John Lindsey

Hope to see you guys around!

I'm sure many of you who still check up on us know that we have been very dormant this year. The begining of this year brought much change in the Futurists family and we have decided to slipt ways. All of us still plan on creating music in some form or fasion, and you will probably see some of us still collaborating outside of The Futurists. At least for now, we could just not carry on making the music we were. We all needed to break free and start new. We appreciate any and all support that people have given us in past years, and we hope that in new projects and new material that we can soon bring you newly evoled music. Please check back for we will inform you of any new music that Futurists' members put out. As of now you can check out Matt D's new project under www.myspace.com/verlaineband.

To all who helped us,
We thank you.

John, Matt Matt, Debu, and Shane.-

---Update!----

So there has been a bit of movement these days with the members of The Futurists. Everyone has been making strides towards forwarding their musical careers in their own directions. Shane is currently drumming for a couple of bands these day, Hawks (www.myspace.com/hawksisaband) and Vera Fang (www.myspace.com/verafangatl). They've both been hard at work in the studio respectively and have been gaining ridiculous amounts of respect in the music community. Matt D is still pursuing his role in the band Verlaine (www.myspace.com/verlaineband), who are in the process of finishing up and releasing a new CD. John has been hard at work taking on a solo aspect to the writing process and churning out beautiful song after beautiful song. The studio is in very near sight for him as well. Lastly Matt M has joined a new project over the past couple of months by the name of Dreaden (www.myspace.com/dreadenmusic). They just finished up in the studio and should be hitting the scene very soon with the new tunes. Everyone keep an eye out for all of the members of your former favorite band!

Thanks for keeping up and take care everyone!

Friends,

We have been on an adventure that has been about a month in the making.
We have decided to take some clip's from Shane's tour journal and some pics we have of the events and present them in this blog. Enjoy...

"...now on our way to Dallas. We just left Austin where we spent the last four days at SXSW. The festival itself was satisfactory, due to either the lack of talent among the musicians or my lack of interest for their music. I did enjoy being able to drink for basically free the whole time, and that I lived off of finger foods that some of the bars would serve. We always seemed to find a way to make things happen, being passing food through the window to DeBu, or grabbing a slice of pizza that wasn't ours. We shacked up in our newly purchased 99 Dodge van for our sleeping..."

"...today we grabbed some beer and smokes and watched an awesome jazz street band. After a little while DeBu rocked the traps with them, it was wicked. "

"The House Of Blues here in New Orleans is wonderful. We finally got to eat an actual meal, and they even sent us on the road with grub."

"Tonight killed the other nights. The people were good to us. There was alot of 'The Who' in the air tonight. Matt Matt told the lead singer of the band before us that they sucked at playing their 'Who' cover, so we rocked our 'Who' cover. It was quite the sight. More alcohol, more cigs..."

"The sun is pretty killer today. We had to pay our dues to the hundreds of deceased jellyfish washed up on the Atlantic coast. We also found out that jellyfish are very thick, and that a simple stick on the beach can not penetrate it. "

"We played in Atlanta tonight, it was nice to be intoxicated and sleep in our own beds for a couple nights."

"Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus kicked us in the face. We've had a healthy dose of Ohio. The shows have been well, but our heads are a little out of order. Today we found ourselves in the middle of a field exploring a myth about a certain special grouping of sticks, and yelling Ohio whenever we were in specially placed parts of the field."

"After a good long psychedelic jam, we left Dan's house for Baltimore."

"I love New York...I got to roll my window down, honk, and yell at New Yorkers. We had the pleasure of playing the Knitting Factory, and buying an $8 pack of smokes. We enjoyed ourselves that night onstage and after. Jason and Swirly came to our rescue."

"We left Jersey and are heading to Boston. It's getting very cold now, almost too cold to sleep. We will wake up in the middle of the night too cold to sleep again. We have been dumping gallons of coffee down our throats, and going through packs faster now..."

"It started snowing tonight in Buffalo, but Danny threw us a shot to warm our stomachs before our cold drive to Chicago. On the way, our van starts acting up...We figure to pull over and give it a rest and get off of the iced over roads."

"Things couldn't really get much worse. We're almost out of money. Our van is breaking down in the snow. We're driving about 10mph down the road, because our van won't go any faster."

"Damn, we've been stuck in a hotel for days and days, and still have to wait it out until our van gets fixed. We've been so bored, and it has been snowing 24/7 up here in Ohio. I can't believe we've found ourselves back in Ohio. We had to cancel the rest of our shows with Lola Ray. We wish them the best of luck, they are rockin' dudes. We may be going crazy again. To pass time we built a snowman, and a friend of ours has been keeping our spirits high.

Hello again friends,

We THE FUTURISTS have a little news to catch you guys up...

Studio news:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
-First things first, if you haven't heard, we are completely done with our recording session! We would personally like to thank Billy Hume @ The Zone studio! He is a great guy and a wonderful producer. The recordings turned out very well and we are very pleased to inform you that the recordings will be titled 'YES YOU CAN!'. We are in the middle of planning a release show, so keep an eye out over the next few months for a show and YES YOU CAN!!

-Also, speaking of YES YOU CAN!, 99x got ahold of some songs and just may be spinning them sometime Thursday nights...more to come later. :o)

-We are also pleased to inform you that we have a little blurp about our session in SE Performer's studio news section of the February 2007 issue. Here it is...

-SE Performer- Pg11
"THE ZONE. At press time, The Futurists, an up-and-coming four piece based in Atlanta, were deep in pre-production for an upcoming EP. The Futurists, who were featured in a Spotlight in the June 2006 issue of Performer, have since changed their line-up and are back in action with an intense indie rock sound and energetic live show. The band recorded throughout December with Billy Hume at The Zone in Norcross. Hume handled producing, engineering, and mixing duties on the as-yet-untitled project. This album will be the band's first recorded effort with the new lineup."
