Plecs Appeal is the first ever plectrum amnesty and it's all about raising awareness of teenage mental health (and eventually some cash too).

Basically, WE WANT YOUR PLECS. Send them to us!

We'd like to receive a plectrum and a little note from anyone in a band who gives a pluck about teenage mental health. Or anyone who totally understands how much better a regular rock out can make you feel.

So, if you're young and passionate and like to play guitar, we want your plecs!! If you're a massively famous indie megastar, that would be really nice too.

Once we've got loads, they will all be displayed as some kind of big statement and auctioned off. So by sending us a plec you're lending your support and helping to raise money without hardly having to lift a finger. Phew.

Send your plecs over to: Plecs Appeal, PO Box 59216, London, nw3 9fb with your myspace address. Do. It. Now. And then leave us a comment to tell us you have.

Born on January 15, 1923, Cutler grew up in a large middle-class family in Glasgow

One of the most unique figures on the pop music fringe, Ivor Cutler was a musician, singer, songwriter, poet, actor, painter, author of books for children, and humorist. His droll, often surreal, sometimes melancholy humor permeates all of his work. His singing voice, a mordant baritone with perhaps the thickest Scottish burr ever captured on tape, is as singular as his idiosyncratic worldview.

If you're in an unsigned band in Scotland, you live for T Break' www.tbreak.co.uk

T Break 2005 entrant

Now as integral to the Scottish music scene as a skinny tie is to Alex Kapranos, T Break is a known and loved highlight of the Scottish musical calendar. Artists such as Biffy Clyro, The Grim Northern Social, The Cinematics and Dogs Die in Hot Cars have all been involved with T Break and now, once again we are calling on all new and exciting talent to let us sample their sounds.

If you are making music in Scotland then we want to hear it. T Break is open to any unsigned musical act resident in Scotland, provided you are over the age of 18, and performing original material. All genres are welcome to submit an entry, so whether you think you're the next Franz Ferdinand or Eminem, or anywhere in between, we want to hear from you.

You can download an application here*, and send it along with a demo of no more than 3 of your best tracks to:

T Break 2006

Tennent Caledonian Breweries

Wellpark Brewery

161 Duke Street

Glasgow

G31 1JD

to arrive no later than 23rd March 06

Demos should be submitted on CD or tape only. Unfortunately T Break cannot accept submissions via email or on minidisk. We regret that entries cannot be returned. Please label your entries clearly, with band name, contact details and track listing on the demo itself, that way in the unlikely event of it being separated from your entry form, we'll still be able to let you know what we think.

All submissions will be heard by the T Break judging panel, made up of representatives from our partners at DF concerts, Radio One in Scotland, PRS, Sunday Herald and Fopp. The best 48 will then be invited to play the T Break showcases which take place at Glasgow's King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and Edinburgh's Liquidroom where the judging panel will expand to include A&R representatives and other key music industry members. 12 bands will then be invited to play on the T Break stage at Britain's Best Music Festival, T in the Park.

We look forward to hearing from you!

In the meantime, take a look at advice from Dave McGeachan, DF Concerts, on what catches the attention of the T Break judges. And you can read an interview with Biffy Clyro, as they explain the impact T Break had on their career.
