Hello world!

Just a quick note to tell you that we're currently booking a tour to celebrate the release of our next album!

Codenamed Tick-Tock, the album should be ready for release in March '09, so we are working on this cunning plan to tour several fine countries in March/early April next year to introduce our baby to you from the stage. :-)
Oh, and of course we'll be playing songs from Night and other soupy creations too!

In the hope that you are excited about this, you may ritually splash some cold & spicy tomato soup on all the dates between March 26th and April 5th on your 2009 calendar. (alternatively just circle the dates),
and be sure to pop by our websites in the weeks to come, as we'll communicate cities, days, times and venues the minute they are confirmed!

The plan is to visit England, France, Italy, Germany and of course lovely Holland, and doing several gigs in most of these great nations.
(Some may argue that Holland is a small nation, but they've always been great to us!)

So!
Break out the calendar and make you sure you don't book an early Easter holiday next year!
Watch this space..

Love from

Hello guys!

We're not dead.
Yet! ;-)

I've written a pretty long blog thingy on Last.FM.
It's bits and pieces about my view on the writing process and just a little report from my cabin.

You can find it under "Recent journals" on: http://www.last.fm/user/Johme/

Take care,
Jan :)

So for that reason I thought I'd see how this blog thing works to stay in touch and, finally to be a guy with a blog.

I notice that the ministry of information has gone wild in distributing truths, lies and the stuff in between the two of these in the abscense of anything to report from the trenches. Just remember to believe everything and nothing and you will be fine.

So anyway a new working title has emerged for the album and at the moment I kind of like it. The idea is to call it "Inside out". What do you all think? Does it sound good?

Frighteningly a google search on "Inside out" came up with the following link: "

Inside Out reports on Badgers and provides top tips for watching these elusive creatures. "

Please dont get the idea that the album has anything to do with badgers or any other elusive creatures apart from perhaps humans :)...

I will post this now and see if it works and if it shows up anywhere. I am not really good at myspacing.

Love and kisses

Tom

Current mood:  artistic

Last night we completed another section of the song which sounds like the soundtrack from a French film. We really should quit drinking red wine while we write.
O and Mikael havent heard it yet so we will see if it gets through the censors.
In September we will be recording the drums and bass for the new album and I really look forward to those sessions.
We still havent come up with a title for the new song but "night" is the filename I use in Cubase for it so thats the working title at the moment.

The first working title for it was "groove" so its improving. Very Happy

For anyone interested in recording I can report that at 45 mins we have used over 200 tracks in Cubase and my computer has trouble even opening the song. This is before bass and drums have been recorded!
So far over a thousand sound files have been recorded most of which are discarded vocal ideas. The file is about three gigs in size.

The song is heavily inspired by the moods of albums like Tangerine Dreams "Rubycon" and Tools "10,000 days" but there is a lot of classical music in there as well. Bits of Norwegian folk is used, in fact Mikael plays a piece called "Brides battle from Bjerkestrand" which is the same piece in played in the church at Jons wedding. Aaaah how sweet.

The song is a musical description of a dream where we follow a stream of consciousness and various images and memories in a dreaming mind.
It is very hypnotic, do not listen to this in a moving vehicle or if you are operating heavy machinery Smile - Actually it sounds like the soundtrack to a French porno film from the seventies, not that I have ever seen one Rolling Eyes .

I hope that we will be able to put previews of the track out on the site but usually this tends to be something that we say we are going to do only to disappoint everyone so I wont make any promises. The reason we really never get this done is because we always end up working on stuff up to the very last moment and we are never completely happy with anything as we discuss the final mix and the production of the song. I am famous for my "loud vocals" sound and finding the right level for the vocals is very difficult as just a change of one or two db's can change the way the song performs for the listener dramatically. Its like cooking.

I know that bands always say, about their newest album, how great it is and how its their favourite work from the group as of course they have to, if they want to create excitement about new stuff but I think most of us believe this to be a dramatic upgrade of the Gazpacho music. I would rather have written this album than any of our other ones, I have never heard anything sound quite like this. Its a journey. It has a dreamlike surreal and... well ....trippy feel and I love it.

As for the live thing, I am working on the mastering of a few live tracks from our gig in Paris at the end of last year that we will put out for your listening (dis)pleasure Laughing within next week so I hope you enjoy them and I hope they will warm you up for the next gig which is to my knowledge the Marillionweekend. We may do a warm up gig or three here in Norway before we go, and if we do we'll let you know in case anyone wants to come...
I hope we can all meet for a few drinks at the Marillionweekend. I love everything about Holland and know those of you you havent been there yet will too!
Hope you all had a fabulous and fluffy summer and may happiness and excitement fill the autumn and winter season.

Love. Tom

Yes, we've been absent for a few months so we just wanted to say hi to everyone and tell all gazpachoids on whats happening.

It's a time of frenzy, but we still manage to keep devoted to writing music. Currently we've written 30-40 minutes of music and tons more sketches waiting to be attacked later on. We can tell you now, that there is one very very long song that takes you through a dream, currently with the working title of 'night'. Some can call it a concept album I suppose as this is a track that goes through hypnotic levels to the same beat and the same tone... It's also something we have never heard of any band doing before and it has given a new perspective on gazpachos music.

So, in short, were coming up with a new album, our fourth one, and it all depends on timing as we really want to out with this at the end of the year, but if there is enough material by then, we could be launching our first ever double album. This one is going to be our best yet!

In the meantime we were originaly thinking of releasing a live album, but regretably the recording was just not good enough to allow it to be official (we just don't have access to that kind of recording equipment during live gigs), but alas, we might give some freebies away after the summer. However, if you're up for gossip and something to talk about over the summer (.:-)), we've just completed a comprehensive interview with a journalist named Josh Turner.

You can read it in approx. a weeks time on either progressiveworld.net or prog4you.com where youll finally get answers to what alot of the tracks are about and even things on a more personal level...

Adios amigos and have a beautiful summer!

Well, back in the dungeons again as we set off towards writing the 4th studio album. First time we've posted pictures of us in the process...

Finding the actual inspiration has never been a problem here it seems, as ideas just keep flowing, we've got enough to fill half an album already if we chose to do so... However, we want to approach the actual song writing process different this time around. Previously we had a tendency to write a more "completed demo", from track to track, where many of the original recordings in the writing process actually ended up on the album itself.

This was good, as sometimes the original approach/ take/riff/vocal line made the song and was difficult to recapture, but at the same time, there were other 'bits' that when re-recorded, just didn't capture that initial 'moment' again (any musician will understand this)... and this could have comprimised the original intent on direction of the song.

So, this time we're approaching it differently. The demos are recorded entirely as demos... so levels, sounds, effects, drums, loops or whatever are often completely way off the intended finished recordings... but we've got it in our heads, we know what it's going to be like at the end. I mean we've come so far, that at times we don't even have to talk to communicate anymore, just a look at each other says 'yes' or 'no'..

Anyhow, as soon as the demos are recorded, we'll all get together to re-record the entire thing again, this time with the 'correct' sounds, as a band. It's something we've learned from live experience, as the more we play around tracks and 'fool around', interesting things start to pop up which could have made the original recording more interesting.

Hope to keep you updated as we go along...:-)
