Risa is originally from Forest Hills Queens and went to Rock and Roll High (Forest Hills High), same school as Simon and Garfunkel and the Ramones.She was friends with the Ramones and her brother still plays in the Rattler’s with Joey’s brother Mickey Leigh. Risa started her career as an actor appearing as Frenchy in Grease and with Sinitta in the Heather Brother’s musical as well as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with William Gaunt and Joe McGann. From the age of 9 Risa was writing songs and performing them on her mother’s terrace. She finally got enough confidence to really write and perform her songs 3 and a half years ago and produced the acclaimed ep, APPLE TARTE featuring the haunting song ‘Roses’ which has been lauded. Risa lives in the UK in Manchester, but also plays in New York and will soon be reaching Europe and the West Coast of America. Risa appears regularly on BBC Radio and the BBC have lauded Risa and called her music ‘lyrically courageous, musically eclectic and performed with genuine inspiration’.
