Things have been quiet around the Dental Team ranch these days. We're getting the hay bails ready, cows are being milked (soy milk, of course) and the ponies in the field are eating more grass and oats than ever before. We've been lucky, though. The weather has been mild and even paid our respects to The Apricot Man last Tuesday. The old bugger was getting into our grain shaft again, trying to sneak a pint of peach schnapps under his overcoat. Well, he took off on a train bound for Texas yesterday.

In the meantime, we had a lot of fun playing music, dancing under the moon and enjoying the country life. And you, dear listeners...you, you, you. We have a treat for you. Its a little ditty about a pony, a purple pony.

Come to the main page and get ready for a little rump-shaking country hospitality.

You will notice some new photographs haunting the depths of this Myspace madness. Special thanks goes to Dan Adams Studios in Holland, Michigan, USA for capturing Special Dental Team's "Spirit Journey 2008" performance.

You can order original prints from Dan Adams and, since he is also a hairstylist, you can get yourself styled up. Thank you Dan for the photographs.

A friend of ours who runs Sob Noisse productions, currently operating out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, recently sat down with renaissance man Crispin Glover before the Grand Rapids showing of his film "What is it?"/Live Dramatic Narration performance at the UICA (Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts).

This an intimate 30 minute interview with Mr. Glover discussing such things as the film "What is it?", audience participation, the craft of acting, non-lingual music, Vincent Gallo and much more.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the "Skeleton King" has arisen.

As it is written, "Skeleton King, you are the skeleton key to the underground skeleton world." This is no joke, folks. This is more real than the Michigan Dog-Man. Trust me, I've seen him with own two dirty eyes drunkenly staggering and half limping through a one-street town in Northern Michigan. Maybe you've seen him, too...I wonder. Have you even been looking? It's amazing what you can see when you are truly looking. Dust off those spectacles and tune in.

Lucky for all of us, Special Dental Team has written and recorded a tribute piece to this God of Groove "The Skeleton King."

Come worship with us: THE SKELETON KING

Also, start saving that lint-infected pocket change and be prepared for a filthy trash bag full of Special Dental Team goodies to hit the fan.

WARNING: Repeated listens to the song entitled "Dental Scam" may result in uncontrolled shaking and gyrating of the hip area. Use with caution. Special Dental Team will not be held responsible for any kind of indecent "booty shakin" that may occur. Although, dances such as "the twist" or "the alligator," we have been told, are completely acceptable.

"Dental Scam," has been posted on the main page. This song was written while in the studio recording "Career Ender" and has never been performed for a live audience. Oddly, even though written in about 1 hour, it has become one of Dental Team's favorite songs from the recording sessions.

If you don't already know, "Career Ender" is composed of new interpretations of older Special Dental Team material and improvised pieces edited to perfection by Johnny Unicorn for your listening pleasure. Believe me, if you listen to this music, YOU WILL FEEL BETTER. 100% satisfaction guaranteed, kiddies. Remember, grandpa may be old, but he can still move his fanny.

Shake your rooster booty and enjoy DENTAL SCAM

Special Dental Team
(Originally written for the DAACTAPUS 1)

Special Dental Team: everyone's favorite avante garde rock band currently exiled in Incheon, South Korea (or at least 66.6666666666666666666 percent of the band) till this summer. Consisting of Lapdancer on bass guitar, Johnny Unicorn on guitar, keyboard, and vocals and J.Hole Jackson on drums and percussion, the band insists, at least according to their official website, that each member contributes equally to the writing and arrangement of their music.

These days, with J.Hole in America, and Lapdancer and Johnny Unicorn not in America, the duo have formed, well, a duo, calling themselves Friend. As their site says, "Friend strives not to achieve musical innovation, but to create enchanting passages with near-visual intensity."

Whatever the fuck that means.

Regardless, there is still hope for Dental Team, despite the fact they have
A.) have no idea what they plan on doing
and
B.) have four albums in limbo.

I had a chance to chat with SDT, about all of this, as well as homosexual activity.

Q: Is Friend purely a side project, or has SDT evolved into Friend?
Lapdancer: I think SDT will always primarily be John, J.Hole and I, whereas, Friend is only John and I.

Q: So, it is?
LD: Yes, in a sense, it's a side-project. John does all the beats and we record everything onto his wonderful super-computer.

Q: Will there be a reformation of the Dental Team, or has that idea passed in favor of Friend?
LD: A reformation is definitely possible. We all left on excellent terms.

Q: Any specific plans once and if you get back together?
LD: We talk about re-recording our four albums. We have them now and have been scrutinizing them to all hell. We're quite unsatisfied. Also, there's always new material to be written.
Johnny Unicorn: I don't know if we'll ever have time to re-record anything. I would at least like to re-record "vacations...and other vacations" because I think that is our best stuff.

Q: But you still plan on putting out the albums you recorded?
JU: Yes.

Q: If there is a Dental Team reunion, will you implement Friend material?
LD: It would be interesting to hear Friend's music translated into a live band.

Q: So you're saying Friend doesn't do live shows?
LD: We played one show in Seoul, but it sucked. We were tired, uncomfortable and ill-prepared.

Q: Right... so you're saying there's a possibility of playing Friend material with SDT?
LD: Yes, kind of like a "Special Friend Team" or "Dental Friend Team" or something like that.

Q: Do you guys keep in touch with Jason?
LD: Yep, we keep in touch through email and messenger.

Q: What's he up to?
LD: He's a busy guy. He vanished for like two months and then sent us an email talking about the cool musical shit he'd been doing. He's an amazing drummer and an even more amazing lover. So I've heard.

Q: Right... so, essentially, there are no definite plans yet?
LD: Concretely speaking, no. We are all pretty floaty guys and selfish, too. We all have our own plans for the future... but, we're not against another good musical romp.

Q: So you're not opposed to another musical romp?
LD: We're not against another good musical romp.

Special Dental Team is currently spread out between Minnesota, Michigan and Ibaraki, Japan, working on artistic projects, working, researching and touring with different artists.

Between 2002 and 2003, we systematically wrote and recorded a trilogy of albums knowing that this "spread" would be inevitable. On August 11th, 2008, we played our first show in West Michigan to the delight of fans old and new, "Spirit Journey 2008". The energy blossomed and the response was alarmingly positive.

Now, even though we are, at present, physically dispersed, we are working harder than ever to spread the sound and world of Special Dental Team.

This year will see the release of a 5 Song EP taken from the recorded trilogy, T-shirts and other merchandise and more...much more.

If you have witnessed Special Dental Team live and wish to contribute to the band, please send us your thoughts on the live experience, your favorite song, etc.

The converging Venn Diagram speaks thus with a precious rooster calmly and sternly watching over, waiting to strike.
