Madison minimalist rockers All Tiny Creatures came by the studio last week to record an in-studio performance and interview in advance of their show at the Kitty Cat Klub with The Caribbean, which we'll be airing tonight in all its glory.

As far as epic instrumental concerts in the FUTURE go, you can always check out Events Calendar online at nowlikephotographs.com (scroll down - updated weekly).

Listen tonight via radiok.org, iTunes radio > Public > Radio K, 770am/104.5 (if you're in the Twin Cities), or if you miss it, check out the Episode Archive.

Ambient composer Ryan Potts, aka Aquarelle, will be joining us in the studio tonight to play some material from his brilliant upcoming release Slow Circles on his own Remedios label. He has two NLP-sponsored shows on the horizon:

The Calm Blue Sea
w/ Paragraphs & Aquarelle
Thurs Sept 3rd @ Big V's, 9pm, 21+

Empires w/ Frontier & Aquarelle
Fri Sept 25th @ The Whole Music Club, 7pm, All Ages

Also, tonight is my last official show! As of next week, Brendan will be the sole host of Nowlikephotographs, with intern Willie training to be co-host in the near future. Joe will continue to do the podcast and I will be starting up a blog component of nowlikephotographs.com, to be announced and unveiled soonish.

To celebrate 5+ years of my hosting of epic instrumental radio, I will countdown the Top 20 Instrumental Songs of My Life after Aquarelle's performance. Hope you can listen in!

Listen tonight 7-9pm CST via radiok.org, iTunes Radio > Public > Radio K, or if you're in the Twin Cities, 770am/104.5fm. And of course the Episode Archive will have the episode for the next couple weeks starting around 9pm CST tonight.

In the studio tonight, the self-explanatory collective International Novelty Gamelan will be joining us. I've never seen or heard one gamelan much less a gaggle of them in person, so this should be wayyyy interesting. They're in to promote their performance this weekend conducting a live gamelan score to a classic film in Stillwater, MN.

Sat Aug 15th: International Novelty Gamelan @ Square Lake Film Festival in Stillwater, 10pm, All Ages

Tune in via 770am/104.5 or radiok.org - and of course if you miss it, you can always check it out on the Episode Archive, but it'll only be available for two weeks!

Sorry for being behind on updating the blog here on the MySpace. Everything's always up to date on our official site nowlikephotographs.com so head over there to see announcements on exciting upcoming in-studio events, record of the week rundowns, and more.

But here's a reminder that the last two episodes are available to stream via our Episode Archive, one of which includes an in-studio performance and interview with local improvisational trio Goodday Montag, and the other of which features Virginia post-rockers Gifts From Enola, who stopped in right before their show at the Turf Club last week.

New York based trio Barky will be in the studio tonight to perform live and chat a bit. The intensely spazzy mathy rockers are visiting right before they have to head out to the Uptown Bar for a show tonight. Details:

Wednesday, July 15h @ The Uptown Bar, 9pm, 21+

Brett Bullion, aka Tarlton, will be stopping by tonight to either play an exclusive laptop mix of rare/unreleased epic instrumental bedroom electronica and/or click away on his drumkit like he recently did at the latest entry in the Wordless Music Series at the Southern Theater last week.

Tune in via radiok.org or 770am/104.5fm if you live in the Twin Cities! If you miss it, check out the Episode Archive later in the week to hear it.

Also stop by the Archive for last week's in-studio performance, a pre-recorded session with Hotel Hotel of Austin, who jammed out on some heavily reverbed strings and guitars when they visited the Radio K studios in late May.

On the program tonight, original co-host Joe (who now lives in San Francisco) is in town and will be back behind the mic for one night only! Also, we'll be airing an interview with neo-classicist Johann Johannsson from Denmark, who will be performing with what's sure to be an astounding six-piece string section next Tuesday at the Southern Theater for an NLP-sponsored event:

Tons of concert/NLP announcements before tonight's episode...

Our favorite Brooklyn pianist, Nico Muhly, is back at the Southern Theater for a two-night stint starting tonight. He's playing with vocal artist Son Lux and modern dancers will be accompanying their performances. It's a Radio K and Nowlikephotographs-sponsored event at 7:30pm and it's All Ages! Plus, there's a wine and cheese hour preceding the music, making this a truly classy opportunity to get out the bar environment and enjoy some beautiful soundscapes...

Also tonight, Windy & Carl are playing a very abruptly scheduled show at the Cedar Cultural Center. The infamous ambient duo are playing alongside MN artists and past NLP-visitors Paul Metzger on his wacked-out banjo plus hazy folk outfit Thunderbolt Pagoda, featuring members of Salamander. Music for this one also starts at 7:30pm and as always, an All Ages show...

Lastly, on nowlikephotographs tonight, an in-studio session and interview with Take Acre, featuring former members of The Pins, will be aired. They are heading up and playing the Heliotrope Music Festival at the Ritz Theater at the end of the month...more info on that smorgasbord of experimental/instrumental music to come soon. Listen in at radiok.org, 770am, or 104.5fm...

Don't forget to check out our Episode Archive for full two-hour blocks of epic instrumental post-rock, ambient, neo-classical, bedroom electronica, and more...
