Hi Everybody!

We're on TV tonight - Thursday 6th March.
Hurray!

If you live in N.Ireland and you're staying in, tune in:
10pm: BBC2 NI - Imeall Geal.

If you live anywhere else or you're going out tonight watch online for a week afterwards: BBC iPlayer

It's the Irish language magazine programme that's been running for the last 6 weeks or so - they kept the best for last cos the series ends tonight. It's has subtitles for those who only know 'Sláinte!' or 'agus'. We'll be rocking the single 'I am Cursed' LIVE in the studio. Look out too for breakdance champs Bad Taste Cru on the show making us look even less hip-hop than we ever were.

BBC blurb:

Imeall Geal. 10pm, BBC2 NI
This week's programme features music from Belfast based 'Olympic Lifts' who have a unique mix of Indie rock and Hip Hop, currently making waves in the UK and as far away as Japan. UK/Ireland break dancing champions 'Bad Taste Cru' will also be performing. [S]

Just back from the Scottish appendix of our big O.L.-hit-the-fuckin-road-in-yellow winter tour. It was awesome, if a little cursed as usual. Still, no casualties.
Big thanks to everyone that helped us make it happen. Underling (the awesome), Bev and all the gang in Portmahomack, all the venues and great sound persons and of course Tim for being a superstar as usual.

Went into the BBC last night to record a session for the Rory McConnell show. Thanks to George and the 2 Daveys for making it go smoothly. Naturally, when we got round to doing 'I Am Cursed', everything started to go tits up, but with their help we pulled through. We need to write a song called 'Everything is So Class and Easy'. Before we got to the new single we recorded 'Strobe' and 'Find Someone to Blame' - the current 'live favourites'. Listen out for it's broadcast in the next few weeks.

Just before we went on tour we started our big ART TERRORISM project. We're still waiting for the vinyl copies of the single to turn up but we've ordered them without sleeves so we can make our own. We're taking sleeves from other singles (mostly shit indie things from our own collections) and handcrafting them into sexy new O.L.>>ART! I'll get some pictures of us in our overalls up here soon. You can Pre-order your unique copy of this masterpiece from the Royston Vasey page of bruisedfruitpromotions.com Be quick though because they are in very limited supply and we're getting lots of bulk orders in from round the globe. If, for some reason you're not interested in our beautiful, cottage industry style handiwork then you can just download the song from iTunes.

Now what's next? Oh yes our Valentine's Night, Belfast single launch (if it turns up on time) live extravaganza at the Spring and Airbrake. Fresh from our touring we should be tight as a bastard and ready to rock. Take your beau out for some fancy romantic nosh and some wine then stumble round to finish off the evening with some O.L. pop partay. The mighty fine Faux DJs will be joining us to keep the vibe sweet.

See you there....Boma O.L.

Thanks to the folks @ Room Thirteen for this one

Olympic Lifts - I Am Cursed

Rated 7/13

Okay now I'm confused. A really indie (as in more indie than the boy in Topshop jeans and striped eyebrows) label like this one finds a hip hop funk outfit and makes them the indie boy I described above. Okay I am stereotyping to the max, but for some reason still unknown to you and I, when the song ends, I turn it back on again?

It's almost a case of that song you avoided when you were 15 because you couldn't help but sing to it whilst everybody else mocked the terrible melody and cheesy attire. Olympic Lifts opens up with a laughing monkey? "I am cursed" released the 19th January is taken from the bands third album, a release under Bruised Fruit and tells the tale of being born without a talent. It's a pretty depressing topic if you ask me, yet this poptastic tune is surprisingly uplifting- containing incredicle commercial potential and suited to both the dancefloor and the bedroom.

Quirky lyrics and reality songwriting skills see this band matched to the likes of The Wombats, Monkeys and the Kaisers- not hip hop artists in any right, but its good music. Maybe this different direction will see the Olympic lifts really take gold.

We're taking over the airwaves this Sunday evening.

You'll need to do some radio dial juggling cos we might even be doing two interviews simultaneously.
What a world we live in!

U105 FM between 6 and 8pm for Homemade Jam with Kresanna Aigner.
Then Cool FM between 7 and 9 pm for The Z with Olga.
For full on, clashing, in true 'I Am Cursed' style, we're guessing 2nd hour of U105 1st hour of Cool.
So good luck catching both!

Single is officially released next weekend, we're playing a free all ages show in Castle Court on Friday 18th Jan to celebrate :)  Music from 7pm, drinking in the Garrick afterwards from 9pm for anyone old enough to get served.

You can pre-order the single on 7" vinyl NOW from Rough Trade and Bruised Fruit's online stores, or download it from iTunes.

word.
