"THE TROUBLE WITH KATIE ROGERS" GRAPHIC NOVEL. is a "little something for the ladies" from British Illustrator Des Taylor, whose work has already received plaudits from the likes of Louise Redknapp, Denise Richards, Michael Jackson, Geri Halliwell, LA designer Jazmin Whitley and celebrity jeweller Theo Fennell, to name a few . And now his thousands of followers on Katie Roger’s official Myspace will get a chance to see his latest character leap of the screen and onto the printed page in the artists’ first graphic novel. "I wanted to create a female hero, but one that girls could relate to. After putting up Katie's webstrips online, the response I got from girls was overwhelming. They are the ones that pushed me to make it into a full graphic story." said creator Des Taylor. ===================================================================================

What is The Trouble with Katie Rogers?
Katie Rogers is a beautiful, independent, British born publicist working in New York with some of the city’s biggest celebrities; A-list parties, award ceremonies, exclusive nightclubs and penthouse dinners are the sort of places her job requires her to be.But Katie's personal life isn't so glamorous. She is a workaholic that is on the brink of losing her boyfriend due to her work load. And her nemesis at work - the evil Crystal Rose - is out to make Katie’s life a misery every time she goes into the office.
The Trouble with Katie Rogers has the high speed antics of a romcom, all the fun and action of a traditional Graphic Novel, with short stories & anecdotes that reveal Katie’s outlook of her love of New York, clothes, and the perils of being a woman of the 21st century.
Katie Rogers is for women who want a little lighter reading with their bookstore coffee, for girls who might not have thought there was anything in a traditional comic store for them, and for boys who feel a little bit guilty for spending the whole day in the comic store instead of with their girl, but have left it too late to run to the florist!
The Trouble With Katie Rogers is published by www.ape-entertainment.com as a single issue OGN (7”x10”, 144 pages, full colour) scheduled for bookstores July 2009 and is listed in the May edition of Previews ( previews #248)

As a prelude to African History Month, the J-Life trio of Robert Mitchell, Daniel Crosby and Taylor, (award winning editor of www.jazzreloaded.com ) are reunited on stage for the first time in a decade for a live multimedia show based on Vidal Montgomery’s pulp sci-fi book, The Horizon Venture, a futuristic retrospective on the middle passage.
With visuals by Des Taylor, physical theatre by Nicole Pschetz, narration and vocals by Nanar Vorperian, Plus Chris Jerome ( keys), and Donald Gamble, (percussion)
The Horizon Venture is the Race for Space, reloaded; it’s a pulp science fiction multimedia mashup; video, visuals, spoken word, narrative, physical theatre and dance all set to live music performed by the UK’s top improvisers.
The Horizon Venture is an expression of ideas of citizenship and humanity as they relate to us now, and as they will relate to us when we discover worlds beyond our own.
2009 marks the 400th anniversary of the launch of the Sea Venture, which set sail from England headed for the New World, laden with enslaved African humans, forced into establishing colonial settlements.
2009 also marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo Space program’s moon landing, in which The leader of that New World again began a quest to explore unknown worlds at a time when many in his New World were still fighting for free access to voting, books, transport, things that can easily be taken for granted today.
Today, the leader of that New World is of direct African descent. And he observes that "There is another generation of kids out there that is looking up at the sky and they'll be the next Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin"
Today, as we look again to Mars and beyond the stars, The Horizon Venture invites AfroPeans in particular, and urbanites in general, to ensure they are truly stakeholders in our collective vision for the future through multimedia – and in so doing, perhaps express their own solutions to tomorrow’s problems today, a little closer to home.

MAY PREVIEWS order code : The Trouble With Katie Rogers: Season One - MAY09 0644
British Illustrator Des Taylor has announced to us that his long awaited graphic novel "THE TROUBLE WITH KATIE ROGERS" is available for stores and comic shops to pre-order from the May 2009 Previews catalog .
With thousands of followers on Myspace and celebrity plaudits from the likes of Louise Redknapp, Denise Richards , LA designer Jazmin Whitley and celebrity jeweler Theo Fennell, Katie Rogers has been a labour of love for Des Taylor.
"I wanted to create a female hero, but one that girls could relate to. After putting up Katie's webstrips online, the response I got from girls was overwhelming. They are the ones that pushed me to make it into a full Graphic story." said Des.
"For years I used to go into comic stores and spend like £60 pounds on comic books a month and always felt guilty that I couldn't buy my girlfriend anything she would like or any comic character I could get her into. Now I feel I have created a comic book that a guy can pick up for his girlfriend at a comic convention or his local comic store and something she will love him for."
Katie Rogers is a beautiful, independent, British born publicist working in New York with some of the city's biggest celebrities; A-list parties, award ceremonies, exclusive nightclubs and penthouse dinners are the sort of places her job requires her to be.
But Katie's personal life isn't so glamorous. She is a workaholic that is on the brink of losing her boyfriend due to her work load. And her nemesis at work - the evil Crystal Rose - is out to make Katie's life a misery every time she goes into the office.
The Trouble With Katie Rogers book has the high speed antics of a romcom, all the fun and action of a traditional Graphic Novel, with short stories & anecdotes that reveal Katie's outlook of her love of New York, clothes, and the perils of being a woman of the 21st century.
Des Taylor will be signing his book at the ART OF DES TAYLOR exhibition at the Rich Mix Gallery in East London, during the GEEK CHIC comic/game and movie festival. He will also be contributing artwork to the DC comics and GI Joe exhibitions at Geek Chic as well as appearing at San Diego Comic con.

Taylor playing a Sandarac bass. Photo by www.william-ellis.com It’s been a long time since i’ve posted. I’ve been working on some amazing projects in the mean time, such as Omar Puente’s new album, and of course the Jazz Warriors AfroPeans tour, which continues in the Norwich and Norfolk Festival on Wedneday 13th. I’d like to thank Danelle Harvey for holding down the fort while I’ve been away, and making sure that things get reviewed and brought to you even if I haven’t got time to check them out myself - which is often the case. I’d also like to thank - and welcome - newcomers to the jazzreloaded review team - Victoria Woode , who wrote a great reveiew of Lauren Dalrymple’s album, which I can’t wait to hear, and Fiona Mckinson , who has a long list of reviewing credits to her name over at www.thetalentshow.co.uk - check it out!
parliamentary jazz awards 2009 The upshot of all this hard work from this great review team ( not forgetting Rachel Forsyth or the guys from Rebel Music ) , is that the jazzreloaded blog has been nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award for best jazz publication, alongside fellow web-based jazz news aggregator The Jazz Breakfast , and jazzwise magazine, now online, and also in print for the last decade - no mean feat for a jazz publication! Whoever wins, there’s surely no doubting the growing influence of the web in getting jazz news from the roots to the fruits, so I ‘d like to thank all the visitors to the site that have helped push this dream of an AfroPean jazz social network into the limelight. I could’nt have possibly known when I started, but that is jazzreloaded. Jazz for the Obama generation.

The UK album Launch for Salsa Con Soul will take place at
London's Jazz Cafe on 21st November 2008 - Click here for tickets!
Alex Wilson's new album. Click to hear music
Ever since Alex Wilson released his first Salsa album "Inglaterra" last year in 2007, salsa fans all over the world were dancing to his hit tunes "Ain't Nobody, Show Me and Inglaterra." The UK Salsa scence's best kept secret, Alex Wilson's music retains its' underground sound, but with that hard hitting Afro-Cuban beat mixed with Rhythm and Blues, and with soulful vocals from the likes of Mary Pearce, Aquilla Fearon and Lauren Dalrymple, thousands of fans worldwide in clubs are screaming for more of Alex Wilson - including Yours Truly, Ms Katie Rogers!
And to all that have been waiting for news Katie…wait no more! taylormade studios has put pen to paper and signed with APE ENTERTAINMENT-www.apecomics.com to produce their first graphic novel, choc-full of short stories from contributing writers, comic strips and a full length graphic story of one of Katie's many capers around NYC.
Katie's 8000+ myspace fans will have to wait a little while longer to see their heroine on the shelves- JUNE 2009 is the official launch date - but now at least they have Alex's music to get them in the mood. There will of course be a couple of launch parties with the usual jazzreloaded vibe, so keep your eye on this space!
