Current mood:  blah
well well well it's all good to me to receive MP3 promos instead of vinyls or cd but keep in mind that you wouldn't send a cdr without nothing written on it, would you ?
(oh yes you did it a couple of times...;-))
PLEASE at least name your files correctly because if you don't it is the perfect way to get it lost on the dj hard drive and erased because i don't know what the hell it is... so please no more HJK01.mp3 or Allangoeswild.mp3... because if it's good i will be so f*ck**g disapointed not to be able to identify your track or your label.
and more : please do it if you're a promo service !!! this is your business, make an effort !!

Current mood:  annoyed
i'm wondering why germany is (almost) the last country where people still buy and play vinyls when at the same time it is the country where ableton live has been created ?

i'm wondering why germany has a bigger concentration of vinyls distributors than any other countries and why none of those have closed yet, compared to USA, Uk or France where it has been a slayer ?

might have something to do with the fact that people still play and buy vinyls there... ;-)

finally i'm wondering why i haven't play in germany for 3 years now when i'm selling half of my records there.

germany is a big mystery for me now

ich spräche kein deutsch....

David designed a much hyped remix for Alex Flatner feat.Deafny Moon to be released on Circle Music, his mix is endlessly funky and techy and simply works the dancefloor with his own special crystal clear house drama magic ! Totally modern in his production, you can notice the man is not loosing it yet. David also did a remix for Nic Fanciulli's Renaissance hit "Lucky Heather" to be released pretty soon.

Talking about remixes he also completed remixes for Alex Parsons & CD on Briquerouge, Dj Hell on Kickin Music, Kink on RZ Muzik, and a fantastic remix for Alexkid & Chloé's underground hit "Afterblaster". Teaming up for this remix with Mazi, the pair also produced a new release due on Fresh Meat in a couple of month and a new track called "Callisto" for Mazi's second Audio Soul Project album, follow up to their classic "Everything is Allright" produced back in 2001.

David has also 3 new 12" releases lined up, one called "Ballistic Problem ep" to be released on infamous german label Harthouse (former home of Sven Väth & Hardfloor) of in March 2007; the second one is none other than the remixes of hysterical "Chicago, Wake Up Call" by Marc Romboy & Phonogenic on Gourmet Recordings, and third but not least, a re-release of Duriez's 1996 classic "The Warm Up", remastered and re-cut along 3 other lost&found tracks (one of them never released before)

Besides production, David Duriez is still extensively touring the world and handling residencies in Paris (Red Light, a monthly Briquerouge night) and London (Turnmills, taking over the bar while Bob Sinclar is stuffing the main room)

David also launched his own audio podcast last month :

Ok let's try to write this news without the word "busy" in it. It's going to be hard because there's a lot of things going on
First let's say that mr.Duriez has relaunched the remix factory with not less than 5 remixes done lately for the like of Dj Hell on Kickin' records, Alex Flatner on Circle Music, but also Nic Fanciulli, Alex Parsons and Kink for RZ Muzik.
He also got his latest release co-produced with Mazi, "Chicago, a Wake Up Call" making waves all around the planet and getting licensing requests as well as amazing props by the djs and tastemakers.
Having residencies in Paris at Red Light and London at Turnmills (his Madrid's residency ended when the promoters lost the club 3 months ago), David Duriez is also extensively touring the world as a dj with events scheduled in London, Chicago, Toronto, Hong Kong, Shangai, Dubai, Rome, etc.. in the next coming weeks. I did not use the word "busy" yet ? Ok so let's continue... David Duriez is also still running like a mob boss his label Brique Rouge with upcoming releases & remixes by Mike Monday, Josh Wink, Tim Paris, Zoo Brazil, Tommy Four Seven, Dj Fex, Mark O'Sullivan, Tom Pooks, Random Factor and many many more while in the meantime he's participating in the launch of a french digital download platform dedicated to clubbing called www.clubload.fr; he has always be in the forefront of the digital download revolution.
Now in the studio with Mazi in Chicago, David Duriez is due to produce a follow up to "Chicago, a Wake Up Call" and probably some other tracks that you'll soon got in your ears. (RC)

this is not written by me, i've found it on ResidentAdvisor about the Dj Mag Top 100 and found it interresting. for comparaison i reach 115,000 on google hits ;-)
use brackets "" if you try to hit someone
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DJ Mag and their ilk make out like this is a popularity contest, but it's not even that. Let's check some Google counts as an indicator of popularity.

Hits for
4 Christopher Lawrence 340,000
23 Flash Brothers 113,000
32 Sander Van Doorn 271,000
34 Gareth Emery 119,000
52 Ricky Stone 52,400 (this is some guy who lives in China)
56 Dion Mavath 933 (an obvious scammer, should have been banned)
64 Matt Hardwick 94,000

Okay, now let's look at the google hit counts of DJs who weren't "popular" enough to make the poll:

Carl Craig - 608,000
Michael Mayer - 621,000
Ricardo Villalobos - 541,000
Miss Kittin - 1,160,000
David Morales - 619,000
Roman Flugel - 680,000
Adam Beyer - 559,000

So it's not even the popularity contest it pretend to be. Conspiracy theorists will say it's either rigged by DJ Mag or scammed by voters. It seems more likely to me that the readers of DJ Mag who pay attention to this poll fall into a particular demographic that, when it comes down to it, is a niche part of dance music.

The verdict: these people are not even most popular DJs in the world, let alone "the best."

here you go, 2 new unreleased tracks for your ears, more on the techno side of the job but let me know what you think. also a brand new remix i've finished for Kickin Music in UK, it's a remix for an old Dj Hell track called "Sprung aus den Wolken" and i've been hitting hard the filter ;-) .

David Duriez, Classics From The Vault Volume1
Duriez

Duriezs carreer as a musician started in the early 90s. His first professional release in the House music field was in 1994 on a USA Imports imprint Peek-A-Boo Since then Duriez never stopped to produce. So much that it was impossible to find a home for all the tracks he has done. Duriez was very active behind the gears in the nineties and his appetite for electronic tunes lead him to produce hundreds of tracks in many genres. The man did produce House & Techno but also Drum&Bass (He has produced an album in 1998 unreleased for now that we will release as download only on our new imprint Aperto Check the web soon, the label will also release his unreleased album from 2002 as Le Dav) or Downtempo.

This is the first volume of a limited edition serie of 12 featuring some of his unreleased tracks or lost gems for the first time on vinyl.

Mazi & Duriez
Chicago, A Wake Up Call
Brique Rouge
BR058
click here to go to the tracks preview

No need to introduce Mazi & David Duriez one more time, even those new in the House Music business should have heard of them, the real Chicago Paris connection. They have developed their own labels at the same time, Gourmet & Brique Rouge, they built their carreers at the same time but this is only the second time, and surely not the last, that they go together in the studio. First time they produced the seminal Everything is Allright, one of the highlights from the Audio Soul Projects album Community.
This time they produced one of their futur classic, while David Duriez was in Chicago on the way to his Detroit Electronic Music Festival gig. Produced in just one afternoon, the track is already acclaimed and hammered by (drop as much names as you like, they all play it) :
Josh Wink plays it everywhere. Mr.C has also been reported jumping in the booth to ask David what this track was.
The Buzz is on. Wake UP !
