It seems it is ready sooner that we thought. And in three colour options

HER NAME IS CALLA - THE HERITAGE CD/LP

Formed some years ago out of a desire to create music that had a more emotional core, Her Name is Calla have since expanded to a six piece, seven if you include occasional addition of cello. The music they make is the music they want to make. Encapsulating brass, strings, pianos, oddities and anything else at their disposal, they craft songs and music that have a heart. That heart may not always be the one people are used to, not the bright red shining symbol of love and hope, but a heart somehow more personal. For fans of Godspeed You Black Emperor, A Silver Mt. Zion etc.

"This album comes extremely recommended. 8/10" Silent Ballet

'The Heritage' is, simply put, a masterpiece of modern music...they have produced what must surely be one of the records of 2008. 6/6" Sonic Dice

"...there can be no denying that Her Name Is Calla are one of the most daring, unconventional bands the UK has to offer right now. For that alone we should all be exceedingly thankful. 8/10" Drowned in Sound

"Suffice to say, there had to be a step forward at some point, and clearly this is it. 10/10" Rockfood Magazine

"Its a terrific record in terms of both scope and achievement. 9/10" The Four Oh Five.

Hello all

This is just a quick email to say thank you to everyone who came out
to support us on our tour. There were a few problems at the start:
illness and a van breakdown (we're looking to putting on some free
gigs in York and Newcastle as our way of apology to the folks who came
out to those gigs).

But Europe was amazing. We had an incredible experience and met some
amazing people. We will be looking to touring Europe again in April.
Soon we will upload some photos and videos from the tour to our
website. Bumping into Bill Callahan was a particularly high point. As
well as the volume of people that turned up to each gig. It was hugely
surprising and we felt very welcomed.

We have recently completed a few interviews and live sets for folks
that we will direct you to as soon as they appear online.

As most of you know, the restock of our album 'The Heritage' is now
available from either Denovali Records
<http://denovali.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=2126>
in Europe or Gizeh <http://www.gizehrecords.bigcartel.com/>
in the UK, depending on which is most appropriate for you. We are
told that the limited vinyl run is ready to be pressed very soon.

We will follow up soon with another mail regarding the vinyl, new
tour dates, videos, music and other content. We are currently out of
stock of Condor and River 12" and posters but have a few shirts left
after the tour.

Again, many thanks to you all for helping us maintain the faith.

Watch 'Garth Merenghi's Darkplace' if you can.

Lots of love

Howdy

After yet another disappointing transfer of an Alan Moore book to film
('Watchmen' - okay it was pretty good, but not a patch on the book), we
were happy to play our first show in many, many months. The Luminaire
in London last week was fantastic. If you don't mind the hideous audio
quality, we've found some youtube clips

HERE and HERE .
One is the of the 'bordering on the ridiculously loud' end of New
England (is everyone doing a drum off in their songs nowadays?) and
also, a lovely solo by newcomer Sophie Green.

It was great to be playing again and if we see any nice live pics or reviews, we'll post them on our website or myspace.

We now have a page up at Bandcamp, where you can download your
desirered quality of the 'A Blood Promise' CD part. It's taken me all
afternoon to work out how the hell to set things up properly, so it's
just a basic site at the moment. But you can purchase the entire CD
part as a download for as little as £1.50, or your desirered amount
above this if you so wish. Obviously, you don't get any of the DVD part
and Ashley Dean's amazing videos, or the millions of extras. But it's
the only thing we could do to stop iTunes getting 99.9% of ours and
Gizeh/Denovali money.

Bandcamp page is http://hernameiscalla.bandcamp.com/

Speaking of Gizeh/Denovali. The Heritage is now virtually sold out from
our end,  there's a clutch of copies left; but plans are underway to
rerelease our first record to the rest of the world on CD and our
favourite, V.I.N.Y.L. Happy times. More on this when we have some solid
dates.

Check our myspace to see how our August tour is shaping up. There may
be some album updates on there as we are documenting it's progress as
much as possible. A large dent has been made. Are we on twitter? Yes,
but I was immediately sick after signing up and have never logged into
it.

Since 15th April is an underrated we should mark its occasion by going HERE  and downloading the free Gizeh records sampler, featuring pretty much all of our label mates there.

If you are a person
that likes to READ, may I humbly please suggest 'The History of the
World in Ten 1/2 Chapters' by Julian Barnes. A great read on love,
history and faith in a semi fictional/non-fictional way. May favourite
chapter is the one regarding the man who lived after being swallowed by
a whale. It's documented HERE and HERE . Does this mean that the story of Jonah and the Whale could be true?!! It would be nice wouldn't it.

Our next show is at the White Noise Festival in Leicester on Friday 29th May. Our last before our August tour

Good evening to you all!

First off, we are very happy to announce that we have joined the roster of the fantastic German label, Denovali Records,
home to such great bands as Jeniferever, Audrey, The Samuel Jackson
Five, Scraps of Tape, Pirate Ship Quintet and many more! It's an honour
to work with such a respected label and we look forward to the future
more than ever. Denovali will re-release our first record, 'The Heritage' on vinyl later this year around which time we should tour continental Europe to support its release.

Of course, our UK family Gizeh records will continue to be our UK home
and you should check out their very cool up and coming releases. Most
of which Tom Calla has worked on in some way.

To celebrate this great news we are releasing a very special DVD package entitled, 'A Blood Promise'.

The DVD is compiled by our good friend Ashley Dean (ex-iLiKETRAiNS) who
has created a fantastic video for New England using shadow puppets with
a particularly dark tale to accompany it. In addition, you will find
another video by Ash for 'With Eyes So Full of Sparks of Love', as well
as live performances from our show last year at the Holy Trinity
Chapel, tour documentaries and other bits and pieces.

As if all this wasn't enough, the package also comes with a CD
containing a live track from the aforementioned show and two brand new
songs.

'A Blood Promise' is limited to just 300 copies and is handpackaged and
numbered and will be released on the 9th March, however you special
people can preorder it now from our website and preorders will be posted out the week before. We think you'll like it!

We will also be playing a few shows with Jenifever in April so look out for those.

Take care!

We've done this the wrong way around,
and the result is a fruit that's rotten from the pith to the skin.
If I'm guided, then it's not by stars or by love or by choice, but by fate.
I am born with a cable wrapped around my waist.
The world turns and winds the cable in, pulling me to a point of origin yet further forward in time.
