"Genesis," J-ricz's first solo album project enfolds 15 original tracks reminiscent of the writing style of Ne-yo, the sultry sound of Robin Thicke, and the powerful yet heartfelt voice of Usher.  "Beautiful Life," a mid-tempo song opens up the theme of the album.  J-ricz sings about his epiphany of music as a dominant factor in his life.  The journey of the album then leads you to a few upbeat club tracks, followed by more mid-tempos songs with a groovy but classic feel, such as "It's all about you".  Then J-ricz slows it down and lets you enjoy listening to his captivating voice.  Not only are the melodies and beat productions engaging, the lyrics to all the songs are very mesmeric and well written as well.  Such as the song "Hear My Prayer," where his religious influence is genuinely heard.  In this song, J-ricz gives emphasis to holding on to your faith.  The album, Genesis, will take you to a musical adventure with its diverse mix of songs that will surely capture everyone's heart.

J-ricz Biography

            Imagine a young five year-old … eyes glued to the television set, watching one of his favorite artists perform, while thousands of loyal fans scream in admiration. That is the picture J-ricz remembers when recalling his very first interest in performing. Through the power of lyrics and rhythms, he too, hopes to inspire others.  Originally from the Bay Area, J-ricz, an R&B, Ballad, and Pop artist, now takes his act to Southern California with the aspiration of becoming more renowned in the Philippine music industry.

            J-ricz developed his deep passion for music back in high school when his choir teacher, Mrs. Sablinsky, urged him to create his own group in the choir, which she would later call her "Barbershop Quartet." The Barbershop Quartet's first performance was one filled with both anxiety and excitement. Yet, it was this prominent night that would take J-ricz's love for music and performing to much greater heights.

After graduating high school, J-ricz and his friends from choir, sought to form a singing group. After two years, and being with four other groups, Next Phaze was finally formed in 2000. As a group—Chris Dacoron, Rich Gaddi, Delfin Lazaro, and Carlo "J-ricz" Ricafort—performed for six years in cities throughout California, and Georgia, Washington and Nevada. Together, Next Phaze, hoped to break barriers by succeeding in the mainstream music industry. Over their six-year journey, Next Phaze established their independent label and released their first self-titled EP album in 2003. Next Phaze later released their full length album entitled, Back to the Mic, on August 2006. As a songwriter for many of Next Phaze's songs, J-ricz's music has also been in included in various compilation CDs, and also featured in Lumpia, a Filipino independent film.

J-ricz's experiences while with Next Phaze have been invaluable, instilling the importance of collaboration and dedication. Now focusing on his solo career, he is currently working on his debut album, Genesis, which marks the beginning of his own music as a soloist. Genesis, scheduled to be released in 2008, will feature the smooth blends that have helped him and his former group, Next Phaze, earn a fan base of over 10,000 people.

            "Music is music," J-ricz states. "It doesn't matter what genre you sing or whether you are in a group or a soloist." It's the passion for music, and the drive to inspire others that really matter in the end. J-ricz continues the goal that he and his former group, Next Phaze, once envisioned—to go beyond the norm and inspire others that anything is possible.
