Hit-Boy


Born in Pasadena, California- a child born Chauncey Hollis watched his Uncle peak as a performer in the R&B group TROOP. Living with his uncle as TROOP repeatedly landed with 1 successes, he became intrigued with and exposed to the music industry. At the age of thirteen, Chauncey began to see artists his age emerge as stars and was inspired to make his mark. Initially as a rapper and then trying his hand in production, Hit-Boy was born and began to find his personal sound and passion.

Getting his own pre production set up he began to dabble in Fruity Loops (which he still uses), put together his own tracks with a then partner and they circulated the beats in hopes of an opportunity to be heard. After a less than desirable offer from one Production Company, Hit-Boy and his partner agreed to decline and continue their search for the right opportunity. Later finding out that his partner had signed the deal without him,

Hit-Boy was motivated to step up his production game by focusing on musicianship, learned to play keys by ear and kept working until his time arrived.

Fast forward to 2007- Imagine sending a Myspace friend request to Super Producer Polow Da Don, returning to the computer hours later with a message in your inbox. That's the unlikely story of how the 20 year old phenomenon Hit-Boy was led to Zone 4, Inc. "I had just heard the London Bridge Record on the radio the night before and was blown away, wondering who produced it. So, the next morning I sent Polow a friend request and he responded- told me he liked what he heard and asked me to come to the studio." After going to Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles and playing beats for Polow, he got the response he had been waiting for. Signing with Zone 4 in 2007, he relocated to Atlanta on his birthday and in less than one year has already produced records for Snoop Dogg, Flo-Rida, Jennifer Lopez, Tiffany Evans and Young Steff. Hit-Boy recently produced five songs including several singles for Star Trak/Interscope artist Teyana Taylor slated to drop this summer and sure to make him a household name.


Crediting Polow Da Don for providing not only an opportunity but also the expectation of growth and further developing his sound- Hitboy has finally found his music home and declares," There is no place I would rather be than Zone 4, I don't know many producers who actually let new producers shine and Polow does that."

Hit-Boy's current focus is on nothing but the years of work ahead, defining his lane and to as he puts it, " To become only as big as God will allow."
