It was...interesting today.  It might have been more fun for everyone if I had stayed home.  :-)  Most people were too busy waiting for a cow to defecate to listen to inaccessable instrumental music.  But, hey, the tunes were played.  I had fun getting to play with Andrew again, and it was also fun to experiment with Richard Todd and his fretless bass.  There will be further collaboration in the future.  Here's what I played:

As expected, there was a stunning turn-out at my 9 AM set today at The Grove.  :-)  It was a joy to play for all 5 of you.  We started a bit late, and I never really found my groove, but it was still much fun.  I'm looking forward to 3:30 with Adam Beasley.  Here's what I played:

I had an absolute blast tonight at The Grove with Adam and Aaron Beasley.  It's always been one of my dreams to finally get to play with Adam (with whom I grew up learning to play guitar), and tonight did not disappoint.  We had a setlist, but we didn't really abide by it, so listing it would be pointless...or impossible.  Highlights: A fun little G minor jam in my solo set, February (with Aaron's tasteful mallet work), War on War, Take 5 (oh yes, Dave Brubeck), and an instrumental that Adam wrote (with an incredible Glenn Kotche-esque section by the younger Mr. Beasley).  I haven't gotten to improvise like I did tonight in quite some time.  I think I actually got in touch with the music of my soul a few times this evening.  Wow, that was deep.  I'm going to bed.

Hey everyone.  I am thoroughly pumped about playing at The Grove this weekend!  I will be joined by two of the finest musicians with whom I have ever played: Aaron and Adam Beasley.  Adam and I basically grew up together learning to play the guitar, and Aaron followed along swiftly in his pursuit of percussiveness.  Though I have known these guys most of my life, Saturday will be the first time we have all played together in public.  It will be more fun than skipping class in high school!

The show will be outside, the weather will be pleasant, and the tunes will be abundant.  Come.  We start at 8 PM, and we might just play till Memorial Day...well, that was a lie...please forgive me...I repent.

(The Grove Coffee House is at the Corner of Nail and Getwell in Southaven.  Try the Strawberry Peach Smoothie.  It's my new favourite.  You may notice that I included a "u" in favourite.  This is because I am joining Josh Kubler's crusade to bring the "u" back to words like "colour," "saviour," and "favourite."  Will you help us?  www.urocks.com )

Hey everyone!  I just wanted to let you know that I'll be playing a solo show this Thursday at Ole Miss.  I'm playing outside the Union as a part of their lunch-time Union Unplugged series.  It's always a good time, so if you are in the Oxford area, come by and check it out!  I start at 12:15.

Also, I'll be playing at The Grove again on May 12th.  I'm pumped because several of my outstanding musical friends will be joining me.  I look forward to seeing you!
