We warmly welcome Do Make Say Think, The Happiness Project & Years: The fourth Moutique Ensemble is all about introducing Do Make Say Think, The Happiness Project & Years: All of which are part of the "Do Make Say Think" family and Canadian labels Constellation and Arts & Crafts. All members involved have already been performing together on one stage but the production of these three projects could not be any more diverse. You can expect an experimental post-rock evening in a class of its own with lots of noise and gentleness, bright and dark, grand and small.
DO MAKE SAY THINK (CAN | Constellation) For more than ten years, Canadian instrumental postrockers "Do Make Say Think" releasing on Constellation Records (GY!BE) have been creating grand and small experimental epics: ceremonial, almost sacral elements can be found among guitars being strum world-enrapturedly to then erupt into cracking guitar noise in other places. Especially live, it is an emotional accumulation of nostalgic, fulsome and reflective moments to close your eyes and enjoy.
THE HAPPINESS PROJECT (CAN | Arts & Crafts) "The Happiness Project" ist about Charles Spearin's neighbours happiness. Some of which, the member of "Do Make Say Think" and "Broken Social Scene" interviewed on the subject of happiness during one year. After that he noticed a natural melody to the speaking voices of his neighbours and wrote music based on these accidental melodies. In combination with Mrs. Morris', Vanessa's and Anna's lyrics this makes for one of this year's most emotional and most interesting projects - "The Happiness Project".
YEARS (CAN | Arts & Crafts) Ohard Benchetrit plays the guitar, bass, saxophone, flute and is from Canada. Putting one and one together you will soon conclude that Ohad must be a member of the artist collective "Broken Social Scene". Which is correct. But that's only half of it. As Ohad Benchetrit mainly plays for postrock band "Do Make Say Think" and now also has a solo project "Years". His self-titled debut album was released on "Arts & Crafts" succeeding previous projects associated with BSS, The Stills and Co. Finding a comparison for his music is not easy, as his own best equivalent is probably he himself the music of - "Years".

Hello, spring fans! With a little sun and the warm breeze on our necks, the tedium of writing newsletters has become a lot more joyful. Prepare yourself for a newsletter full of good cheer! The newest of the new at Moutique is the crazed DAN DEACON ENSEMBLE! In America, the kids & Pitchfork have been celebrating Deacon's mad scientist music and we have made it our job to see that the same happens in Germany. Well, it's partially YOUR job too because celebrating is only half as much fun alone. Go wild!! http://www.myspace.com/dandeacon To add to the sunshine is the return of JOHN VANDERSLICE - this August on German festival stages and again in the fall on his club tour. For a little preview: http://www.johnvanderslice.com On Tuesday, our second Moutique Ensemble started successfully (and with a lot of sun) in Hamburg - beautiful, Swedish girls AUDREY (Tendervision Records) and SARA LOV (Nettwerk) graced the stage and won over the hearts of the recently hibernated. Both will continue on through Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and France. Afterwards, their paths will separate - Audrey will fly to Japan and Sara Lov will bless the rest of Europe with her dream-like voice and engaging songs. Don't miss these shows. They will be idyllic... April 19, 2009 will see the commencement of the next Moutique Ensemble: GRAND ARCHIVES (Sub Pop); and the newest project of American Analog Set singer, Andrew Kenny: THE WOODEN BIRDS (Morr Music). The sonically-matched pair of bands will be touring for over a month, visiting no fewer than 9 countries, including the rare and beautiful Zagreb, Croatia. To continue on with Morr Music... This Berlin super-label is packing 3 bands into a suitcase, wrapping it up in a Morr Music compilation, and sending it out to travel the world. To be more specific: Morr Music Nights with SIN FANG BOUS (Iceland), BORKO (Iceland), and IT'S A MUSICAL (Berlin) - these bands start a European tour at the end of May. And for all the ladies, check out the new song from Iceland's most handsome singer, Sindri (Seabear), and his new project, Sin Fang Bous. An mp3 can be downloaded here(To all the gentlemen: if you can't admit that he's handsome, you still can't deny that Sindri can sing...) As spring slowly creeps through the clouds, we know it's almost time for one of our favorite festivals. In conjunction, we are excited to announce that our newest discovery from Seattle, TELEKINESIS, will celebrate their first European show at the IMMERGUT festival . Start practicing your festival dance moves at http://www.myspace.com/telekinesismusic Speaking of favorites... One of our favorite music magazines - VISIONS - invited our Berlin post-rock kids, TER HAAR, to perform as a headliner at their legendary Visions-Party at the beginning of May. Last but not least, before we release you into the spring sun: The eloquent Swede, KRISTOFFER RAGNSTAM, will travel to the Orange Blossom Festival with his new single, "Swing That Tambourine". Check out all you need to know herePlease come out and enjoy these shows - You won't regret it! Enjoy the newfound spring and happy egg-hunting! We warmly recommend our first Morr Music Label Tour! Are the sounds on the road to get to the people? Or do they just wait until somebody comes around, picks them up and sends them on their journey through the apparatuses. Piles them up into melodies and compiles them into architectures of sound? People are on their way, people with their melodies. A whole bus full of people and melodies, from Reykjavik, from Southern Sweden, from Berlin. Three bands and artists who have just put their landmarks on the Morr Music map. They go on with the gestures as well as the spirit the label once started up, three quarters digitally, completely self-confident and self-determined. In a way this journey is a birthday trip as well: the tools have changed, the analogue gradually has come back. The attitude, however, has remained unchanged. That is what the label compilation „Not Given Lightly – A Tribute to the Giant Golden Book of New Zealand’s Alternative Music Scene“ tells about. SIN FANG BOUS (ISL I Morr Music) www.myspace.com/sinfangbousPart of the compilation as well as the tour: young Sindri Mar Sigfusson who already made that timeless and equally up-to-date pop music with “Seabear”. “Sin Fang Bous”, his new project, is an embrace of intuition and the clever knowledge that characterizes bands like “Panda Bear” or “Caribou”. But with one single difference: “Sin Fang Bous” actually means pop music: direct and incredibly charming and similarly reduced to its essence. “Pocket Symphonies” one is inclined to say with Brian Wilson. BORKO (ISL I Morr Music) www.myspace.com/borkoborkoAnd, there is Borko, also from Reykjavik and – with body and soul – the Jim O’ Rourke of the Morr Music universe. Melancholy and the rhythm machines, the passion for the repetitive and the delight in explosions. Working with laptop as well as the expressive and excessive concerts. That is what Borko is known for. ProgRock records of his childhood combined with the warmth of Electronica. In a way Borko is the most “conceptual” artist who has ever released on Morr Music. The most impressive thing is that it does not sound conceptual at all. What you get are hits, and a love for sounds and details. IT’S A MUSICAL (GER I Morr Music) www.myspace.com/itsamusicalberlinFinally, there are Ella Blixt and Robert Kretzschmar, Sweden and Berlin, “It’s a Musical”. Two voices that let all the space of the world to one another in order to embrace each other very closely within the next moment. Telling us short stories constantly. “It’s a musical” are as rough as subtle, as virtuoso as amateurish, as go-getting as pausing, as obvious as mischievous. „If there would be a guarantee, a guarantee for harmony“ that is what the lyrics long for in one of their songs. This fits to the music, too, whose smallest as well as biggest common denominator can be called pop. And sincerity beyond borrowed gestures and attitudes. MORR MUSIC NIGHT feat. Hello and welcome to the first Moutique News!
It's official. Mikrokultur is History. We closed our old collective and have opened a brand new agency with new staff, more services and some amazing additions to our roster. We're really looking forward to doing more of what we love under our new name: Moutique.
Our team is made up of 5 lovely and talented ladies. Nadin Brendel and Sybille (Bibo) Koller make up the core of Moutique. Bibo will book tours for all Moutique artists in close teamwork with Nadin, and Nadin will be on the hunt for new music while also taking charge of tour production & travels. Inga Girkens will look after tour publicity and promotions, while Lisa Pielicke our new trainee and our intern Kathi round out the starting line-up. You can find out more about the agency and our staff on http://www.myspace.com/moutique.
Seems like everyone has got something to call "new" these days and we're no different. We're proud to announce that the newest member of the Moutique family is TELEKINESIS - our new favourite band from Seattle! We fell in love after the first notes hit our eardrums and after visiting them in Seattle in January, we are overjoyed to announce that we will look after their European bookings from now on! We'll start working on their fall tour shortly and will keep you all updated as dates become finalized. We hope you love them as much as we do. Feel free to say Hello here: http://www.myspace.com/telekinesismusic
Since the sun is starting to poke through the clouds over Berlin, all our thoughts are on Spring and our two incredible Spring tours.
First we kick off April when the beautiful Swedish ladies from AUDREY (Tenderversion Rec.) will join with DEVICS-singer SARA LOV (Nettwerk) on a European tour under the Moutique Ensemble banner.
For the end of April the superb GRAND ARCHIVES (SubPop) from Seattle have been invited to start a 4 week Moutique Ensemble European tour with THE WOODEN BIRDS (Morr Music), American Analog Set singer Andrew Kenny's new project. Give your ears a treat and listen to their beautiful music here: http://www.myspace.com/grandarchives & http://www.myspace.com/thewoodenbirds

We warmly recommend Grand Archives and The Wooden Birds as the third Moutique Ensemble: The two bands invite you to a one-of-a-kind folk night. Hailing from Washington State and Texas respectively, the tender singer-songwriter-arrangements are sure to give you goosebumps. Be one of the first 5 guests entering the club and you will get a lucky goodie bag stuffed with gems from beloved friends & artists. GRAND ARCHIVES (US I Sub Pop) www.grandarchives.comwww.myspace.com/grandarchivesMat Brooke (Band of Horses, Carissa’s Wierd) started Grand Archives in September 2006. He and his bandmates share a desire to make great pop, rather than curse the darkness. The band recorded their debut in summer 2007 which was released on Sub Pop Records, Seattle in 2008. Across the album’s eleven tracks, you’ll hear trombone and Flugelhorn, violin and pedal steel guitar – and some timbres trickier to identify, slide guitars were rubbed with violin bows, cellos plucked to create bass lines. Grand Archives want little more than to tour the world and occasionally crash in a motel with soft towels – they, most importantly, want to find receptive listeners for their music. THE WOODEN BIRDS (US I Morr Music) www.thewoodenbirds.comwww.myspace.com/thewoodenbirdsAndrew Kenny is known as the singer/songwriter behind mellow indie favorites the American Analog Set and he's also performed as a guest artist with the Album Leaf, Her Space Holiday, Styrofoam, and Broken Social Scene. His latest project is called the Wooden Birds and their first album Magnolia is due out in Europe April 17th on Morr Music. Fans of The AmAnSet will recognize his voice and song writing immediately, but the arrangements on Magnolia are more vocal and percussion heavy than anything he's done before. MOUTIQUE ENSEMBLE feat. We warmly recommend Ter Haar, It‘s A Musical and Kid Dakota as the first Moutique Ensemble: young bands with impartial fondness of experimenting, making music and unfettered practice! TER HAAR (GER | sinnbus rec.) www.terhaarmusic.dewww.myspace.com/terhaar A full blast! Absolutely natural and effortless, this band kinks, bends, and builds up respectable musical delicacies. They expertly mix fragile structures, hurricanes, and nervous madness with, well, pop music. IT'S A MUSICAL (GER | morr music) www.itsamusical.comwww.myspace.com/itsamusicalberlin Musicals create a synthetic world. It‘s A Musical, however, are serious and great fun. It‘s A Musical create pop music in a direct way. Two people, two voices, their instruments, perfectly put into focus, but not staged. KID DAKOTA (USA | devilduck records) www.kiddakota.comwww.myspace.com/kiddakotaKid Dakota is a creation of extremes. Almost whispered voices slide into biting riffs and crushing beats. Loneliness pairs with beauty. The duo from Minneapolis is able to fill a whole arena with their sound. MOUTIQUE ENSEMBLE feat.
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to the MOUTIQUE ENSEMBLE! An ensemble is primarily defined as a group of artists and musicians performing together. A secondary definition is of a group defined as a whole rather than as individuals, glued together by circumstance, esthetic quality, or some other cohesive device. The second definition is the foundation for Moutique Ensembles.
The heart of Moutique Ensembles is found in this handcrafted approach to performance and touring; with each band thoughtfully handpicked to play together, based on a vision of sonic potential, these artists and musicians evolve together, captivating audiences with their musical synergy and thereby challenging themselves in their art. In short, an unforgettable evening defined by metered chaos and harmony.

A GOLDEN PONY BOY (berlin | unsigned) | myspace.com/agoldenponyboy
IT..'S A MUSICAL (berlin | morr music) | myspace.com/itsamusicalberlinMusicals entwerfen eine kuenstliche Welt. It’s a Musical machen hingegen Ernst. Und großen Spaß. It’s a musical machen Popmusik in einem absolut unmittelbaren Sinn.

Since then the agency has thrived and prospered because MIKROKULTUR has always had a talent for developing up-and-coming artists. They have booked and promoted tours throughout Germany and Europe for the likes of The Album Leaf, The Arcade Fire, Blonde Redhead, Broken Social Scene, Death Cab For Cutie, Explosions In The Sky, Fotos, Girls In Hawaii, Monta, Pinback, Sophia, Stars, Timid Tiger and many more. In August MIKROKULTUR made an important step into a successful future: Bibo Koller and Philipp Koller of kitty-go booking startet working at MIKROKULTUR. kitty-go has organised tours throughout Europe for the past 3 years for Chikinki, Kristoffer Ragnstam and some of Germany..'s most acclaimed experimental talents, Sdnmt and Ter Haar. Moreover, MIKROKULTUR is happy to represent Giant Sand, Klez.e, The Cave Singers, Nik Freitas & Hayden, who have just recently joined our agency roster. As part of the Popkomm Music Festival & Conference, we want to to celebrate our 5th anniversary with many of our new artists and, of course, with you. For this extraordinary evening we have picked an equally special location: The 101 at Admiraspalast Berlin. Built in 1873, originally as public baths, revered since 1911 as a ..'sophisticated establishment..' and later as the well-known Metropol-Theater, the Admiralspalast radiates an amazing history and atmosphere. The following artists will brighten up your evening: A GOLDEN PONY BOY (berlin | unsigned) polymorphic appearance Is there anybody out there, who would not surrender to the incredible power and the emotional clout of this young acoustic trio? A Golden Pony Boy will release an enormous amount of energy and present you new titbits from Berlin-Karlshorst. IT..'S A MUSICAL (berlin | morr music) 09.00-09:45 PM Musicals depict an artificial world. “It’s a Musical”, however, are sincere about it. And they are great fun to listen to. “It’s a Musical” means pop music in an absolute immediate sense. Two artists, their voices, their instruments. Going forward, turning somersaults. BODIES OF WORK (london | unsigned) 10:00-10:45 PM Can it get any fresher? Hardly. They come all the way from the UK and they will make your day! Great rhyme and certainly a great band bringing along a brand-new, yet unreleased album. If the dancefloor is your friend you will be compelled to love them. TER HAAR (berlin | sinnbus rec.) 11:00-11:45 PM An outrageously young band, promising much and dealing out plenty. Vigorously witty and playful, Ter Haar twist and shake the arthritic godfather of Post Rock heritage. Drums, bass and guitar shoo ideas across the dance floor, directly into people..'s hearts. KLEZ.E (berlin | loob musik) 12:00-12:45 AM Pop without cliché, rock without staginess. Yet marvelous enough to give you that certain feeling. Exclusively for Mikrokultur, the five Berliners will suspend working on their new album to go nuts on stage and take us with them. SEABEAR feat. Borko (reykjavik | morr music) 01:00-01:45 AM It..'s a far cry from Berlin to Iceland, the musical heartland. Nevertheless, they come all the way from Reykjavik. Sindri, Örn Ingi, Guggý, Inga, Kjartan, Dóri, Sóley, Örvar, Eiki & Porri. Many names - even more Instruments. Tiny and gigantic, unobtrusive and exciting at the same time. And if this wasn..'t enough we also want to give presents to you! Be one of the first 50 guests entering our door and you will get a lucky bag stuffed with gems from our beloved friends at Morr Music (morrmusic.com), Sinnbus rec. (sinnbus.de), Loob Musik (loobmusik.de), Weekender Records (weekenderrecords.de), Photocase (photocase.com), Heimat (mein-heimat-laden.de), Human Empire (humanempire.de) and of course Mikrokultur (mikrokultur.de). In addition there will be a bazar where one can find exquisite goods of the friends already mentioned above. Come over! We will be there, too..
A Golden Pony Boy (Berlin), Bodies Of Work (London), Klez.e (Berlin), It's A Musical (Berlin), Seabear feat. Borko (Reykjavik) & Ter Haar (Berlin).

In 2003 Nadin Brendel and Daniel Kempf founded the booking agency MIKROKULTUR. Since then the agency has thrived and prospered. We are now glad to announce that MIKROKULTUR and kitty-go booking will join forces.
MIKROKULTUR has always had a feel for up-and-coming artists and has booked and promoted tours through Germany and Europe for the likes of The Album Leaf, The Arcade Fire, Blonde Redhead, Broken Social Scene, Death Cab For Cutie, Explosions In The Sky, Fotos, Girls In Hawaii, Monta, Pinback, Q and Not U, Sophia, Stars, Timid Tiger and many more. In 2007 MIKROKULTUR was nominated for a LEA (Live Entertainment Award / Germany) in the category of 'Talent Development'.
Now MIKROKULTUR is about to make an important step into a successful future. Bibo Koller and Philipp Koller of kitty-go booking will be working at MIKROKULTUR as of today. kitto-go booking has organised tours throughout Europe for the past 3 years including tours for Chikinki, Kristoffer Ragnstam and some of Germany's most acclaimed experimental talents like Sdmt or Ter Haar. This exciting partnership is also a logical step, as we have known each personally for years now and work with the same ambition, spirit and approach to what music business should be like.
Moreover, we are happy to start representing Giant Sand, Klez.e, The Cave Singers and Hayden who just recently joined our agency roster.
As part of the Popkomm Music Festival & Conference we want to point the way for a productive collaboration. We would like to celebrate our 5th anniversary with many new artists and, of course, with you. We invite you to the MIKROKULTUR FESTIVAL at 101/ Admiralspalast. The event will take place on the 9th of October. Expect an extraordinary evening with a fantastic german-british-icelandic line-up in one of the most beautiful locations in Berlin.
