I always like to believe I can find a few minutes to write a post online after each show, but rarely in the whirlwind do I ever get the chance…so here I am- back home, jet lagged and low on clean laundry to write a little note on how my trip to NY was…

The band and I spent our first few days in lovely Jersey (and I mean that) rehearsing and telling stories and tramping around. Jersey reminded me of my birthplace-Windsor, Ontario; industrial but lush somehow. Everyone was incredibly nice and must have picked up on the fact that I too think Springsteen is a music god.

In the first few days we also travelled into Manhattan a couple of times to at least get an idea of what the city is like and also to catch The Verve (awesome) at MSG and sneak a peak at the venue. I have never seen anywhere like New York City. I don't think all the movies and tv shows I've seen really do it justice. It was busy and unrelenting and cool, cramped and intense and still fun and serene and bubbly all at the same time.

On Tuesday night we rocked out our show at Pianos and had a great night. Perhaps it was the first show I've played where I could actually breathe and steady myself right from the start. I was painfully anxious prior to the set; for months I've been acutely aware of how fortunate I am to even get the chance to pull a show like this off. My manager and I were both a little nervous I'm sure right up til it was over- but it was solid and well received and really a coup for us both.
The following morning (yesterday!) I was invited to perform for MTV offices in Times Square at 1515 Broadway, just before heading back to the airport to fly home…really we did everything we set our wee minds and hearts to in terms of music/NY/good people etc. If you like, check out a low bandwidth clip of our Soundcheck on YouTube.

Lately, it seems that all sorts of extraordinarily cool things have been happening for me, my music and especially for "In The Noise". And, guess what? Another amazing thing happened today...

KCRW in L.A. (a leading US National Public Radio affiliate) played a song of mine at 11:10am this morning. Nic Harcourt (who is one of the true artistic tastemakers in U.S. adult alternative radio) spun the title track- "In The Noise", in support of my Hotel Café appearance in L.A. on January 24th.

A broadminded, trendsetting and dynamic station, KCRW is adored and supported by some 55,000 members. You can check out today's Playlist or even listen to Today's Show> ("In The Noise" is in the first 15min of the 2nd hour of Nic Harcourt's show "Morning Becomes Eclectic")

It's true and not a misprint!
I will be performing in Los Angeles California on Thursday January 24th 2008 at The Hotel Cafe.
This event/show/spectacular is something I'm very excited about and I hope you can come- or if not, invite those you know in the area to come see me and my band perform songs from the new album.

I'll have more details as we get closer or if you have any questions about the show, click over to the contact page and let me know.

Also this week, I am a speaker at "The Future of Music Digital Alberta" Panel Mixer. It takes place on Thursday November 22nd and the event and interviews will be featured in January on NuTV - the television station for the University of Calgary.

We'll be talking about how digital changes to the music industry, music itself and the Internet have shaped the state of the art. It's a topic worth reflecting on; as a musician that started recording on tape, and then came to know Protools, to being more comfortable with the splicing, graphing and burning that comes with the studio experience presently.
Not to mention: e-mail and websites and all the various promotional and communication streams that stem from it.
I'm flattered that I was invited to speak, then again, I'm hardly ever speechless.

July 18th 2007

So all of a sudden it's really hot and hard to think. I've been spending some time on Facebook and that has transformed from bizarre to pleasant over the past couple of weeks. I am a sentimental person by nature and it's like a four course meal; finding out about the odds and ends of the lives of people I've wondered about for a long time.

The Video is up on Myspace and YouTube too. We're working on getting them here on the official site and it'll happen soon. For now though, feel free to click away to those other links to see the clips. I'm pretty keen to get more albums out and videos too into the industry...I'm keen to do a lot of things!

So far this summer is incredibly hot and muggy which is unusual for Calgary, and my time is spent biking, working and watching old sitcom re-runs during the day. I think my girlfriends and I have also consumed a few litres of gelato. It's been lovely.

Lastly, I've got to mention that we had tickets to see Joan Armatrading at the Knox United Church this month and it was amazing. It's up in my top concert experiences list easily. Her voice and guitar playing were phenomenal and she was warm and rockin', heavy and bluesy and Britishhumour funny. It was worth every cent.

On April 29th, we shot my first video and now we're onto the post production and editing and getting it ready for exposure (hopefully on a large scale). The director was Corey Lee and you can see what he does so well at http://www.enriquepoe.com/

The video is for South Pacific which is the second song on In The Noise. I think things ran really well and I'm very overwhelmed by the amount of kick ass help we had to make it happen.

So if you behave yourself, you might get to see it all shined up and rolling by late June and should be streaming it here on myspace for choo.

sooooo, still got the Xmas tree up. Hopefully there's no law against that. Last night we plugged her in and listened to The Police while basking in the rainbow glow. Just like the ol'days.

Just wanted to say that I'm terribly pleased to annouce that both my albums are for sale on the internet now via CD BABY. I used write up each bubble pack and do it all by snailmail. Sheesh. It was a slow go- this will be so much better. (less hand cramping) Cdbaby rocks and will also soon have me on itunes and 50 other retail download sites by March.

I also want to do up some shows and have a cd release par-tay (low key) acoustic style. Maybe you can come out!

Looks like I'm going to Release "In The Noise" in January 2007.
It's been a bit of a wait but my superfriend Elayne and I are getting the site ready to launch and we're stoked to see it up and running.

It's Xmas time and I'm on a sweet tooth high as usual.
There's nothing like pluggin in the mini tree, wrapping up in fleece to watch clay-m-ation specials on TV.

Special.
