The Ep got another review in www.culturebunker.com check it out:
Davis-Self-titled (Elastic Records 2007)
This debut five song E.P. from Brad Davis of Fu Manchu is surprisingly accessible and laden with catchy hooks. I love Fu Manchu, and while I could have been just as happy to hear more of their trademark "rock your socks off" 70's influenced hard rock jams, there's more than one agenda at work here, which is one of its strengths. Davis's sincere love of old school guitar bands is still evident, but there's nods to more than just Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, or Cheap Trick, which the Fu have mined so well in the past. The opening track recalls Bowie's "Diamond Dogs", another wails with guitar leads that could have easily marched right out of a classic Mountain or Guess Who album, and other less readily identifiable but just as tasteful influences hide behind the scenes like tigers in the brush. But these are historical reference points used to craft originals, not rip-offs. The vocals sound decidedly more contemporary which give it a uniquely modern sound while still leaving its feet firmly planted in traditional roots rock. The drumming on the record is (pardon the pun) rock solid, as is the bass, but just like in Fu Manchu, the ballsy guitars are given the most spotlight, and as a guitar fan this one was right up my alley.
8 on a scale of 1-11. The Swede

Due to the onslaught of bands promoting their shows/cds/videos on the comments section I'm holding off on adding band pages. If you're into our music and that isn't your intention you can message me.
Thanks, Brad
