Hey Folks, well the recession has brought with it time, time to reflect, time to worry, time to post photos and probably time to get a job. Despite some of them being a little old I have posted up some photos of activities P-love have been involved in over the past year or so. A little late perhaps, but wi-fi is mighty difficult to get when surrounded by walls, not to mention the queue for the computer due to "illegal"(in some states) browsing on the web. Never the less the pics are now there for all to see.
Enjoy P-love

Howdy folks, Its been a busy few weeks out on the run with visits to France and Cork. As usual the law has caught up with us and were now safely tucked away in our cells until the next shipment of rock hammers arrives with the library cart. A big shout out goes to Eddie and family and all involved in the organizing and running of Goud'Acoustic festival in the beautiful village of Goudargues. Highly recommended as a place to lie low and smell the roses. I would also like to point you in the direction of the Rockridge Brothers for some spot on old time fiddle music. A big shout out to those fine Sweedish gentlemen. I can truely say that the festival and folks of Goudargues put a smile on each and everyone of the Prison Love faces.

Village, Wexford St. 8pm, €15 from 1890200078 & ticketmaster.
Fresh from touring with Joan Baez and recording with The Raconteurs, Louisiana’s youngest old-timer, Dirk Powell, brings the bayou to Dublin city for one night only at The Village. His vibrancy and creative energy crosses many boundaries but he’s always grounded in the rural traditions of his Appalachian heritage.
He brings with him another heavyweight of the Louisiana music tradition, 2007 Cajun French Fiddler of the Year, Joel Savoy; with the Arkansas whirlwind, Betse Ellis from The Wilders completing this incredible line-up.
Dublin’s Prison Love will kick off the night, re-uniting with their good buddy Dirk, to continue with their tuition of Oldtime and Cajun music with the man who has taught them so much. Their driving rhythm, sweet melodies and soaring harmonies result in the finest musical moonshine this side of the Rock Island line.
“Dirk’s got great subtlety, tremendous feel, and he’s very loose and very modern, in the best sense of the word.” T-Bone Burnett “Hearing Dirk play the fiddle on the set of Cold Mountain, I felt as if my work as an actor had already been done for me.” Jude Law. "Now that’s the kind of fiddlin I like, right there..." Loretta Lynn. "Proof that the circle remains unbroken..." Washington Post
"Prison Love trade in high octane bluegrass with just the right tincture of trouser-hitchin’ country. Their sizzling songs set the bar high from the get-go." Siobhan Long, Irish Times

We in the State Penn just wanted to offer our sincere thanks to all those who came out to see us at the Midlands Fest, in Mullingar over the weekend. We had some problems at the start what with the authorities insisting we start our gig even though the gates weren't even open yet! That aside we all agree that it was a finely run festival with some really outstanding acts (it made the 3 weeks of tunneling to get there and the subsequent re-arrest and totally worth it!) Thanks also to the Body and Soul tent who put on a cracking couple of nights entertainment.
See you all at our next break-out!

A big thank you to all the faithful who came to our show last night.
It was great to see some new faces too - hope we made a good impression.
The album went like wildfire, and the free soap was enjoyed.
See you next time,
Prison Love

Howdy folks!
Today FM recently ran a competition to record the best possible version of The Undertones classic teen anthem, "Teenage Kicks."
We sent them our version.
They liked it, and have shortlisted us for the finals.
1st prize is €7,500 from Nescafé.
Starting Monday May 28th they will play one a day at 7.45am. Ours will be on Tuesday 29th May.
After the last one is played on Friday June 1st, the textline will be open for an hour.
To vote for us, text 2 to the number.
We hope you can help us out!

Howdy folks,
If you're in Dublin Friday 25th May, come to the Cherrytree Pub upstairs, a newly refurbished 120 seater venue on the Walkinstown roundabout. We've played it already and it's a great space, perfect for listening & dancing. Buses direct from Trinity college are 50, 56A, 77, 77A.
Our new album will be ready soon, but we'll be playing material from it on the night to give you lucky folk a preview.
See you there Hurricane www.prisonlove.ie www.myspace.com/prisonloveband
