November 25, 2009 - Wednesday
So lots of Corner shows coming up this weekend with Tim Rogers' awesome Rolling Stones extravaganza.  We'll then be up in Sydney on Dec 11,12 and 13 to do two shows with Tim and then a headline at the excellent CADFactory in Marrickville on Sunday afternoon.  Should be fun.

We also have a new tee available via our online store - we've always wanted a decent tee for Altamont Diary and the Tim shows gave us a good opp so here you go:

Finally, check out these new clips on our YouTube channel:

October 8, 2009 - Thursday

We're playing at Triple R's awesome performance space next Thurs October 15th for a Live To Air on Karen Leng's sultry Kinky Afro show (6.30-7pm).  If you're interested in coming along to watch and heckle live (and for free!) just email me your names and we'll add them to the door (BUT you need to be an RRR subscriber which you should be already ya know).  Mr Ron Peno will be along to perform Ghost Anthems.

RRR is at 221 Nicholson St (Cnr Nicholson & Blyth), Brunswick East 3057 Melbourne (Directions).

Current mood:  amused
So we're confirmed for a RRR Live To Air at Triple R's great East Brunswick Street performance space - let us know if you'd like to come along and heckle us in the flesh.  The LTA will air on Karen Leng's Kinky Afro show on Thursday October 1615th at 6.30pm.  Cab have always had something of a thing for Ms Leng so we're excited to be part of her awesome show.

Also - You Am I's Tim Rogers plus mega band is doing a one-off performance of legendary late 60's era Stone's classics under the moniker ‘Charlie’s Good Tonight’ (Corner Hotel Friday 27th Nov) and has invited the Cab to perform our debut album, Altamont Diary in full as support for the evening. We're looking for a few eager Hell's Angels bikers to act as our security if anyone's interested (mainly to protect us from Tim Rogers)...

More details and bookings (will almost certainly sell out):

"Marking the 40th anniversary of this remarkable recording at Madison Square Garden, Tim Rogers has assembled the finest list of musicians Melbourne has to offer to pay homage to this landmark live album. However, ‘Charlie’s Good Tonight’ will not only celebrate the New York shows but draw inspiration from all the great moments of that 1969 North American tour – including the infamous Altamont performance and the live debut of some staple Stones classics. Opening proceedings will be Melbourne’s own Black Cab playing their Long Player ‘Altamont Diary’ in its entirety."

New album getting some nice wraps.  We've done a little video clip for Church In Berlin that's up on YouTube that was put together by the most excellent Kali Batemen.  It's the Cab hamming it up in front of various Stasi offices (thank the lord for blue screen).  Enjoy.

Couple of new tracks from forthcoming LP Call Signs up today.  Church In Berlin and Dresden Dynamo - a little atmos track inspired by Stasi-backed East German football team Dresden Dynamo (more on them here).  We'll be posting some more tracks soon.

We're also very happy to announce supports for the NSC gig on July 17th from the excellent Wellyn and Queens Head (new side project from Dannny Sub Audible Hum).  Should be a great night!

New Black Cab single 'Rescue' (b/side 'Black Angel') is due out before end of June and we'll be launching this single at the Northcote Social Club on Friday July 17th with some special guests.  This is our first major show for donkeys and we'll be looking to put on something special. Single is off the forthcoming album 'Call Signs' which will be out late July on the excellent Laughing Outlaw Records.  More news as it comes in...

May 10, 2009 - Sunday

Current mood:  bouncy

Hey there - I do hope you are travelling mighty fine despite these days of swine and economic clusterfuckdom...

Few bits of news - we're very happy to announce that the new Cab album will be released on Stuart Coupe's marvellous Laughing Outlaw label this August, with the first single available in late June.  First shows are planned for Melbourne in July (Northcote Social Club - date tba) and an album launch the following month in Melbourne and then Sydney.  The full band is finally back in town having been journeying to parts other than Melbourne and we look forward to settling back into a nice live groove.

That's it for now - more news on live dates as soon as we confirm dates.

Rock on.
