Am I nuts? I just started a new skatebaord company at age 41 (I just clicked over another year on the odometer on June 11th)! It is going to be called Popp Skates NYC and I will start by making an old school shape board sort of like a 1983 style board. Madrid is making the boards and Tylor Durand is doing the graphics. I am so psyched about this!

I also nailed a trick I have been trying for a year - the elusive 50-50 grind! Having lots of fun. Check it out at my skate website.

Joe Popp Skates Again

I actually did a little bit of music recently by re-recording some Joe Popp tunes acoustically for a website. It was fun getting paid for doing some recording!

To keep up with my good friend Martin, I will post some of my dislikes:

- People who don't move to the right when you approach them on a crowded street.

- People who are unaware of where they are in time and space.

- Over packaged products and clerks who try to give you a bag for a pack of gum

- Losing the little red hose for my WD40

more to come...

Finally got to skate again! Went to Riverside Skate park where I busted up my shoulder 2 years ago on the vert ramp. I didn't try to drop in on the vert ramp but it looms in my mind. Maybe next week...

Working on the video for my comedy show, it's going to be really funny!!!!

Bummer - There is a huge fire burning right next to the Autumn Bowl where I skateboard. The bowl itself did not burn but it is right next store. I hope all is ok or else I will not have a place to skate this winter...

Man what a trip! My wife's dad flew the whole family out to Jordan. We toured all over the place including: Amman, Cairo, Petra, Aqaba, The Dead Sea, St. John the Baptist, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. It was an amazing 2 weeks. I did a lot of climbing and even rode a few camels! Glad to be back in NYC. I am starting preparations for my comedy show with SKP!!!!!!!

Current mood:  contemplative
I have been trying to skate 2 days a week. I finally after almost a year of trying have landed some Axle Stalls and 50-50's! They look really bad but I love to skate.

I am going to be starting a new musical soon.I have been in a musical lull for a while but I think I am pulling out. Finally feeling some inspirato.

Started reading On The Road.

Finally after years of trying I got an Axle Stall and a 50/50 grind at the Autumn Bowl mini ramp! I didn't skate today because I was out late with the Slightly Known People sketch comedy people. The cool news is that they offered me a guest slot in May to do a comedy routine for 25 minutes. I have huge plans for this...

Current mood:  anxious
Just finshed reading Wired about John Belushi and it was really sad. I am going to skate the Autumn Bowl in Greenpoint tonight and hopefully land some axle stalls for the first time.

Tomorrow I am going to check out my friend Josh's sketch comedy troupe called Slightly Known People. I am also going to see a stand open mic on Monday.
