Hope everyones seen the thing in the media about the facebook campaign to get Rage Against The Machines Killing in the Name Of in the Xmas number one slot?
Basically its to stop the music industry destroying X Factor from getting another one of its prodeges to number 1.
The show is absolutely killing real music with manufactured stars getting to number 1 on the back of a UK public which cant really think for itself....you dont need telling!!

I heard Simon Cowell spitting his dummy out about the whole thing saying "its just spoiling it for the winner/i dont care personally if i dont get a number one/its aimed at me/theyre treating our audience as dumb (ahem!)" etc etc.
You could really tell that though he was trying to make out he wasnt bothered he was absolutely fuming!!

It would be fantastic if this campaign was put into action every time they were due a release and it ended up killing this mind numbing bollocks of a show.

Please buy the single, for every grass roots performer, for every signed guitar band and for the anti-violence message it carries......F**K X FACTOR!!

Well here we are six days away from the final of this years Battle of the Bands and what a tight affair its gonna be.
Standing at the back of the room and seeing some damn excellent bands go out in the Quarters was tough,Widows Mite and We were Friends played probably the best two sets that weve ever seen from either band here.In particular both front ahem! persons absolutely owned the place during their sets and the very tight musical units behind them made the judges decisions very difficult. This however is just a couple of examples from the Q/finals heats. All 8 bands in the Q/Fs were excellent.
This bought on a feeling of great pride....firstly of the excellent bands that BOTB draws and secondly at our judging system which does genuinely end with the best bands progressing through musical talent rather than the usual audience voting. This is great for business.....almost press ganging bands to bring a big crowd to generate bar take but its not what were about.

Back on to this years final, this Saturday 19th Dec with 7.30pm doors.

Normally youve an opinion in your head of a 1-2-3-4 that you would probably pre judge before the night (though ive never got one right yet!).This year i wouldnt be surprised what the outcome is no matter what.Weve had debuts from both Rebel Territory and Stone Run and theres nothing better than getting sledge hammered by a band youve never seen before.
The opening songs from both bands in the first round had us picking our jaws off the floor and saying "jesus these have to be finalists!?!?!?" (though we dont have any input in the judging ourselves) and so it proved to be.
The other two finalists we knew about. Both are local, the blues rock, groove machine that is Dirty Beard came second last year. They continue to improve and have some insanely catchy tunes.Tastebuds are another band that have graced the stage a few times. Each time they seem to improve and i felt that the competition needed a band like Tastebuds.Whilst they have a retro Doorsy meets folk sound, they do sound fresh and very alternative.

Its going to be an excellent final, maybe the best ever over the four bands that have progressed.....BRING IT ON!!
