Hey folks,

First of all, click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nUsSiJi7uo

Made possible by Cut the Papaya Productions, London... Also, big thanks to Stasa, Haydn, Simone, Sacha, James, Supi and friends with an extra special sprinkling of gratitude to Gaverick de Vis.

Thought I'd touch base. Gearing up for a few gigs in London next week. Looking forward to it and to checking out some gigs in the experimental music scene that seems to survive in London's underbelly, despite a few setbacks of late...

Just had a lovely gig in Rome at a tiny music bookstore, Daseia (if you're ever in town, you should visit it) and got a new recording with the abstract blues trio in the pipeline.

After the Chicago Session with Albini at Electrical Audio in late 2007, I have my new solo album mastered (in London by Mandy Parnell) and ready to release... know any labels that might be interested in these times???

Anyhoo, come to one of the gigs in London if you're about. Hugs and kisses to all who are somewhere much too green and leafy to make it,

Big love,

Leila

I went to a cafe to talk
to my computer

I went to my sofa to go
to the movies

I remembered how beautiful
a trickle of water from a puddle
on hot tarseal is

I saw a river of cars move
the way a school of fish does

I wondered about suffering and
for a few seconds I couldn't see it
everywhere I looked

Golden Smile [friend x friend = millionaire]

Can we get a price check on love please?

Can we get a price check on money please?

Can we get a price check on love please?

Can we get a price check on money please?

Did you ever see the smile of the man who kept his money?

It was painted on!

Did you ever see the smile of the man who kept his money?

It was painted on!

The truly rich ONE IS the ONE who gives

And NEVER FEARS there'll be NOTHING there

We know that FRIEND TIMES FRIEND EQUALS MILLIONAIRE

Current mood:  awake
It's a lovely day in London and i have nothing to complain about.

My website has been down the last week or so, because it has changed to leilaadu.com. I had been avoiding becoming a .com for quite some time but it became apparent that nobody knew what .co.nz was. To any of my faithful New Zealand blog readers I am truly sorry if you feel betrayed by the switch.

Here's a short poem about being on the London Underground and about existence in general.

Subtyranny

I feel sick down here, surrounded by all these bodies
Am I in some psychological warfare experiment?

There is only one madman down here
He thinks it's great.
He's in his element
This place is designed just for him

PS In case you think I'm a rather dark lady, the tube isn't always bad and sometimes it sounds really cool.

On The Ticket this week, I'm being interviewed by presenter, Mark Coles. I'll also be playing two tracks live on the grand piano, Train and Cherry Pie , from my latest album, Cherry Pie.

It'll be a 10 minute slot of an hour show which is being broadcast at:
18.05 (GMT) Saturday 28 OCT 06 and 09.05 Sunday (GMT) 29 OCT 06.
(i.e. UK - 7.05pm Sat 28 OCT and 9.05 am Sun 29 OCT;
NZ - 7.05 am Sat 28 OCT and 10.05 pm Sat 28 OCT 06.)

Wherever you are, there's a few ways you can listen to the show:
- A live stream on the web: www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/schedules/internet/wsradio_sat.shtml
- As a web archive, anytime after the show is aired on Saturday.
- On the radio. If you've not done this before, you can do a web search for the broadcasting frequency in your country.

"In May 2006 the BBC reported that the World Service's average weekly audience had reached 163 million people, beating the previous record of 153 million listeners set in 2001."

Also, coming up: Cherry Pie is soon to be available on I Tunes and the now sold out debut album, Dig A Hole, should be soon to follow.

Gathering up the inspirational sights, sounds and smells of Morocco at present. Everyone here seems to have good musical taste. Gnenoa, gypsy, Arabic music waft from the stores. Feeling like a bit of a rich tourist after feeling like a poor bum in London. That's the way of the world I guess. I'm afraid I don't have one of them new fangled digital cameras to show you the sights but it's very beautiful. Every wall looks like a Tapias painting.

Love to you all out there,

Leila

I've decided to enter my blog under the catergory of pets and animals to gain a wider readership. I feel justified in doing so. I'm a pretty fluffy-headed lady, as one can tell from my portrait.

Been checkin' out great sounds from the London Improv scene - inluding the great Evan Parker and an amazing pianist - Veryan Weston. People often ask me what I've been listening to lately. I have to say that the majority of the music I listen to is live gigs, mostly improvised.

My 12 bar club gig was a nice crowd. Excited to be playing Brighton this Saturday, overlooking the sea with two lovely ladies, fellow songstresses - Sharon Lewis and Katy Carr.

I'm off to soak in the sights and sounds of Morocco next week. Back in London, I'll be playing on the BBC World Service's "the Ticket" around 20 Oct but will let you know closer to the time.

Big love you,

Leila

Gidday,

Hey, big ups to my subscribers, just realised that you were out there.

I'm feelin' a little jaded the day after my first gig in London for 5 years. It's the hottest day ever recorded here, so that may have something to do with it. I think it's 37 degrees celsius outside. Just sitting inside an air conditioned office, listening to a Messaien piece for two pianos.

The gig? It was great. There was a really lovely crowd and a great audience response. I'm told it was a really moving show, which is nice. I was joined by Brazilian bass clarinetist, Yedo Gibson. Another band that played that night that you should check out is www.myspace.com/gemmarayritual. A woman after my own heart!

Thanks for joining up. I'll try to think up more stuff to keep you entertained and let you know any cool stuff I come accross.

Gidday,

In London. Just had a lovely gig in Paris a couple of weeks ago, thanks to saxophonist extraodinaire, Lucien Johnson.

London is full of football fever. Checked out some great improv by Rocketnumber 9 last night at the Betsey Trotwood (for non Londonites, pub names here are weird.)

Keep you posted,
