when i started the myspace blog it was due to a wordpress hack that tanked a blog I'd had up for a year. i hate the blogging feature here. it tanks you after a few entries, and i'm more interested in maintaining a log of my entries that are accessable. you know, a real blog. so, the other founder of the chicago artists' collective (charcoll) - chris johnson and i launched a typepad blog linked off of charcoll.com. it's called collectipoda. if you'd like to view our blog visit COLLECTIPODA - pilsen basedblog on fine arts, tech, politico and the weird.

Timesonline covers the state of civilization in its cradle with the horrifying statement, "West Baghdad is no stranger to bombings and killings, but in the past few days all restraint has vanished in an orgy of ethnic cleansing." By James Hider - LINK TO ARTICLE

This well written piece provides an extremely intimate Arab perspective on the commencement of violence between Israel and Lebanon, while grimly portending the plausible impact this new warfront will have on the region now commonly referred to as a powderkeg. "This is Going to be a Big War" by Dahr Jamail was posted recently by commondreams.org, a progressive news organization touted by the likes of Ralph Nader and Bill Moyers. LINK TO ARTICLE

Bradblog, com has been trailing the demise/arguable death of democratic practice in the election tallies for the last few years. Today's post includes a link to Court TV's Catherine Crier's recent clip exposing the continuing rape of justice. Just as former senator (R) Duke Cunningham is sentenced to 100 months in jail in a filthy scandal that brought down Porter Goss at the CIA among others, his seat is won by yet another republican who is now under scrutiny for, guess what, rigging the election.

Lots of us elsewhere on the political sphere want it, but here it comes again from the right: an article in the St. Louis Dispatch entitled "For America to succeed, Rumsfeld must go." If it's not enough that author Maj. Gen. John Batiste commanded the Army's First Infantry Division in both Iraq and Kosovo, it sure helps that he's been inside the New American Century team having served as the senior military assistant to then Deputy Secretary of Defense, Paul Wolfowitz. And here he is, calling for Donald to step aside. LINK TO ARTICLE

Vanity Fair presents a lacerating profile of California Caligula-like Randall "Duke" Cunningham, the men he loved and whored about with, and his recent fireball demise. A lovely fact sheet of dumb-assery in political kickbacks set primarily in the Pentagon. Starring: Katherine Harris, Sen. Jerry Lewis and a couple of Old Glory's unknown rising stars....article by Judy Bachrach LINK:::

I found this off a great RSS feed from oldamericancentury.org Yesterday, the New Yorker released this article by Jane Mayer detailing the the profound influence of Cheney's right hand man in the sculpting of executive power with reference to the highly criticized Cuban detainee camp. "Most Americans, even those who follow politics closely, have probably never heard of Addington. But current and former Administration officials say that he has played a central role in the shaping of the Administration's legal strategy for the war on terror. Known as the NEW PARADIGM, this strategy rests on a reading of the constitution that few legal scholars share - namely, that the the president, as Commander-in-Chief, has the authority to disregard all previously known legal boundaries, if national security demands it. Under this framework, statues prohibiting torture, secret detention, and warrentless surveillance have been set aside." Link to article

When Chris told me about a theory (some call it Tattooism, after Fantasy Island, "zee plane, zee plane") that the Pentagon was never struck by a plane, I laughed. I thought that was funny, that there's plenty of homicidal behavior by the Adminstration to address without becoming a 8th level cleric with obfuscate pondering the Bohemian Club's rituals being tied to satan and the Bush clan. I still feel a little of the sick I was struck with after watching this video. Although I'd have to consult with a physicist before I finally decide that the planes didn't bring down the twin towers, which the video is also suggesting, I no longer believe an airplane hit the pentagon. That was enough to scare the living shit out of me. LINK TO LOOSE CHANGE VIDEO

The Vestibule from Dantes' Inferno This is the gateway to the levels of hell that houses the opportunists that neither get into heaven nor gain entry to hell. They are doomed to chase flags with wasps tormenting them, a punishment for not having taken sides in the war of good verses evil. On the gate of this staging area of the inferno a sign with the famous admonition: "Abandon all Hope, Ye who Enter Here," greets the opportunists.
