Mit dabei: Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Kinks, Small Faces, Turtles, Love, Troggs, Findlay Brown, Empire Of The Sun und Paul, Pat & Alexis.....
Erweitert euer Bewusstsein, genießt dieses Tape und go with the flow, dude...

Due to incessant demand I have decided to bow to the inevitable: here’s my first little Mix. A unpretentiously humorous trip to the expansive spheres of spheric widths. A travel through cheerful Pop music back to the time when it was unaware of the fact that it would going to be called “Psychedelic” quite soon.
Part of the party: Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Kinks, Small Faces,
Turtles, Love, Troggs, Findlay Brown, Empire Of The Sun and Paul, Pat &
Alexis.....

Widen your consciousness, enjoy this tape and go with the flow, dude...

A new rubric from my side on this wonderful platform:
the recommendation of the week.

+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW+++ROTW

My intention is trying to show you new music I found that I like and that you might like, too. Here it doesn't make a difference if the music I recommend is the latest release of some artist or just good music from some time ago. Neither it is bound to genres or styles.
Here we go.

The Mars Volta (Rock/ Psychedelic/ Salsa/ Progressive)

This band is a rarity in the nowaday music market. Signed to major label Universal since their debut album and continuing to make unconventional rock music with psychedelic influences, The Mars Volta defenitely can be seen as a phenomenom in the contemporary music scene.
Their musical constructs seem like mathematics and chaos to people, which is no wonder with an average song-lenght of about 10 minutes.
Besides their ingenious, though quite abstract, melody- and song-writing (all lyrics, with quite poetic potential, written by singer and college dropout Cedric Bixler-Zavala), The Mars Volta are workaholics, especially lead-guitarist and main songwriter Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Despite the fact that they would have "a dozen" of other albums waiting to be released (as Rodriguez-Lopez once stated in an interview) by ongoing recording and producing of music, The Mars Volta were able to publish four albums of impermeable complexity within their 5-year-band history - EP's, Live-Albums, continuous touring and collaborations with other artists excluded.

Mit (Pop/ Electro/ Rock)

It all began with a support-show for legendary english electropunks Test Icicles in freezing december '05. Meanwhile the Icicles parted and the perpetual insider from Cologne Mit recorded, after releasing one beater single after the other for about two years, their debut album. After trying out how near they could get to the noise grade of good old Atari Teenage Riot, Coda is supposed to be a new beginning in the musical history of the young Colonians. More repetitive soundscapes and less synthiepunk attitude are the defining elements of the trio's new ouevre.

Ewan Pearson (Electro)

Being known for one of the world's best remixers right know might put a few people under pressure. Not so Ewan Pearson who, since 1998, has been mostly working on others peoples tracks. Meanwhile he lives in Berlin and is signed at !K7-Records, after being under contract at other legendary labels for electronic music, especially noteworthy Soma Quality Recordings and Fabric.
In his carreer which has been lasting for nearly ten years now Pearson has remixed a whole lot of bands, for example Alter Ego, Franz Ferdinand, Goldfrapp, The Chemical Brothers or The Rapture.
His latest Release, Piece Work (!K7, 2007), combines some of his best remixes ever done on a double-cd-album.

No.-° 7: The Sunshine Underground (Rock/ Pop/ Electro)

This band really sweetened up my last week. Named after a Chemical Brothers Song (to find on their '99er lp "Surrender") these four young brits set up their band the same year the bandname-giving song is released. Their aim is to get people on the floor to dance their heels off. While doing this they often sound a bit like The Rapture because of the similarity of both band's singer's voices. But when they sound similar, The Sunshine Underground is the happier sounding band. With their fresh'n'funky guitar sound, this luscious drumplay and the frantic but nonetheless melodic voice of singer Craig Wellington, the band definitely knows how to make walkman-listeners walk cheerfully to their groovy rhythms...
