Hey Folks,

Frank Morey will be having surgery this week to remove a couple stones from his pancreas. This will require him to rest for a few weeks.

Scott and Matt will perform Sundays at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge MA with special guests until December. Vincents in Worcester MA will resume early 2010

The good news is: Frank Morey will have a new CD out this spring.

Frank Morey
Made in the USA
Featured Download: "I Stopped Believing in You Today" MP3

Frank Morey sounds like he's had one too many, and we mean that in the best possible way. His gruff vocals, dirty blues guitar and soulful, slurry delivery serve up wry observations and casual invitations like a modern-day barroom prophet.

"Must be hard to be so pretty, there's a lot of dogs out there," he notes in "Must Be Hard" while harmonica wails in the background like a slow freight train. "Standing on a Corner" tells the correlating tale of a pimp, a pusher and a preacher "who likes to hear himself talk." "This Ol' Life" sings the praises of a woman who "knows how to keep her mouth shut," and the title track is a dirge bemoaning how "Jesus' love don't pay the rent."

The talents of drummer Scott Pittman and bassist Andrew Bergmann are not to be overlooked. They add just the right balance of skillful sloppiness, giving the record a rowdy but inviting feel. We don't care where your shirts came from, but make sure your Frank Morey is Made in USA.

Hey Folks,

Frank Morey and His Band have a new face on bass. Matt Murphy will be the man holding the big fiddle starting on Sunday at The Plough and Stars in Cambridge MA. He brings a rockabilly slap and a love for Willy Dixon. Murphy has performed with many of Boston's notable and notorious, including The Raging Teens and The Kings of Nuthin'.

Andrew Bergmann continues to make music with his band
Troglodytes and serve as a damn fine mercenary on various projects from Amsterdam to Brooklyn.

Frank Morey and His Band continue the weekly residencies in Massachusetts and are planning tours throughout the summer. Check back regularly for tour updates and/or changes.

SUNDAYS AT THE PLOUGH AND STARS
Cambridge MA. 9PM

WEDNESDAYS AT
VINCENTS
Worcester MA. 10PM

THURSDAYS AT THE TIMES
Boston MA. 6PM

See you there.

Hey Hey,

The new CD is out and getting some attention.

XM Radio has featured MADE IN USA on Bill Wax's Bluesville show for the past six weeks.  The show counts down "the newest blues platters" from 15 to 1.  This past Saturday, MADE IN USA reached #1!  Thank you to everyone who requested us...

We're currently keeping busy playing in New England and planning our Summer tour.  We're also looking forward to traveling to Poland and the Czech Republic this Fall for a two week tour.

Last, "North Atlantic Line" with Eileen Rose (featuring The Farewell's Peter Linane on Accordian), was added to our page today.  Hack and harmony.

Thank you for your support and keep spreading the word!

Hope to see you in 2007.

Hey Folks,

Frank Morey here.  This newsletter is long overdue.   I'll try not to be long-winded.

It's been two studios, four years, one musician's departure – another's arrival, two live recordings, and a few bucks later, but the record is done!   Self-released (for now) and we're real proud of it.

Of course, Scott Matthew Pittman is on the traps and the latest recruit, Andrew Bergmann, holds down the bottom line on double-bass.

The CD is called MADE IN USA, because it was – eleven tunes about salvation, sex, sin, and survival.   There are some horns, a duet, and a few surprises.  I think you are going to dig it.

You can buy the CD at CD Baby.com or at shows.

Although we have slowed to the price of gasoline, we will be touring this fall, winter, and spring.   If we have not come to your town, please email me and we will.  I tour with the trio and solo.  If you'd like to host a concert at your house, here is a link to look into.

WEEKLY RESIDENCIES

We play every week in Massachusetts at these venues…

Wednesdays at Vincent's in Worcester

Thursdays at The Times in Boston

Sundays at The Plough and Stars in Cambridge

HOMETOWN SHOWS

During the next couple of months, we'll be performing at a variety of events in Lowell, Mass.

Saturday September 23rd :  The band will perform at the Revolving Museum on Middle Street.   It is a benefit for our friends at The Middlesex Beat Magazine.  There is a cover, but it goes to a great rag – they featured me on a cover story spread a few years back.   Great taste, those guys.

Tuesday, September 26th: I will be solo at the National Park Theatre for the inauguration of the Urban Village Arts Series, a new reading series sponsored by the Lowell Poetry Network.  This new weekly event is scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of each month and will focus on "bringing a wide variety of top notch local and regional artists to perform."   Here's a link to contact Dave Robinson for more information the event and UVAS.

Thursday, October 5th: I'll be solo at Cappy's performing as part of the 19th Annual Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! Festival, "Kerouac For All Seasons." Some of the events this weekend will include a Kerouac walking tour, a Kerouac pub crawl, and a couple readings from Dave Amram, , long-time Kerouac friend and collaborator.  For a complete list of the weekend's events, click here.

Friday, October 6th: Day 2 of the Kerouac festival, I'll be solo at the Pollard Memorial Library as part of an event for Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" exhibit.  This event will raise money to bring Kerouac's original scroll of "On the Road" back to his hometown for the 50 th anniversary of publication. Click here for more info on the "Scroll to Lowell" benefit.

OTHER SHOWS

Manchester , New Hampshire on Friday October 13th . We're looking forward to returning to Manchester. Come see us at Johnny Bad's.

New York City : We're continuing our monthly showcase at Terra Blues on Bleeker Street.   The next show is September 30th.  Also scheduled for Oct 20th, Nov 4th, Dec 1st, and Dec 27th.

Please continue to check out the site, www.FrankMorey.com , for show times, directions, and more dates.

Thank you for the support,

JUST IN…

Some early reviews of MADE IN USA.

"MADE IN USA is a booze soaked blues extravaganza of the highest order. A fine follow up to the legendary DELMARK SESSIONS. The songwriting and musicianship are flawless. Franks voice is in fine form (A ringing endorsement for the tobacco industry) on standouts "This Ol'Life", "Staning On A Corner" and "I Stopped Believing In You Today". The rhythm section of Scott Pittman (percussion)and Andrew Bergman(bass) bring the thunder on the slide guitar infused "Freight Train" and the explosive "No Evil". A live favorite that brings the album to it's glorious metallic climax. Their groove on the albums opener "Must Be Hard" is just plain dirty. Although, "North Atlantic Line" an acoustic ballad featuring a duet with local favorite Eileen Rose is arguably the albums hightlight. 5 stars, two thumbs up and a twelve pack down. Buy the album and for crying out loud "tip the goddamn bartender!!!"

"They said I was the fighter who got knocked down the most," the great comeback champ once observed, "but I also got up the most."

Floyd Patterson was 21 years old in '56 when he beat Archie Moore and became the heavyweight champ of the world.

He recaptured the title in 1960 (he held it for five years) after a brief loss, it marked the first time a boxer had ever made a successful comeback for the world heavyweight title.

"Seventeen-year-old Patterson made international headlines when he took the middleweight gold medal in Helsinki, Finland, at the 1952 Olympics.

Patterson retired in 1972 at age 37 with a professional record of 55-8-1 and 40 knockouts"-

Mr. Patterson passed away at 71 years old.
