As some of you know, Nerina Pallot, my favourite artist, gave me the opportunity to open for her and it was amazing of her as well as being a golden opportunity for me. Since the gig, I have made so many new fans and contacts and couldn't have been happier with how we went down. I was the support to the support and still had people LISTENING, applauding and coming up to me to say hi and buy some eps. Nerina was premièring her new album The Graduate and also played a medley of Elton John songs , but in her own inimitable style.
The next step is going to be doing my long awaited album. As well as Nerina, two of my musical heroes are Nigel Stonier and Thea Gilmore and Nigel is producing my album. Thanks to a close friend of mine, my ep was given to him and he RANG ME!! I thought it was a hoax call at first I was so stunned. He really is taken with the variety of my material and we are currently in meetings to decide which tracks will go on the album, Glass Half? being recorded in Jan/Feb. I have waited a long time to do my album mainly because of funds but also because I did not have the right Producer.
Tours in Denmark and L.A. will follow and I will be doing some gigs with my friend (and another musical hero) , Sheila Nicholls.
Just watch this space. Five years of hard work are finally paying off. ..and who said you have to be a kid to achieve your dreams? X
If you haven't pledged for me yet, pledging ends on November 15th ....Love ya folks

I went to see Hall and Oates this summer and was just bowled over by how timeless they are. All their songs make me smile and have unforgettable hooks. I was very inspired and came up with this little ditty that I put on my page . We recorded this at a rehearsal tonight and want to know what you think. It probably isn't finished and needs another verse or middle 8, but I think it is pretty 'hooky' and it was based on Kiss On My LIst, one of my all time fave songs.
Have a listen and give me your opinions- good or bad. xx

americana pop folk jazzRisa is originally from Forest Hills Queens and went to Rock and Roll High (Forest Hills High), same school as Simon and Garfunkel and the Ramones. She was friends with the Ramones and her brother still plays in the Rattler’s with Joey’s brother Mickey Leigh. Risa started her career as an actor appearing as Frenchy in Grease and with Sinitta in the Heather Brother’s musical as well as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with William Gaunt and Joe McGann. From the age of 9 Risa was writing songs and performing them on her mother’s terrace. She finally got enough confidence to really write and perform her songs 3 and a half years ago and produced the acclaimed ep, APPLE TARTE featuring the haunting song ‘Roses’ which has been lauded. Risa lives in the UK in Manchester, but also plays in New York and will soon be reaching Europe and the West Coast of America. Risa appears regularly on BBC Radio and the BBC have lauded Risa and called her music ‘lyrically courageous, musically eclectic and performed with genuine inspiration’. Due to losing her ‘day’ job, Risa’s dream of recording her new long ep , Glass Half has been destroyed. With your pledges, Risa can not only record with a Producer, she can donate some of that money to two great charities, the NSPCC and BANA. The NSPCC helps to combat cruelty to children while BANA deals in researching the brain tumour, acoustic neuroma. Both these charities are close to my heart. Thanks for everything and love you x

For those that know me (and some who don't) , I am raising money to complete my long-awaited album, Glass Half? I have the songs and two great producers interested in working with me, but what I don't have is the money. I lost my job and my one- year contract ended with no renewal so I have to fund this with help. I also want to donate money to charities that mean alot to me and Pledge music has a link to charities. I have chosen two charities close to my heart, The NSPCC to help combat cruelty to children and BANA, to treat acoustic neuromas (benign brain tumours).
You can pledge as little as $10 which is about £5 and do not get charged a penny unless I make goal. You can get a house gig (Northwest based only) voice/drama lessons (Manchester based), name on the credits, come to gigs.soundchecks and all kinds of incentives.

Sorry all that I have been a bit lax about blogging, but I have been really busy and then I had this wee accident with my leg which left me with a black and blue and swollen leg and a lump the size of a rock! It is getting better although I am still needing ice and walking a bit slow, but getting around.
So far I have managed to go to Bloomies, see a few pals and do a gig on Friday night at Gizzis which was great. People from all over the world seemed to be there-including a surprise guest from Greenmount, Bury who I didn't expect. I got to see my cousin and his wife and stepson which was wonderful as I rarely see them. The gig rocked and there are more to come.
Tonight I am off to the Sidewalk Cafe where we are going to play on Avenue A in the City. My singer-songwriter friends Lisa Redford and Markeisha Ensley, wonderful talents in their own right, are coming to watch. I also have some childhood friends coming which is lovely.
It is so wonderful to be home. I feel like Dorothy clicking her heels three times and ending back in Kansas. There is no place like home.
