Hey amigos
I am in a colonial style hotel in Geneseo New York. I had the day off today and enjoyed it. We drove all day yesterday and it was one of the most beautiful drives I have ever done in my life, and I have done alot of driving. For miles we were on a two lane highway that we twisted down from virginia to new york, with an incredible river to our right. If the nature wasn't amazing enough, we took a wrong turn and ended up at a yard sale on the side of the road, I got a sweatshirt with the tazmanian devil and wile e coyote in "hip hop" gear holding a boombox and looking gangstar and it says IT"S ALL GOOD and on the back a cityscape and the words IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Amazing, then just down the road a bit we went to a trading post and I found a purple tiedyed shirt that had wolves printed on it, also Incredible. So, breathtaking nature and manufactured goods. It was really nice to have a day off today as well. I stayed up late last night catching up with mundain shit and letting the fact that this tour is almost over sink in and that next week I will have to get back to work. I have such a complicated relationship to touring. I never want to go, because I like my routines when i am home, and I know I am going to miss everybody and for the first week or so of tour I am homesick and anxious, then I get in the grove and want to live on the road. The freedom is incredible. You are only responsible for that day. there is nothing in your future except open road and a show at the end of the night. It is reliable and exciting and the best way to see the world. Good thing I am into it right now, because once my album comes out, I am going to be living on the road. I'm about to crash out for the night, watching the only thing that ever seems to be on, John and Kate plus 8. those kids are ridiculously cute. XoKatas
Oh PS We got so crazy the other day from sleep deprevation not enough food and way too much caffine and decided to stay up till four in the morning and made an insane video to a nicky click song. To wind down from it we decided to watch a bit of tv at 4:30 in the morning. We ended up watching a show called Human Prey, where they reinacted a 12 year old boy being mauled to near death when a wolf chomped down on his head a gardener being attacked by a rabid coyote and a cougar attaking a moutain biker and killing another person. Good Night1 I will never go camping again.

People of the world
I am in a dive bar called Empire in Richmond Virginia. I'm trying to catch up with work and my life, but am so easily distracted. I have had way too much caffine today, two cups of coffee, a rockstar, and three cokes. Out of my mind and body. Tour has been fun. I had a great show in D.C. got to spend a night off, hanging out, eating good food and lounging. We are playing in an adorable consignment store tonight, called Rumors. I tried shopping, but to no avail, my attention span is even too short for that right now. When I am this caffinated, I just want more, caffine, but really anything, I want more. I want to consume, food, snacks, coffee, cigarettes (I don't even really smoke) clothes, sneakers etc. I want to make music, not play it. I want to jump on a bed. I want to make out, run around, scream, go to a punk show, work out, jumping jacks, eat ice cream, make out, you know what I mean, just GO. I'm sure just as my show is about to start I will be crashing from it. I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Tomorrow we head even further south, really looking forward to the show at Duke. My new record label, 307 knox records, set that up and we are gonna hang and listen to the masters for my next album. That shit is almost done. It's gonna be good. AHHHHH!!!!! more later xoxokatas

Hey duders
I have been on the road for about a week now and boy can grandpas body feel it. I flew out from SF to ATL with a layover in Charlotte. I managed to fly right into a snowstorm and get delayed for two days. Of course my luggage was lost and I wondered the Charlotte airport for 48 hours. I managed to throw my back out, which was uncomfortable for the first couple of days and once that subsided I got mild food poisoning, which I am just getting over. Hopefully this will not be the type of trip that I get a new ailment every city I stop in. the shows have been cool. Playing colleges is always a little weird for me because they tend to like the spoken word a bit more than hip hop, so I end up doing a bunch of my stuff accapella. At the show the other night at Ohio state there were about 100 sorority girls, which was awesome and bizarre (I don't tend to have a huge "greek" following). We have had a couple of really long drives, like 10 hours. I forget that sometimes with a DIY creative career you end up doing a lot of manual labor. We tend to have to do a little of everything. In addition to making the music writing and performing, we also work the sound board, do a little webdesign, make flyers, book shows, promote, drive, roadie and sell merch. I think sometimes my favorite part of touring are the endless drives. I like the way I end up feeling after the first 4 hours have passed by, a mixture of lonesome and content, delirous and brilliant, like being on speed or ridilin. I also feel like there is endless possiblity and potential for life experience. I feel all at once deeply connected to everything and incredible isolated. i love that feeling. I always end up planning what I am going to do when I get home. This last drive I decided I need to start a live band, because I want to sing! Who wants to join my band? I'm serious. email me. more later. xoxokatas
