Hi folks. Quick round up of the past few months for The Boot. There have been some rather huge thangs happening of late. Here is the quick version.

Jan / Feb saw the band take in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne for this years Devil's Kitchen Festival. The festival was headlined by UK act Winnebago Deal and featured the best of local talent at each show. Saw and played with some fucking awesome bands and engaged in questionable behavior with some good peoples. Cheers to everyone who helped put the shows together, especially Skye of The Little Bird Agency. Bring on 2010.

The band also played another of The Public Bar's classic album covers nights, this time they tackled the awesome "Songs For The Deaf" from Queens of the Stone Age. T'was an awesome night, cheers to Tommy & Pirie who joined the band on the night. Also on the bill were My Trainwreck Of A Life, their album being the Hottest 100 CD of 1995! Ace Of Base's "All That She Wants" was a thing to behold!

A big night was also had at Mt Hotham for the 2nd Cool Summer Festival. An amazing festival that is sure to be even bigger next year. Cheers to Lee Rosser and the crew for that one. All police enquires can be directed to legal@myleftboot.com .

The Boot will be playing a couple of shows in the next month or so, but following this will be bunkering down to record a full length album. Expect to see it later this year. Keep an eye out for more updates until then! Over...

Holy Shit! Yes its true, The Boot hit the Gershwin Room at the Espy on Friday the 19th of September for massive show with some of Melbourne's finest.

Kicking off the evening are the Thomy & The Tanks who have been blowing punter's minds in the short time that they have hit Melbourne.

Next up is Ancient Man, a fucking behemoth of riffs and power, on the verge of releasing their album "When they come, we will be ready".

Follow this with a performance from one of Melbourne's absolute punk / rock legends in the form of Fred Negro and his band the 57 Pages Of Pink. Fred has been doing things on stage to microphones, rubber chickens and his body since before most of us had genitals. A sight to behold.

Then it's the Boot. Who will be pumping out their own brand of huge fuzz rock on one the best stages in ye olde Melbourne town. With all the hallmarks of a My Left Boot show, huge banshee vocals, face pulverizing guitar and tight as shit rock, its gonna be one hell of a fucking gig.

Kicks off at 9pm. Get ya shit there.

My Left Boot's August residency at the Old Bar continues this Wednesday evening. Dubbed the "Olympic" night in a pure coincidence, the night will feature feats that test limits of human endurance and defy explanation. Events such as the triplet jump, the 60 minute face melt and the cockless four will be on show as The Boot goes up against HR Special (From the country of Bendigo). Starters gun fires at 8pm, performance enhancing drugs will be mandatory.

Sorry to say, but yes the H-Block Rock gig at the Old Melbourne Gaol has been moved to another date. Looks like the same line-up (Fauves, My Left Boot, The Service & Ancient Man), deal and insanely good times will all be present at this affair.

An announcement will made in the next couple of days concerning the new date, so stay tuned. Tickets go on sale soon after the date is locked in and will be limited (and cheaper on pre-sale) so be quick or fast as some call it.

I'm positive the lead singer of this Melbourne based 70's psychadelic/80's hard rock inspired band has no nipples. None at all. For the minute he first reached those near impossible high screams and squalls, I'm sure they just popped off like champagne corks, just from the shear pressure his body must have gone through in order to reach notes that most male singers would merely dream of, which is of course to say he joins the ranks of such nippleless alumni such as Robert Plant, Bon Scott, and Angry Anderson.

This five track e.p. bares all the resemblences of the 70's/80's inspired music that has been reheated in the musical microwave for quite a few years now, and in that way, fails to provide this humble, mentally challenged yet medicated reviewer with something fresh and nerve damagingly exciting. That's not to say it isn't exciting, it is, and if, as a listener, you are looking for something that isn't vastly different from other forms of sound waves, something you can spill your beer over while clutching your mates arm in arm screaming along to the stadium-like lyrics at the top of your lungs, then this may be for you. Just don't put an eye out when those God given strawberries 'n' creams come popping off your chest.

Now all that said, instrumentally, the playing is first rate, as tight as a monkey's sphincter, and the huge sound produced here will punch you in the face if you stand too close to the speakers. These guys can play up a storm, and the lead guitar wails and spews forth huge solos that will keep your head bangin' away for hours.

My impression is that lyrically, these guys aren't out to change the world, but rather, are in it to let off some steam and have some fun making music that you can dance and swill large amounts of booze to. I believe they succeed at this, in particular with the standout final track "Writer's Block"(my personal favourite), with the humourous chrous ,"You got writer's block, you got a small cock". Something you can chant over a Sunday roast with the family, really.

So when it's Friday, and you need a soundtrack to exhale away the week's mind numbingly, self harming tension to while giving the boss the preverbial forks, then this may be just what you're looking for. It's big, it's tough, and will make you wish you hadn't thrown away those fluffy dice.

As a few of you may have noticed, badass Bill Skermer has joined My Left Boot on bass. A freaky wrecking ball of high onstage energy, Bill comes straight out of the ashes of "Those Bloddy McKennas" and jumps straight back into the fire with a giant presence and fists full of bass fuzz. Check out one of his first gigs with the boot here. God damn!

Scot "Jorgensen" Aird leaves The Boot on good terms (Scotty I want my fucking tooth brush back, or you are not getting the cutlery set). Sure to be hearing his mind melting bass lines wrapped around your ears real soon.
