Cheryl E. Leonard's Rock Band: Cheryl Leonard, Karen Stackpole, and A.L. Dentel. A beautiful show at the Exploratorium on Chinese New Year with water, rocks, and the miracle of amplified sound. Six pieces were performed and we all played twister with the mixer and did yoga maneuvers while passing around slabs of granite between compositions. Doesn't get any better than this (unless of course it involves METAL!) - Gong Hay Fat Choy!

Hello seekers of the good stuff-
Below find links to 4 short video clips from the Deaf Electric show last week with Karen Stackpole and me. This was easily the most significant musical event of which I've been a part. It's a rare treat to play music with someone of Karen's caliber, so I'm very happy I remembered to turned on the video camera. . .
The entire night was improvized, yet somehow we created these loosely structured pieces that really clicked even though this was the first time we had played together . . . It was really awesome, this is what music is all about for me: after years of small glimpses of the potential, and without warning, music leans over and takes you into its confidence.

A wave rises and breaks, a gale gusts and is gone
A moment comes and goes, we wake and we sleep
Dreams arise from ether, a muse, a message, a nightmare
The threads of the soul weave the fabric of lives
A coarse swatch glittering with gems, gaping with holes,
Shot through with husks and seeds

I grew a tree and left it dry So for its leaves to shed Into the stream of conciousness That flows forever fed By thoughts that rise And on these leaves That fall into the stream I'll place these thoughts And watch them drift Away as in a dream
