Current mood:  excited
Category: Music
We are happy to announce that we are dusting off The Old Fender Benders and getting it back out as The New Fender Benders!

We have added Steve Sanders on Guitar. Steve has been in the music circle of Bowling Green and Louisville area for years! He is the right guy for the band to get get back to playing party/dance music that we have strayed from the past few years.

We have also added Andy "Mr. 88" Day on keyboards and vocals. He will bring back that keyboard element that has been missing from the band, as well as vocals!

We are in the process of getting ready for several private parties and learning some new material. We will be starting to book public shows very soon! Keep a watch on our page for upcoming dates open to the public!

With new musicians and music, we feel that this new beginning is just what we have needed for some time now!! With Willie Smith being The Fender Benders and the core still intact, this is like a new band with a few old songs. New music will let you all see a new side of the band that has been missing!! We are all very excited for this new chapter and hope you all will be excited to see us when we come back on the music scene in the area!

Much love from The New Fender Benders.

Current mood:  sad
As most of you probably already know, one of my heroes, George Carlin past away yesterday afternoon, Sunday June 22 2008. I am heartbroken over this, but really shouldn't be as he gave us so much to think about and laugh about for so many decades!

This man would make you think and laugh at the same time! Not many people in this world could do what he did and have the balls to say some of the things he said through the years!! He was a true genius and will be greatly missed!

I am just glad he left us with so much great work for us to watch/read over and over again!! He also left us with so many things to think about and ponder, even while we laugh our ass's off!! He would take things that were taboo, talk about them, make us laugh and leave us wondering about it all! When you can do that to people, then you are a true genius and will say that to my death about this man!!

Hey, even when he was being a smartass(the best there has ever been in my book) he would make you know that he was right, but he just made you laugh at yourself anyway, that is pure genius!! His mind was always on and always thinking what was stupid in this world! Then he would point it out and make a joke of it, but then leaving you thinking, "hey, he's right"! If only people would take some of his jokes/monologues and used them to change the world, damn it would be such a better place!!

He will be missed by me and so many others! I feel the way I felt when we have lost some of the other greats in this world like, John Lennon, John Bonham or even JFK(even though I was only 5 months old, it had more of an effect on me than most of you know)!!! Again, genius should always go with his name and yes, I have used that world several times in this post, but that is the way I feel about this great man! I am saddened by this event, but he would want us to celebrate his life and his work!! He will always be remembered by me as the GREATEST comedian/writer in the world!! RIP George! You will be missed!!

Sincerely,
Mark Johnson

Our drummer, Chris Hardesty is this months cover story in The Amplifer! Make sure to pick up a copy of The Amplifer to learn more about Chris and all the cool things he has been involved with over the years!

He is one of the best drummers in the State of Kentucky and we are so proud to have him as our drummer!
