PuroSlam Reborn featuring Vivacious Tea



PuroSlam, San Antonio's only nationally certified poetry slam and the rowdiest poetry reading in the nation, begins anew on Tuesday, January 22nd, at it's new home, Atomix. At its new time of 10pm, PuroSlam will once again bring the freshest poets, the most engaging audience, and the nation's hottest DJ, DJ Donnie Dee, to a city salivating for the poetry slam that makes the rest of the nation shudder.
"Puro slam is like poetry slam boot camp. If you make it here you can make it anywhere," says Big Poppa E, 1999 National Slam champion and three time performer on HBO's Def Poetry Jam.
Along with its regular cast of assorted hosts, poets, and oddballs, PuroSlam will kick off its new year with an encore performance by Vivacious Tea, the only band that successfully crosses the DIY ethos of The Velvet Underground with the irreverent satire of Tenacious D. "Vivacious Tea practically stole the show at our final slam in '07," says slammaster Jason "Shaggy" Gossard, "and we are lucky to have them back to help us kick off our new home at Atomix."
So poets, poetry fans, and anyone who wants to catch the most engaging show in San Antonio, come on out on January 22nd to Atomix and witness PuroSlam Reborn.
