Dagens hovedside i Grimstad Adressetidende: YTO Solreiser - For støyete for Grimstad..

Forresten, her er en annen nyhet i samme avis: Fant bibel, homseporno, satanistmusikk og spritflasker..

Jaja, det er bibelbeltet for deg.. :-)

La deg forføre av galskapen!

Next up is the Hove festival where we’re on the culture bill at Filmteatret on tuesday. This will be sort of an interactive concert with a few unusual elements. One of the inspirations for this set is Hunter S. Thomsons life and work as the film Gonzo is shown earlier the same evening. Well worth seeing!

Hope to see you there!

The other day we realized that playing a split gig with Brazillian World Music gurus Amazon Ensemble would draw a very different audience to what we are used to. We would have to tone down the metal side of the music so as not to scare away the free spirited hippy-backpackers out for an evening of soothing Amazon-soulfood. So we decided to create a set that was slightly more abstract - driven by improvisation, beats and whatever soundscapes thomas managed to loop together. Two days before the gig we got together for a rehearsal; Martin cracked out the fretless bass, Kalle brought his miniature red drumkit, melodica and buddhist aura-chimes, Thomas armed with his usual arsenal of samplers, loop-stations and weird-ass effects and yours truly, finally managing to sneak some North-African Gnawa percussion and a touch of bass-clarinet into the band. The lights were dimmed, incense was burned, Brazillian Rapé was consumed and bobs your uncle: we were on a journey that would become what can be best described as an YTO Electronic Chillout-Odyssey.

It worked VERY well, and was a welcome edition to the ever expanding repertoire of genres we incorporate into YTO Solreiser. So now all we need to do is make a chillout-jazz concept album in the spirit of YTO Solreiser so we can get our asses over to Paris, digg on some snails and get groovy with the french. Nice.

A plus tard mes amis!
Robin
