Former Michael Jackson Guitar Player to perform with Funkiphino
Michael Jackson’s former lead guitarist, Jennifer Batten, will be performing with local 13-piece funk band, Funkiphino, for a special public engagement on July 30 at the FlatIron Crossing Summer Nights Concert Series in Broomfield, Colorado.
Broomfield, CO (PRWEB) July 23, 2009 – Funkiphino, Colorado’s 13-piece funk sensation, will be joined on stage with guitarist Jennifer Batten of Michael Jackson fame. Batten will be performing with Funkiphino at the 2009 FlatIron Crossing Summer Nights Concert Series in The Village at FlatIron Crossing in Broomfield, Colorado, on Thursday, July 30, from 6-9pm.
Funkiphino and Batten will be performing a Michael Jackson tribute set as well as other Funkiphino favorites. Batten may also perform material from her new CD Whatever. “This will be the first time we have performed live with our friend Jennifer and are looking forward to an incredible performance at FlatIron Crossing” says Chris Fischer, keyboard player for Funkiphino. “There are very few guitar players in the world that have mastered their instrument at her level. She is truly a world class musician and we are honored to have her join us on stage for this special show.”

Jennifer Batten performed with Michael Jackson on three world tours including the Bad, Dangerous and HIStory tours as well as a super bowl half time performance. In addition, she recorded and toured with guitarist Jeff Beck for three years that included two CDs and two world tours. She has released three of her own solo CD projects and was featured on Funkiphino’s 2006 release Rise Above on the track I’ll Be Waiting.
Funkiphino has been successfully performing in Colorado for over ten years and is recognized as one of the top bands in the region. The group performs a wide range of high energy funk, soul and R&B and features an explosive 5-piece horn section, 3 dynamic female vocalists and a rock solid rhythm section.
