Ho. There's a new song up if you haven't noticed.

It's been almost a year since I polished up the tracks on 99 and posted them around and forced my friends to take burnt CD-Rs of it. I had some laughs and made some friends. It was nice to get some respect!

What have I been doing since then? Working and getting educated mostly.

Off and on, I have been developing the younger brother of 99, a second album that will be called Secret Identity. It will be better, worse, longer, shorter, purer, more convoluted and more emphatic than 99. As I write, it is reaching its final stages, with most of the songs ready to face their respective last bosses.

You can hear a beta pre-release demo of it that I made back in the summer right here.

As for the name, it's something I've been kicking around for some time. It's inspired by elements of my own weird life. It's about resolving oneself's disparate pieces as a fruitless effort because the whole will lack cohesion in any given environment. But only on an abstract level. So what this means is that you get a bunch of minor chords and arpeggios. Nyeh.

I am aiming to have this thing out by year's end with at least a baker's dozen tracks. And maybe something extra for good friends. I'm well on my way to that goal. I'm going to put some new tracks up when I feel like they're done, so get ready to try some new things.

Hey, I'm glad people are listening!

Feel free to leave comments and whatnot here, and I will be switching the songs around every week or so. I have one whole collection of music completed, it's something like a demo album. You can download it (while it stays up) at here.

I write new music on a near-constant basis, and I'm polishing up tracks for a longer, better, deadlier album than the one posted above. I'll put up new tracks and stuff from that as they're completed.

I've had at least one question about how I create this stuff. It's nothing fancy, lemme tell ya, there's no real chip work or circuit bending going on. I use a software sequencer/oscillator and some drum samples. I was really inspired by the simple structure and sound of videogame music, and decided to try several ways of creating original music in the same style.

I originally wrote out music in midi and used custom sound libraries to substitute 8-bit beeps for the real instruments. It was very inflexible and stiff-sounding. Eventually, I added some rhythm loops to that, leading to me to start doing what I do now.

Wanna hear some good music in a similar style? Check out Nullsleep or the 8bitpeoples.
