The Michael Roe House Concert tour will run from July 5-31.

With the success of other house concerts, we are thinking your house, backyard, or wherever, would be the perfect venue and best way for folks to experience Mike Roe's music and song, possibly for the very first time.  Mike has invited friends and musical guests to accompany him on this living room journey, so you never know what surprises may be in store.

There will be a contract for you to sign.

Promoters would provide:
* A clean, safe, performance space that will comfortably seat a minimum of 20 people, with room for a small PA (provided by Mike) and a "stage" area close to electric outlets large enough to accommodate an amp, a couple of guitars, microphones, etc, plus a table where merchandise can be sold.

* A minimum of 2 volunteers to be available from the time Mike arrives until his departure, to help with load-in, set-up, and load-out, and at least one trustworthy person over the age of 21, who is able to make change, to sell merchandise.

* A commitment to promote your show!  We can't do it for you, though we will post your concert on the announcement lists, message boards and websites.  You must get the word out in your neighborhoods, friends, church, workplace, etc, to get people out to your show.

No tickets will be sold at the door.  We will pre-sell a set number of tickets on various websites before the show (including myspace and Facebook). Tickets will be $20.  You will be provided with a detailed list before the show of everyone who will be coming.  You will not have to deal with any money.  (You will be provided with up to 4 free tickets for the show.)

You have the freedom to make this a party!  Have fun!  Make it a finger food potluck!  Make ice cream!  Have a barbeque!  You name it!

Outdoor shows are generally discouraged during the summer due to unpredictability and extremes of weather conditions, and must be cleared by us beforehand.  In the event we approve your space for it, the area must be covered and protected from the sun.  You must also have an alternate venue in case of an emergency.  The show must go on, rain or shine.

There will be more specifics in the actual contract you will sign.

Please let us know asap if you're interested in booking a show.

You are cordially invited to spend a rare and intimate evening of story and song with Terry Scott Taylor.

Terry Scott Taylor is a man who wears many hats. Singer. Cowboy hat. Songwriter. Baseball cap. Father. Fedora. Producer. Prophet. Prankster. Pioneer. As the founder of legendary CCM band Daniel Amos he helped pioneer a new artistically-minded aesthetic in a musically stunted genre. As the merry prankster behind the Swirling Eddies he became a supreme satirist while continuously shedding musical skins. As chief songwriter for the Lost Dogs he brought modern maturity to the old forms and helped make them relevant to new generations. As a composer for video games and cartoons he brought his quirky genius to bear in a field that had been rendered dull and void by electronic keyboards. As a solo artist he laid bare his personal life—its triumphs and tragedies—and made his story our story as well. Some of his songs are limericks. Some are literature. He's flown under most of the radar for more than 30 years but those in the know rank him among our greatest living treasures.

Out of a deep humility he usually works within the context of a band of musicians in order to take a little of the heat off himself. Not this night. This night, joined occasionally on stage by special guest Steve Hindalong and Terry's son Andrew, and armed only with a guitar and his incredible collection of hats, audiences will discover the real Terry Taylor. Intimacy is the name of the game and everyone is invited to play along. Songs. Stories. Answers. You’ll hear them all like never before. Come witness the mind of a visionary, the heart of an artist and the soul of a fellow pilgrim.

Joining Terry on stage for a select number of songs chosen from his extensive repertoire of Daniel Amos, Swirling Eddies, Lost Dogs, and solo recordings, will be special guest Steve Hindalong ( Lost Dogs' member, founding member of The Choir, creator and producer of the 'City on a Hill’ series, and co-writer of 'God of Wonders'). The ever illusive Camarillo Eddy, founder of 'The Swirling Eddies, is rumored to appear as well. We are also thrilled to announce that for the very first time ever, Terry's son Andrew will also join his father on stage.

Terry will not only entertain you with humorous and moving anecdotes and songs, he will offer readings from his forthcoming book of collected non-fiction, lyric recitations and commentary, and perform a variety of familiar songs as well as those rarely, if ever, performed in a live setting. At selected venues the evening will be capped off with an audience participation Q&A.

An Intimate evening with Terry Scott Taylor promises to be a surprising, 'don't miss' one-of-a-kind event.

A note from Terry: "As far as live performances go, I don't believe I've done anything quite like this before. I think the audience, which is really more a gathering of close friends and family, is in for some real surprises including a few firsts. Now, the mysterious Camarillo Eddy says he'll show up, but you never know about that guy. On the other hand, I know the great Steve Hindalong will be there to join me on a number of tunes. I've got to say however that my greatest thrill concerning this tour is that my son Andrew will, for the very first time in my 30 plus years of performing, be joining me on stage. I'm extremely proud of him and can't wait for folks to meet him. The song selection should be surprising as well. It's eclectic, unpredictable and culled from every musical entity I've ever been involved with down through the years. At many of the shows I'm planning to field questions from the audience and, if I know my crowd at all, this should prove quite interesting. I may even get Steve to do his leprechaun dance and also that thing where he flips a coin into the air and catches it behind his back. Now that's a show!

"We all essentially agree that we're living in fairly dark and unpredictable times. I'm prayerfully determined to lighten the audience’s load a bit and do so through laughter, some challenges, and more importantly some heart-felt inspiration. (Oh, by the way, I've got some road stories to tell which, in some instances, are truly weird and astounding.)

"Anyway, in the words of Sam the Sham ‘Let's not be L7!’ Come on out to the show and let's all have a wonderful time together." - Terry Taylor

Please let us know asap if you would like to book this very special concert.

Hey, hope you guys are enjoying the new Dogs' stuff. Originally planned as a two stage recording process, the Route 66 project became a month of late night writing sessions, 3-4am bedtimes and a bleary-eyed Roe eating ice-cream sandwiches as the sun came up. I wound up being in Nashville for a month, (having canceled a much earlier return flight) and aside from missing my wife, happy to stay the course. Inspiration and passion fueled the work ethic and the deeper we got into this thing, the more determined we were to complete the trip and carry back to our individual necks of the woods a sense of the accomplishment of a job well done. We knew from day one that we'd taken on a project of epic proportions---an homage to our nation's history embodied in the lives, present and past, of those whose narratives the Glory Road represents. No easy task. I'm happy to say that as far as the recording process is concerned, the journey is almost complete, the Santa Monica pier is just up ahead.

While in Nashville, we were somewhat like kids building a fort in the backyard, anxious to show their work off and to bask in the joy of Mom and Dad's admiration...you guys being (in this sense) our parents. We can't wait for you to see our "fort"--- so excited in fact, that we're about to have a little "accident in our pant" as Mike would say. So while the construction on the fort isn't quite complete, maybe a little misaligned here and there and not quite ready for the Little Rascals to call to order a meeting of the "He Man Women Hater Club," we hope you enjoy what we've built so far. Thank you guys so much for being such an intelligent and discerning bunch. Music is our gift to you for your support and friendship down through the years and there is no greater pleasure for us than in knowing it is being placed in loving, appreciative hands. Please pray for us and this project whenever it comes to mind.
Love ya,
Terry

Your technologically challenged Uncle finally made it. Woody Allen once said that eighty percent of life is just showing up, so it's good to be here. I've been living with the rough mixes of the new recording almost every day now since getting back from Nashville, and I've got to say I'm honestly still very much in love with it. I haven't yet reached the point of true objectivity where I start thinking that we ought to erase all of it, start over, and maybe bring in Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass to help "punch it up." As Steve suggested, the road trip down Route 66 was incredibly inspiring and a truckload of songs came out of this rich experience. I re-read Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath" before the trip (haven't read it since my early twenties), and at one point on the road all of the Dog's watched the film version of the novel. This certainly helped to evoke in us all the "dust bowl Okie" sense of the road's history and to inspire a few songs about that particular period. Of course there were the old Drive-Ins, restored gas stations, diners, hotels, and various tourist trap icons that also motivated us to write a number of songs, along with the most important aspect of our trip---the people. They overwhelmed us with their kindness, hospitality, individual uniqueness, and more importantly their willingness to tell us incredible storys about their lives in relationship to the Glory Road, all of which we mined in the creation of both music and film. I will say that Roe drove the RV most of the time, and we spent half the trip missing exits and having to turn around miles up the road. I may be wrong about this, but I think Mike is probably the only guy in the group whose never been camping in his life and wouldn't know a tent from a moo-moo. Steve was the only true sucker...er..camper on this deal, and as he told you in his blog, he braved the elements while the rest of us nestled serenely in the RV's body-stench ridden lap-o-luxury where Roe continued every night to build Thomas Merton's Seven 'Snorry' Mountain. Despite that, the good Lord was certainly with us and blessing us with an abundance of traveling mercies as well as giving us a shared experience that was so profound we are not likely to ever forget it. The most exciting thing for us now is getting to share it with all of you through film, music, and live performances. We can't wait! All that we experienced is obviously way to much to capture in one blog, so I plan on coming back here as often as I can and risk boring you all to death.
Blessings fellow travelers.

And it's true, we've recorded 14 new Dogs songs inspired by our trip last fall from Chi Town to the Santa Monica Pier.  We did it in an RV  -- 3 weeks -- mostly stayed in campgrounds and KOAs.  Man, I outmanuevered everybody by packing a personal tent.  The first night (before I figured out how to set it up) I just layed in the grass with only a pillow. It rained a little, but no matter.  No way was I gonna be in that tin box with all that insufferable snoring!  Ah, but for this lone dog under the stars... it was mostly bliss! (Especially as we got further west).  Anyhow -- the journey, the music -- so much to share.  Yes, and Terry and I have agreed to jump over (or dig out from under) our back yard fences and start woofing at passers by ( to start blogging on this site, I mean). Perhaps Dr. Love and Derri will sing at the moon as well.

I have good news and bad news.

Terry flew to Nashville a couple of weeks ago to continue work with Steve and Derri on the Route 66 album.  The good news is that the recording is going "great" in the words of Steve HIndalong.  He called a couple of days ago with an enthusiastic report that they expect a 14-song album to be recorded by  id-March.  There has been a lot of collaboration and the album will include a variety of genres.

Now for the bad news.  Mike recently flew to Nashville and when they were getting ready to lay guitar tracks they discovered three of Derri's guitars (Strat, Tele, and Gibson 345 12-string) were stolen while he was out of town for a
couple of days last week.

For those of you who pray, now would be a good time.  I believe this guitar fiasco is a a spiritual attack and we need to pray a covering over this project.  Let's join forces and do some spiritual warfare!

Thanks to each of you who has given love and support to The Lost Dogs.  We do not ever take you for granted.

The Lost Dogs are entering the studio in February to continue work on
the upcoming Route 66 album and DVD. Some of you have asked if we are
still accepting donations and the answer is "yes!" All donations will
go toward production costs. Because of your already generous donations
all our bills are paid and we're in the black, but we still need at
least $5,000 to keep this project afloat.

More Route 66 t-shirts will be available shortly in the webstore as well as some Lost Dogs "logo" t-shirts.

Also, we will soon be offering sets of Route 66 postcards of The Lost
Dogs in action (set of 8 -- one postcard representing each state) and
we are getting ready to put the Waterstone guitars (used on the tour)
and other memorabilia up for auction on Ebay.

Lastly, we will keep the donation options open until further notice,
since we are in dire need of funding to cover CD and DVD productions
costs.

Donations are accepted on thelostdogs.com
and myspace.com/thelostdogsmusic

Thank you so much for your patience and continued support!
