Now for the process:  There are 5 finalist nominees in each of the following categories:  Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Duo or Group and Best New Artist.  You can see the full list of nominees at http://www.soultracks.com/2008_Readers_Choice_Finalists.  They are also shown below.

I am a firm believer that each and everyone of us have to be responsible for changing our lives, households, and communities as individuals and as one collective group.
But...there is a but.... The last eight years have proven that the vote cannot be taken lightly and cannot be tossed about all willy-nilly! This president has done, what maybe, irreversible damage this country and it's residents. I did not vote for him but I feel responsible. So I am doing my part this election year! Hey guys,

This will be a short blog...I am in and out of a fog due to the pain medication :) But I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all of the prayers, well wishes, cards, and flowers that came my way from everyone during my surgery and hospital stay last week. Thank you also for all of the positive emails and thoughts.

I am happy to report that my not-so-minor surgery went very well, and I am recouperating quietly and peacefully at home in Atlanta! :)

This year has definitely had a heck of a beginning and a few curve balls have come my way! Nonetheless...I am swinging my bat and hitting home runs! So I will reach out as soon....Keep moving to the music!!!!

Hey Everybody!

I am excited to announce the world premiere of my new video "JUST A GIRL" on BETJ. Monday, June 9th, on Soul Sessions 5-7pm, so check ya girl out! The premiere will be preceded by "The Making Of the Video". Now yes, we shot this a minute ago, but being in the independent world means that everything moves slowly sometimes, damn it! But nonetheless, the time is here...

As some of you may know, in my past life, I was a filmmaker. I am happy to say that I conceptualized and Co-directed the video with a classmate from NYU, JJ Stone.

Everyday that I am on this planet, I become more and more grateful to be here. In this place, this moment, this time. I've learned that nothing in this life is guranteed. Tomorrow might not come and if it does, it may not look at all like yesterday. People that you once called friends are no longer that and true colors start to show. I've also learned that in this business, people's loyalty only runs as long as the dollar.

Still with all of this, I keep my head up and I keep on. I was doing this before I was born and I have to keep doing it. I was swimming around in my mother's womb to the sound of the drumbeat and it runs through my veins. When it is all said and done, when all the paid people have disappeared it will still be me, my microphone, and my melody.

I was doing this before I was born and I'll be doing this until I die!!! For that I am thankful.

AMERICA, AMERICA!!! Question for you....can a person really love you if they never really accept you for who you are. If they constantly want you to do things their way and their way only. And when you don’t do what they want you to do, well then they hand you their ass to kiss. My question of the day is... Is that really love?
