HEAD & ARM
ORIGINAL HAMSTER is Vicente Sanfuentes, from Chile. He's a big player in the Chilean musical scene, Djing at parties and producing beats and bands for whoever wanted to put his musical career at risk. Practically there's no musical style he hasn't messed with: hip-hop/funk/rock/pop/techno/folk, even Reggaeton with his longtime partner Atom--, as the wild project 'Surtek Collective'. His live shows are a faithful representation of his infidelity to a gender. You can expect all the above, and probably, all at the same time. He is also a member of the group 'Los Mono' currently causing a storm in the US, released by Sonic360, and as Original Hamster, he has released "Aint Nothing but a G4 Thang EP" on Tigerbeat.

JOHN CRAMPTON + GUESTS
One of the UK's finest exponents of one-man-band delta resonator blues. He stomps, howls and gnaws his way through his old time Mississippi swamp blues repertoire:
"...stomping and unstoppable like a runaway train. You can practically fry eggs on the man as he radiates energy into the room. His gravel-gargling voice is a perfect compliment to his 1930's National steel guitar, harmonica and footboard. The sound he produces has astonishing depth." Blues In Britain.

MARZIPAN SHEEP
The excellent Marzipan Sheep returns with the brilliant MORNING BECOMES ELECTRA who are a four piece consisting of one vocal, two guitars, bass and drums. Mourning Becomes Electra blissfully stray from the pack with spaced out guitars which twinkle and tumble dreamily over dub bass grooves to form epic songs that 1991 era Verve would be proud of. Heartbroken and fragile one moment, intense and soaring towards the heavens the next. As the Coventry four piece add 'You don't need The Enemy reminding you how awful life is, you need Mourning Becomes Electra to take you away.' Also performing are SIXNATIONSTATE and If you haven't seen this band yet, then we urge you to do so. Having just finished touring there debut album around the UK, you cant help notice that there onto something special here, with there mix of indie/punk and ska sounds all blended together. An impressive line up of three guitars and strong vocals from lead singer Gerry. Its not hard to see why there selling out there London shows!! Also THE GLAD RAGS who hail from Southampton. 2006 saw beginnings.... a crooked path led hither dither as the search for kin to fill holes saw a few false starts and helping hands come and go... thankfully a few more piped up and the table was eventually set for six..... manifesto; to rouse hearts and ears with thoughtful, melodic songs, nodding to The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths and The Kinks... In their short time The Glad Rags have already supported Jamie T and The Maccabees to name but a few plus tonight also support comes from THE ALPS who consist of four men whose tunes are as finely chiselled as their striking good looks. Similar to less fussy post-punkers, The Police, The Smiths and Elvis Costello, the Greenwich quartet don't muck about when it comes to knocking together the kind of thorny three-minute gems that look set to barge their way into mainstream consciousness.
All of this and its free.

JOE WILKES. Joe Wilkes is a young folk guitarist who is starting to generate a well-deserved buzz. What becomes immediately clear is that Wilkes is a superb guitarist; His intricate finger picking style, incorporates percussive bass and lead, calls to mind John Martyn. As a performer, Joe is equally as engaging, although in a much more self-deprecating manner. He took us on a guided tour of Spotlight, folk music that is English by definition, and although very contemporary you can draw a line from Wilkes through Nick Drake to Bert Jansch with many points in between. - AMERICANA UK www.myspace.com/joewilkes

MORVISCOUS are an instrumental five piece based in London and Paris whose compositions plunder the various genres of the 20th century with a sensibility that belongs to the idiosyncratic British tradition of popular experimental music that includes the likes of Henry Cow, This Heat, King Crimson and Soft Machine. They make a kind of music that's rare in the UK right now, very akin to the American avant post rockers ala Battles For Carnation but with a very British vibe like a modern take on Soft Machine / Chris Mc Gregors Brotherhood of Breath, their debut 'Free Pop' is available now through Forte Music.

BABAR LUCK + SPECIAL GUESTS + DJ Parkbench
Babar Luck is a legendary figure on the UK ska/punk scene and his solo acoustic shows are truly special. An intriguing fusion of acoustic reggae sensibilities and inner-city angst come together in an often hilarious, impassioned, loving, and original style. There is no way of describing Babar Luck except to say that he is one of the most entertaining and deep acoustic acts in London. Imagine Joe strummer crossed with Bob Marley and Roots Manuva; or Nina Simone sweetened with Curtis Mayfield and yet frantic like Chuck D on "It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back.". A true "londonstaanee with a worldstate of mind". British / Asian Gansta Folk? Yes indeed.

WAH WAH 45'S
The well respected label of all that's good in funk, jazz and everything soulful (blue-eyed or otherwise!) take their 21st Century road show to The Vibe Bar in East London's buzzing Brick Lane for another very special 'Sunday Joint' session.
Label bosses, international DJs and jazz playboys, Dom Servini & Simon Goss, host an evening of the finest soulful grooves, from Dilla to Fela via Steely Dan, Ramsey Lewis, and of course plenty of exclusive and classic cuts from their Wah Wah 45s imprint.
Live music comes courtesy of Wah Wah favourites, Scrimshire, returning to The Vibe Bar after their triumphant debut back in February, and in anticipation of their new release on Wah Wah 45s, 'The Low Road', and their LP due in early 2008.
The Scrimshire Octet are led by multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Adam Scrimshire. It's been a long journey for this young man, ever since his nan introduced him to an Errol Garner record when he was 14. Scrimshire's sound is steeped in jazz, soul and funk, but with a nod to contemporary sounds, and with strong popular song writing sensibilities. This man knows how to write a tune!!
The live Scrimshire experience features the man himself on keys, guitar, percussion and backing vocals, Benny Thackray on guitar and backing vocals, Paul Hodson on bass and backing vocals, Andy Thurman and Jake Telford
(OK_Ma) on the saxamaphone, plus vocals from the rather excellent Rob Hynd, Claire Laurent and Norwegian songstress Inga-Lill Aker.

The Protagonist! 'Not bespoke, not best fitting.'

MARZIPAN SHEEP
A one off night with FIVE bands from across the UK making a collective punch in the side of the scene here in the Big Smoke…
Tonight's headline grunters and growlers come in the guise of THE BIKINIS who are not too cool and they don't think they are better than The Beatles. These are the kids who wake up everyday humming sonic's tunes; the ones queing at 8am to get this weeks' 7" editions, the first on the dance floor and the last to fuck off home. Don't be scared, get the hell involved.
Also we have RATTY RAT RAT. In the end its Ratty Rat Rat's indisputibly catchy tunes and slur-friendly charisma that win over audiences. "We just want to get up and play music that we're completely confident about."
THE LOST CITY RAMBLERS are from Cheshire. LCR recorded there first album last summer with Ding Archer (The Fall, PJ Harvey, Frank Black) and one reviewer said LCR couldn't be pigeon holed however I think Jodie (lead singer) put it better when she said "LCR are addictive, junk fuelled, the Gemini of Rock n Roll bands; half of it's a make believe show, the other half the true face of a young man blues."
The support tonight comes from THE AMBERBLACKS from Colchester. The Amberblacks are more crisp than a winter's morn when Jack Frost has been in town. Sloppy but smooth, chaotic but controlled, loud but melodic.
And to top this off we have the brilliant KURT COODER. Kurt Cooder is one man. He has sailed many seas, travelled many roads and worked with/supported many legends, and vows to continue treading the stages of the world with keen feet and a story to tell. Kurt Cooder's first novel, 'THE POLITICS OF WALKING' is due to be completed at the end of summer 07. As a solo artist he has so far supported Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke from 'THE SMITHS' and punk legend Ed Tudor Pole. As a member of previous bands he has supported Shaun Ryder, The Farm and Biffy Clyro.
Admission is free so get your rear here… no excuses!

Sunday 29th July
ANTI SLAVERY DAY with FREEDOM BEER
As part of this year's commemoration of 200 years since the abolition of the slave trade, Freedom Beer and the Vibe Bar will be hosting a free day of music, photography and moving image.
This special day will be held in conjunction with Anti-Slavery International and Freedom's very own Steven Knight (writer of recent film, 'Amazing Grace', based on the life of anti-slavery pioneer, William Wilberforce), featuring a musical lineup drenched in African song and the 2 Tone movement.
It's with much pleasure we proudly announce an exclusive performance by ex Fela Kuti keyboard player DELE SOSIMI and his 6 piece band, as he plays some of the deepest and most compelling grooves in contemporary Afrobeat. With complex yet melodic horn arrangements and a tight rhythm section that form the backdrop for Sosimi's distinctive keyboards and vocals this is an unmissable treat which will be an irresistible sound and an unforgettable experience, an absolute must-see...
We are also delighted to confirm that DJing on the day will be the legendary
JERRY DAMMERS - instigator of the 2 Tone movement and record label, the man who wrote Free Nelson Mandela, co-coordinator of the Wembley concert of the same name and chief songwriter of The Specials. After the recent date at Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre, Jerry's on a musical high and will be digging into his record collection to make this a celebratory day to remember.
Join us on Sunday 29th July to raise awareness not only of the bicentenary but also of the modern slave trade that sadly still exists in the present day.
To prove our dedication to this cause Freedom Beer will be donating a percentage of the profits on the day to Anti-Slavery International.

We expect great things from these guys – see them here first and please check out their myspace page.

THE VELVET HEARTS
For tonight's 'something else' we are very proud to announce a performance by wonderfully brilliant THE VELVET HEARTS.

Tipped by Radio 1's Zane Lowe as one of his tips for 2007 this performance is a chance to catch some band before galactica holds them and whisks them off to Earls Court.

SOULBREW
The SoulBrew All-Stars: Andy Bird & Spin Doctor with Hooch (Funkin' Pussy), Double Jay (Soul Heaven) & Sole Intent.
As ever the SoulBrew All-Stars Andy Bird & Spin Doctor will be providing the perfect Friday night soundtrack for those that love to dress up to get down! Supplying two rooms of floor fillers the boys will be using their years of expertise to keep those feet stomping to the sweet sound of soul in all it's guises!
Room 1: Expect nothing but block party vibes all the way as Spin Doctor & long time sparring partner DJ Hooch select the heaviest Hip-Hop and B-Boy Funk. Having played together in the last few months of the legendary Funkin' Pussy and numerous times since these 2 go together like cheese & pickle, they just offer a lot more flavour. With a combined 30+ years of rocking dance-floors there is nothing gonna stop these two from bringing every fashion of the funk!
Room 2: Joining SoulBrew's Andy Bird in Room Two will be two characters representing the best of british old and new London soul scenes.
First up is disco and boogie don, Double Jay. From promoting thoroughly debauched and award winning parties at the Legends nightclub in the eighties, to a show on then pirate Kiss FM, to a 5 year residency running and playing the soul box at London's famous Soul Heaven night @ Ministry, Jay has been there done that and most likely bought the t shirt. If you could stop him chuckling for a minute there are stories to make your Nan blush. With a soul and boogie record collection to snap knicker elastic at 20ft, or so he likes to think we have grabbed one of London's original boogie bad boys & dragged him out of his slippers to come and get the SoulBrew dancefloor bumping.
Joining them is the young pretender - the delightful Miss Sole Intent. A skilled steel drummer and fantastic DJ, the lovely Tafrina made her name on London's House FM with a Sunday evening show encompassing disco and deep and soulful house . An eclectic DJ not content to sit in the soulful house ghetto expect music from across the spectrum as she brings her unique charms to brighten up a Summers evening in the East End with some sweet sweet soul music.
