Just a brief update for all of you who read these things,

We're still working on finishing all the tracking for the EP. It's coming up a treat and we're stoked with how it's sounding thus far and we all hope you dig it. We're still a little bit away with the release, but all the pieces are falling in the right place at the right time.

We've started to receive some artwork from our main man, Graphic Dan, and even that has rocked our socks off, so all in all,it's going to be a neat little package.

A film clip is in the works, just having a nightmare of a time finding a location. Who would have thought that'd be the hardest thing? We'll be working with Will Gaffney (the man responsible for the Brutal Australia DVD), so that's another thing we're stoked about.

More details to come guys. We have a fresh batch of tees, so swing by one of our shows and pick one up.

So we started tracking vocals last week. We had two whole days to work with, and everything was going well until Daniel was reduced to vomiting up pizza and apple after slamming back four mother energy drinks.

That's how we roll in StS baby. If we aren't putting our hands in power saws, we're OD'ing on energy drinks.

BUT, in those two days we got a shitload done and it's all sounding soda! We're back in the studios this Friday (before our MASSIVE show at Musicland) to see if we can get it all done and dusted.

You're going to be seeing a farmiliar face strumming a guitar on stage at a few of our upcoming shows. Simon, being the sexual master he is will be filling in for Shane while he and his wife Sophie welcome a baby boy to the world early October!!!

Kudos for Simon and Shane & Sophie and their forthcoming UFC champion of the world???!!!!?????

You're all pretty much up to speed now, but we've got a few announcements....to announce....on the horizon, so stay tuned.

Ah! So you chose to find out how things are going in the studio?

WELL...

As of last Friday, all of the music is down for the six tracks we chose to put on the record. It took a little longer than first anticipated, but the extra time proved to be golden when it came to going through all the songs and adding little parts here and there, adding layers for maximum impact and just basically getting our studio wings wet.

During this time, there has been two suspected swine flu cases, jobs lost, babies born, equipment blowing up, more sicknesses, jobs gained, babies yet to be born, faulty guitar leads, killer shows, a few hangovers, we've gone through the lot! It's been a rollercoaster, but hearing what we've done so far, we be crumpin hard and getting loads of footage to share with you all soon.

We're still a fair bit off with vocals to be added soon and the mixing and mastering and all the other uninteresting jazz to be done, BUT FUCK!!!! YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS SHIT!!!!

But what will it be called??????

First off, a MASSIVE welcome to our two newest members Daryl and Bulldog. I know, I know, Bulldog has been in the band for a few months now, but that's how long it's been since we've updated our blogs and kept all of you who actually spend the time to read these in the loop. Our bad!

But yep, we've landed ourselves a new lead guitarist in Daryl, and things are moving full steam ahead and we are all whistling to the tune that is "Release a motherfucking CD this year", and that's exactly what we're on track in doing.

Recording has begun, and although we are still in the early stages of tracking (drums are done), hopes are high that this record will garner us some new fans and keep the ones we already have happy. No name has been penned for the release, and it is far too early to even start considering a release date, but we are committed to putting allot of time and effort into this, so it will be ready when we feel it is ready.

ALSO, what we have been doing is collecting a SHITE load of footage that we will be compiling into a DVD that we hope will be released with the EP....That is a plan that we are working on, but if things don't come to fruition and it isn't released with the EP, it'll definately be available seperately.

Without giving too much away, there are a few other ventures we are endeavouring on that are really cool and exciting, and when the time comes we will share this news, but for now I think you are all up to speed with where Scar the Surface is!!!

We've been auditioning over the past month or 2 and while we have had some good talent come into the studio we feel there may be more out there before we make a decision on who the (un)lucky new 5th member is going to be.
 
What we need is someone thats adaptable, has pro gear, transport, dedicated, finacially stable, ideally between 18-28, reliable, flexible, passionate about music, willing to travel to Sth suburbs to rehearse and most of all not afraid to get down and have some fun!!
 
A good ability to play drums wouldn't go astray either!
 
So if you fit the bill be quick and let us know before the door closes.....

SO...
We entered Melbourne Records at noon on Friday, January 16th, 2009 to record our new single "Your Delusion, My Hatred" with our old buddies Ren and Adam. The day was full of general gentlemanly banter, kicking the footy, capturing studio footage, reading adult magazines, drinking allot of beer, and the odd laying down a musical track.
This whole studio thing is still a new thing for us, but for the next 11 hours we adapted and left Melbourne Records feeling like we accomplished our best work to date.
"Your Delusion, My Hatred" is a bit of a departure for us and our previous recording experiences, as we were willing to try some new things, and add some new elements we haven't really explored before, and as far as we're concerned, it worked a fucken treat!!!
Tomorrow we go back to mix and master and take the final product home, and while we wait for the artwork and film clip to be edited, the song will remain unreleased for a few weeks at least.
As for the future, we are still looking for a drummer to take Jeff's place, but in the meantime we will continue to write/demo new material for the new album. We are not doing any shows for a little while, while we concentrate on doing our thang, but give it a little while and you'll be moshing along to our new track.
