Thanks to all who came out to the Pour House last night!
It was a memorable night at our 2nd Annual Old Habits Christmas Party as over 360 Habit Heads turned out for an evening of friends, fun and music . Old Habits started out the night with a blazing 2 hour bluegrass set....followed by our alter-ego rock band the Traveling Mayhem, who as they say in Spinal Tap, "turned it to 11." . We definitely put the "mayhem" in Traveling Mayhem with 9 people on stage for almost the entire rock set! Special guests included Brian from Old Habits on fiddle, Hank Smith from Barefoot Manner on banjo, and Pete and F.O. both on sax. I must say in all the time I have been playing that had to be one of the loudest stages I have ever been on. I cant hear a thing this morning. It was just one massive wall of sound! I think we gave Jac, the sound guy, a heart attack along the way as well....hehe
That wraps up the year for both Old Habits and the Traveling Mayhem. Its been one hell of a year for both bands and want to thank you all for your support. It means the world to us to see all of you out there every time we play.
Old Habits will be back February 1 at the Hideaway BBQ here in Raleigh where we will be playing with our good friends the Blue Dogs. Be sure to mark that one on your calendar....thats gonna be one unbelievable night of music.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Years and we will see you next year!!
-Chadwick

MAYHEM HOLIDAY BLUEGRASS BASH THE POUR HOUSE—Raleigh bluegrass band Old Habits oozes Appalachian charm, working in the occasional Sam Bush bounce among the spit-shined works of their forebears. But when the rock 'n' roll calls, the group turns electric as The Traveling Mayhem, their alter-ego. Tonight is a two-for-one deal with the band shaking hands with tradition before smashing it into pieces. The show starts at 8 p.m. for $5. —Kathy Justice

Old Habits, The Pour House - 3.8.07
Raleigh's Old Habits' solid mountain music hooks firmly to the legends of old with ease, nestling squarely beside Del and the Boys' high hill harmonies, Rice's flat-pickin' fortitude and Flatt & Scruggs' fast-driving tempos. Weaverville's Steel String Theory pushes a more Fleck-styled futuristic 'grass. $5/ 9 p.m. —KJ

Our return to Sadlack's was great. They did an incredible job renovating the place without losing the charm. The flat screen TV is quite a change...
The crowd was great too...playing inside was nice and worked with only the trio playing this gig. Food was great (house-made chips are good!) and the beer was cold as ever. thanks to Chris for taking care of us...and for booting the homeless guy that was hovering over the tip jar!
we'll be back...I hope they can have bands on the patio this spring

It was late night after our last Churchill's show when Craig got talkin to Nate about the next time we'd be back. We've been wondering about a weekend night so Bennett and Brian can make it out...moments later we had the 1st annual Old Habits Christmas bash on the books. We'll have more details soon...but mark FRIDAY, DEC 15 on your calendar
Our monthly gigs started there back in July and we've been overwhelmed by the response from the crowds there. Late nights, spilled beers and loud bluegrass...can't be wrong. Thanks so much to everyone who comes out to see us play...our friends who constanly spread the word and all the new people we've met.
