell you you're now a part of this movement known as NWOTM (or New Wave Of Traditional Metal) well, that's a tag we can wear with pride, knowing that by not bowing to trends, the tastes have finally come around to what we've been doing all along, playing a traditional style of classic, hard rocking old school heavy metal.

So we're flattered by the invite to be on the compilation CD {"Nature Of The Beast"] that accompanies this April 2009 edition of Metal Hammer UK as well as the kind words inside. Particularly these passages:

"One of the best new bands to take the NWOTM standard and carry it triumphantly into the future is Icarus Witch, a Pittsburgh based group that sound like Ronnie James Dio fronted Sabbath crash-landing a Judas Priest gig!"

&

"Early Iron Maiden & Dio plummeting to Earth on fire!"

What makes it even sweeter is that it's an honor we can share with our brothers in bands like Cauldron, Widow, Twisted Tower Dire, White Wizzard & Wolf (also featured in this month's Incoming section).

As British press tends to show up on American magazine racks a month after it's run in the UK, this should be arriving soon in the U.S.. Look for the April issue with Metallica & Machine Head on the cover & support those who support true metal.

Cheers~
