MISQUOTED AT BRIXTON ACADEMY

i just thought i should write this to anyone who is interested. It's been reported in a couple of reviews (the NME and The Independent) that at our Brixton Academy show that I made a comment to the audience "You are a bunch of miserable bastards". Some people might think it's no big deal but i think it's actually important to point out that i did infact say "WE are a bunch of miserable bastards", which seemed appropriate at the time as it was just after the song 'Happy When it Rains'. I've asked both of these publications to print a retraction, but i'd have more chance of the editors coming round cleaning my toilets. I have been told that they will print my letter though. so let's wait and see...
But for what it's worth, and for whoever cares, it amazes me that we can still play in venues such as The Brixton Academy, and that anyone cares enough to come, i certainly don't take a Jesus and Mary Chain audience for granted.

A rather fine 2006.  The long awaited LP "Back On The Water"(on Planting Seeds) was met with critical praise through various magazines across the world. Filter Magazine (US) selected the CD as their pick of the week, All Music Guide raved "big guitar riff/pop hook blast...country/folk-as-such songs...winners..."
The praise continues on - Freeheat made a couple of Best of 2006 Lists: Lost Music(UK - thanks Trev!)   Have tabbed BOTW as the #1 LP for 2006. Hybrid Magazine have also selected the album as tops for 2006. More praise at year end polls are sure to follow.

In more Freeheat/JAMC etc related news: Linda Reid's Sister Vanilla is set to be released worldwide on the UK based label Chemikal Underground (it was released in Japan via P-Vine records in 2005) in March 2007. The LP differs from the original version, featuring all new mixes and more! The LP includes backing from William & Jim Reid, along with Ben Lurie. Here is the official Press Release:

"SISTER VANILLA JOIN THE CHEMIKAL BROTHERHOOD... We can't tell you how excited we are to announce that Chemikal Underground will be releasing Little Pop Rock by Sister Vanilla in March of next year.
Featuring the talents of Jim and William Reid (ex Jesus & Mary Chain) with their sister Linda on vocals, Little Pop Rock is everything you could hope for: amazing tunes, stunning guitars shrouded in attitude and wrapped in style. Little Pop Rock will be released on March 19th preceeded by an extremely limited AA 7" single. More details to follow but in the meantime check out Jamcolas on our (My Space) jukebox." Also available to stream is 'K To Be Lost' from the Chemikal Underground website. Both this and Jamcolas sound different to the previously Japanese only LP versions.
