We're exceedingly happy and proud to announce our new signatures,
Oy and
Sutekh.
Oy
First, the incomparable, incredible
Oy, also known as Joy
Frempong, is the very first female to join the Creaked roster. She is
currently performing as vocalist on divers acts of the likes of Stade
vs Infinite Livez, Lauschangriff, Filewile, Phall Fatale to name just a
few…
On her own,
Oy draws upon jazz, electronica and improvisation,
to create a matchless chemistry made up of kiddy-toy sounds, scraps of
hip-hop, and various paeans of scat. Blending her voice with the
mechanical utterances from samplers and other sound machines, she is
inventing new and original ways of using the vocal chords.
Thoroughly convinced by her vocal skills, Creaked gave her a free pass
to create an album of her own. Joy completed a long-simmering project
based on childhood memories, which had started out as entirely vocal
outline and grew into the debut of the artist
Oy.
Her upcoming debut full-length is due early next year!

Sutekh
Well, one could definitely say that if Creaked loves the Bay-area, the feeling is mutual! After Mochipet, Bloodysnowman, Dave Aju and K.Flay, it's now
Sutekh who expands the roster!!
Sutekh, also known as Seth Horvitz, is a human, electronic musician,
composer, designer, electronic musician, DJ, piano programmer, based in
the San Francisco Bay Area since 1991. Under the name
Sutekh, he has
released music on dozens of record labels, including Mille Plateaux
(Germany), Soul Jazz (UK), The Leaf Label (UK), Orthlorng Musork (USA),
and his own Context Free Media. While identified most often as a techno
artist, Sutekh is well known for his innovative and irreverent
approach, incorporating a range of influences from pigeon funk, dub,
and free jazz to experimental noise, musique concrète, and classical
minimalism.
Sutekh’s work stands out for its distinct rhythmic vocabulary, the
richness of its texture, and its capacious integration of a broad range
of genres and historical moments. His tracks are full of surprises,
frequently transitioning between the repetitive and chaotic, abrasive
and tranquil, serious and absurd, with an expansive sonic palette
consisting of synthesized sound, field recordings, acoustic
instruments, and samples that scavenge the history of recorded music. His new album
On Bach is scheduled for the beginning of next year on Creaked.
